I agree, JumpinJax, the combat system really was screwed up - having over 20 levels on your opponent really didn't account for much, but compared to the way PKing works today, it's like that system was flawless, no?

Remembering the days of mining coal for a month for a 750k r2h, anticipation of getting the 200k rune helm from greaters, and being able to pk on a "main" account. Days of eating easter eggs off the ground and picking my character as a ranger.

She only gave them out to her very close friends, and therefore didn't have a price. I remember when Who Da Best killed Phillip for his rune 2-hander, that was big news.

I had the honor of getting PK'ed by Greg after being chased all the way from the pirate house to level 18 wilderness in late 2002, losing my adamantite kite, instead of logging out like a coward. Would be nice to see if you remember this one greg. Enjoy it greg, enjoy... 8-)

Great article, I really wish I had played back then. It seemed so fun with the old pking system and evel/good magics. I do hate how it is so easy to train now though, Pest Control/Full Guthans (Although I do love my Guthans). I hope to see some more great articles in the future. Keep up the good work.

I used to play RSC back in the beginning. When they updated to RS2, I kinda freaked out and quit playing. I tried a few times over the past couple years and just got frustrated. However, I recently came back in the past two months full-time. My god...I can't even keep up with all the updates. A little overwhelmed. I can't even ask other players because nowadays to ask for help you get called a noob or ignored completely.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I came back with an adamite 2H, which I remember saving up for it over about 5 months back in the day and was all happy with it. Only when I came back, suddenly, it sucked. It's still in my bank since I worked so dang hard for it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other new things: All this friggin' new weaponry and armour! I don't even know what people are talking about....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I do miss that community feeling it had back then. I looked at my friend list repeatedly over the past few weeks and wondered..hmm..do they even still play. I finally went through and deleted everyone as in two months only two have logged on and I think one was someone who scammed me back in the day! It was a sad moment. I wonder what happened to my buddy who gave me an iron set of armour when I first started because I was lost and couldn't figure out how to navigate the map and was walking in circles as he told me to north because I didn't know how to tell which way was north. lol

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm more of a solitary player and the new RS is a little difficult for me because of that. Greg was very right on that....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I went back to my old skills of fishing, mining, and smithing..those were the things I did back then. I've ventured fearfully into a few other skills and my stats are going up a bit on them, but it's not the same.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What I really really hate now, that I didn't see as much of back then, are people yelling noob at everyone under the sun. Maybe it's an age thing..don't know. When someone calls me a noob because my combat level is low (40ish) I feel quite angry about it since I've been playing for longer than them. Combat levels were never my thing, I just wanted to master other skills.

bloody brilliant topic, i started to play just after they changed player killing to be anywhere to just being in the wild, and everything was hard, training, money making was virtualy impossible and 100k well u was god dam rich if u had 100k!

 

 

 

anyways in about 2003 i made a pure called "da tru 3hitr" at about lvl 40 when 3 round combat still existed, and it was god dam amazing lol! i was friends with literally every lvl 40 pker and had huge pk trips slaughtering all the lvl 35 enemies like N A D Z I who i hated and all those guys.

 

 

 

anyways i pked like 2-3 r2h a day which was a hell of alot back then and ended up with about 400 addy 2hs after like 1 and a half years of constant pking lol, man i loved those lobby certs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

However since the iradication of 3 round combat, pking is pathetic, infact i now lose money when i pk due to the ridiculous prices of food etc and the stupid drag dagger specs which absalutely own me cos theyre so overpowered. Runescape is just realy boring now compared to what it use to be. dam i miss classic :(

:XD: Not only did you bump a 3 month old topic, but you just showed that you are mentally incapable of adapting to a new combat system. We don't have 3 hit anymore, we have dds, entangle and tb. Food is not overpriced, unless you're incredibly poor, that is. Anybody can scrounge up the food for a few pking trips.
