mini-games: do it yourself or team games

Featured Replies

mini-games of runescape come in many shapes and sizes. Some rely on teamwork and a group to win while others just need 1 person to work properly.

do it yourself: These mini-games usually are geared towards some sort of reward for examples the armour in barrows or the experiance in the agility pyramid. In these games you can only rely on yourself and only blame yourself if you fail unlike in team based games. This also means games can become very repetitive and boring so you dont get much enjoyment out of playing them.

team games: These mini-games are usually geared towards enjoyment with little rewards which can build up to an item or experiance for example the gold castlewars armour which very few people have as it takes such a long time to get. In these games you need to rely on your team and act as a team. In these games i think communication is important as if one person does a silly mistake (loses flag within first minute in castlewars) then the whole game may be lost. This may mean that you can get very frustrated if you have a low level who is clueless on what to do but it can also provide great enjoyment as no game is the same.

Discuss which type you prefer

my answer: i prefer team based games due to the adrenalin rush (rare but possible) and the fact that no game is the same. I spent 2 days at barrows, made 5mil but was very bored while i stayed 3 weeks at castlewars and only after about 2.5 weeks i started to get tired of it.

Single person minigames for me. I don't like working with others when only a few people are actually contributing. If I could find a large group of people who know what they are doing for a team game then I'd definitly go but those are hard to come by.

team ftw :)

Castle Wars is fun.

MTA is good experience and cash.

So, I choose on what I want in the end, a fun time or advancing my character.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

castle wars = decent, i do like having control over how my minigames go, like rouges den. but castle wars is fun because I dont have to do all the work. but i could if i wanted.

pest control is no longer a mini-game in my opinion. its more like a way of life.

yea that thing is ok, stupid telegrab stuff blows tho. i got my mages book from their...but i had to sell it for other reason a while ago, anyway i am hoping dag kings with leesters will enable me to buy it back again + 2 prayer lvls

dag kings arent really a minigame, and i dont think the barrows is a "minigame" but i guess... it does give a reward i just see it more as like an on going quest.

I like castle wars but I find it annoying when I'm shouted at for destroying cades with little health and replacing them with new ones. Some people have no aspect of tactics.

I prefer the single person game over the team based game. It frustrates me in the team setting that a couple of idiots can completely ruin an entire game. If I am doing a single player game then I have noone but myself to blame if something gets screwed up.

Telekinetic arena is fun to a certain extent... The only thing that really bores me is the alching. Other than that, MTA is my favourite. I like the solo games better.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

as you said your self the big monsters dont count, and really barrows brothers are some of the bigger monsters. plus, jagex never really said it was a minigame. i can see how it maybe considered that, and really it probably is but i dunno.

Team minigames are much more fun, but obviously the benefits of single minigames are much more rewarding, aside from PC. And i don't think DK are a miniagme, just as much as KQ or KBD are...Barrows is, although it doesn't really have a symbol, its one classified by jagex. But me personally, i don't consider it one because there's not much minigame about it.

Umm...I really like both...my 2 favorite are Castle Wars and Burthorpe games...one obviously of each...though I find often times in Castle Wars I am doing everything myself. :?

Solo.

I can't really think of any team minigames I enjoy...

Fight caves is definitely for 1 person.

Trawler is much easier alone than with a group.

Barrows is better alone as well, I don't have to worry about them keeping up... or me falling behind as I like getting a killcount.

Pest control is probably the only team minigame I like... and unfortunately, my team tends to frustrate me too much.

That's a really tough question... As a runescape player I usually go solo, so if I'm looking for xp solo minigames all the way. But sometimes I'm in a mood where I just want to destroy and own other people, so a good game of castlewars makes my day then. Besides, if you are a high level and know the ways of cw you could win the game by yourself. Just go make a quick score and then get your own flag before they score, not easily done, but possible in games with 3-6 players on each team.

If you would force me to pick one minigame as my favourite, it would be cw.

-.- Chill...I believe he was referring to the fact that it doesn't have the characterstics of a mini-game like the others. What other minigame can you die in and actually still lose your stuff?
