A chance for all of us?

I expect that the hunter skill when it is first released people will be paying 5k ea for the resources when later they find they are 300 ea. Thats what i did in construction (cloth ftw! and with the profits leveled construction). For those of you who are not rich merchants, or merchants looking for the cash to get something to merch with. This is the time! If you sell enough the profits will be higher then any other! Without the construction profits of 300 - 400k i made i dunno how the hell i wouldve worked my way up to the small fortune of 5m i have now. So this is an oppurtunity for all of us. Money wont necessarily drain from this skill, it might just go somewhere else, that somewhere else could be you, discuss.

And it's not very nice selling items 10x higher than they are. Price Maniplation?

People who do that are not what I'd class as honourable merchants. They take and prey on people desperation.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Surely that's the idea of merchanting? That's the way the whole runescape circlulation works..

Or this could end up being a gold mine for macros, if the materials needed are easy for a level 3 to aquire

Only time I've done anything like that was when Dragon Scimitars came out. I rushed over to Ape atol and bought 3, 1 for me. I then sold for the other 2 for roughly 1M. I also sold my death talisman from MEP2 for 500k the day it came out as I'd never use it (I opened it up so I could abyss it, I don't even have 65 crafting or whatever you need anyway =P). Not my fault people were willing to buy for that.

People who do that are not what I'd class as honourable merchants. They take and prey on people desperation.

If people are willing to pay that much to get stuff, I say sell it.

perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is another

AMEN!

What has this got anything to do with honourable? He isnt talking about merchanting as well. He is just saying that it will be a good time to make some decent gp-s with ur "pick up from ground technique" or something to that effect.

Furtermore anyone who is willing to pay 10x the amount of actual value for something he desires to do now rather then a month later can hardly be classified as desperate.

I seriously dont know why everyone is so freaking edgy this days. Think before u post stuff which is clearly derogative to others next time.

I can barely call that merchanting whatsoever, but oh well, it generally does allow people to make some easy cash during the first few days of a new skill.

They take and prey on people desperation.

...and what merchants dont do this  99% of merchants are price fixers and scamers. some examples...

-try to buy dragon bone notes and see how many swaps for big bone notes you get.

-try to sell your dag king drops, and see how many people do the removing cash scam on you (selling drag axe for 3,200,000 - 3,167,996 = 32004, like i havent had this tried 3200000 times =; )

my opinion of "merchants" is not a good one. they are all in it for one reason, to make easy fast cash any way they can. i believe most of the big ones make up a majority of the keylogging hacks too.

And it's not very nice selling items 10x higher than they are. Price Maniplation?

That's just silly.

If Builders were willing to pay huge premiums for raw and finished materials when Construction came out, how is that anybody's fault other than their own?

The whole point of supply and demand is this: if the price of something goes sky-high, more people will rush in to cash in, and in the end, produce more of that product, and lower prices again.

When this new Hunting skill comes out, there is likely going to be a demand for something, and that demand for that something will end up far outstripping the supply. And prices will skyrocket.

That's how markets work.

If I'm standing there selling something, and somebody offers 10x what it cost me to make it, how is that the fault of anyone but the buyer?

Only a maroon would insist on taking less.

The RS economy for raw materials cannot be "price manipulated". Maybe the rares market can, but the raw materials market simply follows the laws of supply and demand.

Runescape is not a Communist society. It's a free-market Utopia. Deal with it and work on Hunting after the hubbub (and cost) dies down.

I can barely call that merchanting whatsoever, but oh well, it generally does allow people to make some easy cash during the first few days of a new skill.

Or, another way to look at it is:

For those for whom gp is not a concern, price inflation ensures that they have a steady supply of those materials required to reach 99 in the new skill.

People who do that are not what I'd class as honourable merchants. They take and prey on people desperation.

In my opinion, if you want money, EARN the money. Buying things just to resell for more money and rip off two people at once isn't what I call honorable.

or you can race to level up the skill being that their is going to be new armor and weapons get them and sell them, remember the abyssal whips? 60m for the first ones even more. So merchent or skill? choice is up to you i stocked up on goods and i will grind xp in hunting if its possible.

If they're that easy, then why would people pay?

Merchanting isn't walking into a room telling people a fake price buying an item from someone then laughing in their face. Much like merchanting isn't not hard work , it is. Cnstantly having to look at market values, having to predict the future of the market, and having to spend hours finding a good deal.

Good deals do NOT mean ripping people off and buying their item at a massive undercut it is buying their item for the low end of the price scale. Then selling at the high end of it, or keeping and waiting until the market peaks to sell then buy back when it comes lower.

Calling all merchants scammers and hackers is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard. Merchanting is a skill, Duke was good at it because he was interested in the subject and he was their at the right time much like a lot of the rich merchants. It may not have levels to it but it is a skill.

What this is, is ripping people off like in Construction when it first came out people where selling saws for 20K each and Cloth for massivley marked up prices. Yes it is up to the buyer when he buys an item, but people who do this know they are ripping people off. As they obviously get it in mass quantities for a lot cheaper. Another example being the log merchants when Contruction came out who switched to F2P for oak logs buying them for 20gp and selling them on for 100gp each. This also applies to things like Slayer items when they first come out you see them being sold as new items for massive prices, and I'm sure a lot of people would agree that's wrong. Anyway that's what i call dishonarble merchanting.

i love it how most of you people say hacks and keylogs so easily.

i have seen them, watched a friend use it in cm class, some can get into anywhere.

are you going to allow a random person to im you and tell you to dll x?

that is why i don't keep im info here. or anywhere.

password cracking is more probable, since therew was a flood, and still iss of cracking, jagex made it harder to crack...

hacking... not really, maybe, but if u are gonna hack, you are gonna hack a site, like tip.it, but not really since tip.it isn't the ideal site, and you get thier usernames and passses, so many people do not use a different password, i used to do that for other things i played, now i don't.

its just a matter of trust, and people abusing it.

but i buy things overpriced all the time because i need them now and fast.

yes but password crackings is a challenge thru runescape its not like this is dumbold yahoo of 2000 where password cracking was more like shooting a fish in a barrel with dynamite. now adays this is more like professional work if you could literally crack a runescape name and pass...

people are dumb, they thing cracking is the same as hacking, and really hacking is precise... i mean why hack runescape when you could hack a data base for a school or nasa... or the fbi files

I doubt there is as much money to be made with hunter as there was with construction. With construction you had to buy your levels with mass materials. I don't see hunting requiring so much of that. I'm sure there will be buyable things, but I doubt you'll be able to make huge profits off it like you did cons. Just like slayer, I doubt you can really profit off selling levels. Instead, I'd imagine you profit by buying what you can of the level, getting high levels fast, and selling what you make off the skill for high prices. That's how skills should work - not the opposite.

People who do that are not what I'd class as honourable merchants. They take and prey on people desperation.

Ditto,

When construction came out I wasn't gonna pay 1-2k for a plank, I just cut my own oak plank them then get high construction which didn't even that that long.

And thats what i'm probably gonna do for this skill
