I just read forums, and people tend to idolize them, putting tons of them in their sigs and all, so that's how I know what they are. I still wanna know from what musseum this is. I don't have the link anymore - you could try searching digg, that's where I got it. The picture's from national geographic though.

Adam007
very cool find. im surprized you actually looked into that :-k It was the other way around. I was just on digg and clicked on some random link about the 4 most interesting extinct animals. It might come as a surprise to you but I don't actually google all the bestiary NPC's and find their real life counterparts.

DarkDude
Yeah, I knew they were real bird. I like them though, would be nice to have them as a pet (If you got them trained of course, wouldn't want them randomly walking up to you and taking a chunk out of your head) No idea why I like them, they just look cool =P Jagex should make some Alpacas in Runescape, they rock. BlackKingX
Weren't those things the top predator for quite a while in South America? Theory has it that they even hunted as a team, like modern-day lions and wolves. Can't remember what caused them to go extinct though... Gnomes trying to ride on them.
henk333
Can't remember what caused them to go extinct though... A very big pebble? No they evolved because of that big pebble whiping out the dinosaurs a couple of million years earlier. Btw leinfo, nice info, but it comes straight from Wikipedia. Haven't played RuneScape since 12 january 2007 and it feels great :)

How does one come upon such a thing? :-k not really it just died off just before the first humans came
Umega
I watched this ITV program about a dinosaur park (forgot it's name) and apparently Terrorbirds died out because another animal (sabretooth tiger) in the same area pushed the terrorbird out of the foodchain and couldn't find any food for it's self, so the birds' numbers began to dwindle. No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.
atestarossa
hmmm.. fun, i just found this out too, watched tv (norwegian) and saw this terrorbird (or if it was another big ugly bird) anyway, that poor flapsy looked a lot cuter irl than at the game (green :S)

How does one come upon such a thing? :-k Actually it was sabre tooth tigers, this was after the dinosaurs were extinct. I think the terrorbird is the largest bird ever to inhabit the earth, but it lived in south america if you wanted to know. how do i know this? it was on a tv programme not long ago in the uk lol Want to be my friend?
