o_knames
I thoroughly enjoy doing quests. They're by far my favorite part of Runescape. I'm about an hour away from getting to the level required to do my last quest. I actually think my interest in Runescape will diminish now that I'll have to wait every two weeks to have a new quest. I've used Quest Guides in the past, but I won't anymore. I'll squeeze out as much entertainment as I can from the new quests. Oh, I also imagine with the release of the quest capes, there will be plenty of people using the guides exclusively. Raven6666
Alas, finally someone else who believes that the quest rewards are for those who have really earned it. If I am online during the update, I start the quest A.S.A.P., but with my schedule I usually can't anymore. When the guide is released, I only look at the required items before anything else, just to see how much teleporting and walking I go through. The main feature of quests is the storyline, most people just go through a quest, following a guide letter for letter, click for click and eventually get to the end without a genuine thought of what they have been part of. The ONLY quest you need a guide for is Mourning's End Part2: Temple of Light, the maze is almost a killer apparently. If im stuck seriously too far on a quest, I refer to the guide quickly, and that's all.

caligula101
Well there seems to be a mixed amount of opinions coming through. But to all the people that do use a guide step by step maybe you should try not using a guide once see how you enjoy it. As I mentioned in the first post it's a break from, the alching and the fishing or whatever, quite repetitive skills whatever your motivation is. At the end you of course get wrapped up in the story line and feel like you actually deserved the reward! No harm in trying it right? :P
mrnavis
B) have a go, but when you get stuck refer to the guide but i got 223 quest points now ;) and sunday i will get 227 qp ;)
aj926
I always read the guide. I only do quests to get stuff from them, I don't do quests because they are fun. Infact, I hate quests. The only reason I did any quests were because some of the best things come from quests (Dragon Dagger, Barrows Gloves, Crystal Bow, Crystal Shield, Etc.). Other than the rewards, I haven't done a single quest for fun in this game. /agree I did that one white knight thing (buying the armor) for pure fun though. and it was, gotta admit. chaosgone
I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve been playing this game for a long time, so I can usually do new quests when they first come out, although sometimes I will wait if the quest reward doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t sound too interesting. I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ll usually try to do a quest without a guide, but I will probably scan the first part of the quest guide to see what things I need to round up for the quest. Then, if I get stuck, I will refer to the quest guide. However, if I get really annoyed with a quest, then I will just follow the quest guide to complete the quest, and get it over with. http://www.chaosgone.blogspot.com

rft
I love quests - they are my favourite part of runescape. I used to do quests using guides because there were so many that I wanted to get them out of the way. Now I regret using guides so readily, I would love to go back and do them again off my own back. The only exception I'd say is the light temple in ME2. I would have probably had a go at it if there were not those really irritating level 15 monsters that kept hitting you and making you bank for food. I really needed a guide for that one! Best Barrows Chest: guth skirt, dh helm, dh axe, racks, gp (23/08/06); best tt reward: robin, guthix helm, guthix legs, nats, rune legs

transcript80
I used a guide for Cook's Assistant cos I had no idea where to get the stuf... So I googled it! One of the reasons I landed here at tip.it \ me too!! I always try to do new quests by myself, only to find out that I'm miserable at them. I like doing them, though, and sometimes give a new goal/purpose. For example, the swan song quest pushed me to get my magic up, and devious minds was THE reason to get my smithing levels up! quests yay!!!! *points proudly to sig* Other data was removed when acoount got hacked... Dragonwizerd
i don't like quests all that much, so i figure, "i may as well get this over as quick as possible' because when doing monkey madness, i spent 2 hours trying to get that puzzle done :wall: sometimes its very frustrating Yayyyyyy... Gugge
I almost never do quests the first week they are out. The reason is that the places the quest take place are crowded with people saying " what now, what now, what to do". *If* I do a new quest when its new, I just do it with public chat off. Antisocial perhaps, but I do quests for my personal enjoyment. I also try very carefully to *avoid* reading forum topics about new quests. I hardly ever use guides, the only real exception is the light temple puzzle at mournings end II. When doing quests, I wait until I am in the right mood AND have a lot of time - like on a weekend morning. When I get stuck (yeah, and I will get stuck most of the time  ) I try to figure things out on my own. If I get really stuck, I try to ask a friend for a hint, just a hint and not telling me straight out what to do. Only as a last resort I look at guides. Sometimes I die, usually for being over confident in my skills. ERm, I try to remember to wear a ring of life, but sometimes I forget. Sometimes I get really frustrated - but the feeling to finish a quest on my own is great. One of the worst quest experiences I had was the monkey part in RFD. first I managed to die to archer monkeys (out of monkey costume, forgot prayers, forgot ring of life  ) and loose greegree and m'speak ammy so had to redo part of monkey madness to get them back, and then I managed to burn the snake... One of the best quest experiences I had was doing fairy tale part II. I had no clue about what fairy rings was, or how many of them there were. Exploring it sure took some time, but I really enjoyed it :D Please think before you ask a question. If you ask the right question, its much more likely you get the answer you are looking for :)
Camaman
Honestly, when I do quests, I use a guide. I feel that there isnt enough satisfcation upon completing a quest, whether if I use a guide or not. I believe that quests arent significant enough to do without a guide. Most of the quests arent enjoyable anyway. If the quests were more like LEGEND OF ZELDA, Id find great satisfaction in not using a guide. LEGEND OF ZELDA is soo fun and challenging. ~2431~

djo0
I try not to use guides unless I am stuck. However, on hard quests I have used a guid all the way through it, simply because I coulnd't afford to make any mistakes. I do like to use the 1st part of the quest guide to see what items I would need for the quest before I start it. They're not as fun if you use a step by step guide. Maybe if you tried not using a guide which i've been saying throughout this thread, you might find it more fun? There is more to the game than simply gaining hiscore positions, this is part of it. Basically don't knock something that you have never properly tried.
