Teleother-ers at Barrows: Bug Abuse?

Featured Replies

Hey all, I felt kind of strongly about this issue, such that I registered here just to post this. Hope you give this a fair shake.

I've seen people try to get other players killed at the barrows. They do this by waiting until other players are fighting a brother (usually Dharok), and then repeatedly casting teleother spells on them, rendering them unable to take any action. As a result, they die, and lose many valuable items.

Now, to me, this is flat-out bug abuse, not to mention one of the n00biest things one could do (seriously, they're too scared to fight the brothers themselves?). Jagex never intended for other players to be able to deliberatly and directly get other players killed outside of the wilderness and designated mini-games, much less a risk-fraught area as the barrow tombs and tunnels. So, this action should technically be reported as abuse.

What are your thoughts?

ya i havent done barrows before but i think about this issue they should make it so people cant tele other in it..

its very simple to fix, just turn off your accept aid..I only turn mine on when i need too and it goes off immediatly afterward. No reason to leave it on, if you do your asking for trouble :?

on the other hand, jagex could make tele other not work when in combat.

It isnt bug abuse though.

Doesn't it just make you mad? I've never heard of/seen this happen but if it does then it's cheap and cowardly. You probably could report them for bug abuse, give it a go.

"Accept Aid" OFF

Noted. Accept aid is always "off" when I barrow. But that isn't really the issue - there will be the one time when you forget and leave it on. If players are bragging about making more money working this scheme than actually barrowing, then it is a real problem.

Doesn't JaGex consider that Item Scamming if you die? I saw a post on this before

i forgot about turning that of :-#

How is it bug abuse? I guess if you're casting a spell, it's bug abuse.

It's bug abuse, because it's an unintended action in the game that the designers did not want. Obviously, if Jagex wanted players offing each other at the barrows, they'd have allowed players to attack each other directly. Teleother spells were intended to allow other players to assist one another getting around, not to allow some less than honest folk to steal from more well-off players.

Bug abuse isn't always elaborate, as in actually hacking the game. It is exploiting a loophole that isn't supposed to be there.

Have you ever been to barrows or read what other people said? Those Jagex people intended teleother spells to be used on other players, so I wouldn't call it "bug abuse" per se. However, it is item scamming or at least an abuse of the spell.

P.S: I think they should ban anyone who could cast wind burst :XD: (Just had to say that)

Its a minigame. The first person to catch him gets a Klondike Bar and a handshake from Chuck Norris. Watch out those 2 combined may have adverse effects.

I have never done it, and it may be cheap, but it is perfectly fair under the rules and there is no way we can stop those peopel but to have common sense and turn off accept aid.

Lies!

You keep getting the accept screen cancelling out that turns attack. This is neither bug abuse nor item scamming its just other players being stupid.

If your not smart enough to turn it off after this post :boohoo: cry me a river.

Bug abuse is when there is a fault within the game, i.e. killing players outside the wilderness. This is not bug abuse as this spell is meant to be cast on other players.

It's not a bug, but I would definately consider it item scamming. Not to mention a completely pathetic thing to do at the very least.

Not a bug, just very sad people. -.-

They did that to me once, and I was at Dharok(ofcourse) and I had to decline, watch health and pray and turn it off. #-o

Anyway, just turn it of before entering Barrows, and if you forgot it report them for item scamming and tell them you did, they might become scared. :)

This could be debated either way...

It isn't a bug because it's designed to work to help other players, and in cases like that, it could be used to save the other person.

However, if the person doesn't want to be tele-othered, and is in the middle of the combat, then it could be item scamming/bug abuse since they are abusing a game mechanic in a way it is not supposed to be used.

Now of course, an easy fix to this would be to make it where after you've declined the teleport, you can't be tele-othered for a couple of minutes...

don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?

First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat

same with 'teleother to ice plateau'... Some guy casts the spell on everybody in fally bank world 2 and hopes someone misclicks on accept and then he get's tele'ed to lvl 45 wild and then u get jumped by a team of 100+

Yes, it is dishonourable and the like, but it is not bug abuse. Teleother is intended to be used there, just as it is intended to be used in any other area of RS.

Offline and unavailable.

i wonder if they ever even kill anyone  noone leaves accept aid on, and they can easily accept the teleport or just tele with runes/an item. anyway its pathetic, i think alching and teleothers should be banned from ALL minigames, except maybe the fight pit waiting room, you cant alch in the fight caves or castle wars, and its also pathetic in fight pits when a team of about 5 people is left and they stand there alching until they start getting hit rapid 1s, then they eat/use guthans vs the 90s until their prayer/hp runs out. btw it wouldnt show up on reports unless they admit to it, but if they admit to it im sure jagex wouldnt approve of it. its kinda funny watching their lame excuses when they stop alching everytime someone starts their fight vs dharok.
