Jake_Corsair
Also at one point Augustus says something about troubles with the balloon and says "tribb....", made me think about tribbles. Also the resembelance "could" be that of Picard in the conversation screens. If Jagex ever made a perfect update, there would be players complaining about nothing to complain about.[hide=My Stats][/hide]

nephite
He also calls you his "number one" has captain's pips on his collar, etc. A lot of allusions to Star Trek.
swampjedi
Mudd! I will have to do this quest tomorrow. I'm a heckvua trekkie. My Goals and Achievements
Fire_God
After the quest he says that he has started a new enterprise in the balloon business. He only has three pips on his collar, arn't captin's pips four? I know they are four, maybye I just can't see the fourth for some reason (if its there). Trying is just the first step in failure. blue_star67
You've gotta love JAgeX. Such Subtle referencers :D I'll be sure to finish the quest today :P Trying to get a new sig... Idea's anyone?

mrpez
I haven't done the quest since I'm...I'm....free to play!!!!! *sob!!!* :-X :uhh: But really, it seems that Jagex gets most their ideas from outside sources. Andrew Gower is one smart peanut. Why think of your own ideas when you can just h4xor them off someone else? \
pokemama
Tsk. It's not swiping. It's paying homage to (that means "honouring" lol) beloved stories etc. Previous examples are Monty Python (Lumberjack Leif in Miscellania's examine is "He's a lumberjack and he's okay.") and some HP Lovecraft stuff in the Slug Menace quest. SPOILER ALERT: I made a note of all the Trek references I saw (there may be more - I've only really watched TOS and TNG). First and most obviously is his nearly bald pate with a fringe of white/gray hair, 4 pips on the collar (these were quite visible), and the french name of Auguste (versus our own Jean-Luc Picard). He says, "I want to explore new frontiers!" You (the player) say, "And go where no man has gone before?" If you don't have the materials, he says "Failure is not an option." I didn't get the exact quote here, but after the test flights he says something like: we shall meekly go ... no, no, we shall cautiously go. Before the flight he says: ...if we run into tribb ... er, trouble After the flight he says, "We have travelled in a way that no man has travelled before! The next step will be to go where no men have gone before." He also says, "I am considering starting a balloon enterprise." He does call you "number one" as nephite posted - I just missed copying down that quote. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*. oddfaery2
Seems to be becoming a trend. Perhaps you may remember the halloween update with all the Ghost Buster references... Barihawk
Well, we all know that Mod Nancy is a Trekkie! I want Auguste's jacket! My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. jessy87
i was hoping theyd give use the cool original jackets from star trek the original series movies with shattner as kirk... make the operate function button and unbutton the lil flap om the shirt. Omali
i was hoping theyd give use the cool original jackets from star trek the original series movies with shattner as kirk... I don't believe it to be physically possible to translate Shatnar's voice onto text. Of course, if you had a sequel, with him, and more balloons, you'd have to have a Scotty-type character screaming "Ya can't push it any faster!" Jeebe
in startrek he says "to boldly go where no man has gone before" and this guy says "to boldly go where no men have gone before" I guess they make a few subtle difference so its not a complete rip off :P Jeebe's RuneScape Tools

Lord_K
Jagex is full of real life referances, and I like them, makes the game alot more fun. I did notice his castle wars Balloon pilot is called Marrow and is learning to become a doctor, could be a referance to "Bones".
