mrmyk
well while i was farming today i got onto the conversation of private schools. Going to one myself i fought for them while my friend fought against them. I will list the arguments used and you can decide who wins + your views on the subject. for: - people can choose to pay if it means better equipment - everyone can try for the exam but only a few can get in (like in jobs) - parents choice whether they want children in private or public sector - in this age getting the best headstart on life is very valuable (might have more points but cant remember at the moment) against: - equal opportunites for everyone - if you work hard no matter what school your in you should get good grades - if you have money to spend on education then you too rich - everyone should get equal education discuss  Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements

Guest AshKaYu
I disagree with two points, and don't understand the second of the againsts: If you have money to spend on education you are too rich Haven't you ever heard of university, college, training? Everyone should get equal education If everyone was a lower-class manager, if everyone was a math teacher, if everyone was a doctor, we'd all be in trouble. People have different levels of education for multiple reasons, some for money, some because they know what they want to be.
Randox
I dont agree with any of the againsts. Good grades in public school dont mean as much as good grades in private school. Also public schools are all diferent just like the private ones, so an equal education is hard to provide. I myself go to private school btw. I live in the province with the second worst public schools in the country, in the city with possibly the second highest crime rate per capita in the country. I pay for a decent education, and a better social atmosphere where I dont fear for my safty, and dont get ridiculed because im good at science and math. Also my class is smaller than 33 people. They public schools have to teach to the dumbest student. maby more later
Fadfdfd
I am going to a prep school next year, and I'm psyched! (Firefox Spell-Check ftw :) ) It's going to be awesome! The school there is so much more polite and hard-working. Currently, people at my school go just because they have to. This place, people go because they want to succeed. I like that in a person. That's me for ya. I think I'll do great at this new school and enjoy it very much!
Taito2004
I If you have money to spend on education you are too rich Haven't you ever heard of university, college, training? I'de just like to point out, that the majority of people don't have the money to pay for university fees. That's what student loans are for.. which a lot of people are still paying off in their late 30's, early 40's. Also, college, and training, if you go to it when you first leave school, is free in the UK.. don't know where you're from though. 92/99 Fishing | 119/120 Combat | 92/99 Firemaking | 94/99 Fletching | 1878/1900 Total | 85/85 Slayer | 80/80 Prayer

zeekyhbomb
-equal opportunites for everyone If anything, the technology makes teachers lazier, the smartboards at my school let teachers write the whole class noted for the year over the summer or something, then they use them for the whole teaching career at the school. - if you work hard no matter what school your in you should get good grades Good grades have nothing to do with what type of school you go to, as long as you have good work ethic, you can get good grades at both public and private schools, equally as easily or hard. - if you have money to spend on education then you too rich You aren't 'too rich', some people get scholarships to the schools, and education is a way better thing to spend money on than other possibilities, depending on the school, it can help the kid. - everyone should get equal education For the most part the education in both public and private schools is equal, plenty of the teachers here have come from public schools and a few have moved to public, the main difference if for the teachers. At a catholic school like this, you get mroe holidays, but for the most part, public schools pay more. I just honestly dont find your against arguments to make much sense as I have been to both public and private schools.
Viktorkrum77
It doesn't bother me. If they have the money, and are willing to pay, than great for them. For those saying that's not fair, well, I'm sorry, you should've got a better job/education/etc. so you could be rich/well-off like them. Me doing staff. x_giva
I'm all for private schools because public schools are: corrupt (immoral), too crime filled, and lacking in religious education. Now, to disagree with the againsts.. equal opportunities for everyone. watchu talkin' 'bout willis! There's no religious education! that ain't equal. If you work hard.. that's a load... it's much easier with better teachers, ones who can motivate you to study and such. and private schools should have better teachers... plus, it's easier for special ed kids to learn in a special ed school. if you have money... false! the opposite is true: if you don't have money for education, you are poor and live in the ghetto. everyone should get an equal education: um... that's not possible.. some people don't learn as well as others. For example, special-ed kids... already unequal. In short, private schools pwn. ahh... the good old days, when 30 attack got you on the high-scores....... An orthodox Jew and proud of it! Zonorhc
I went to a state school, which coincidentally does a lot better than the vast majority of private schools. Granted, it was also a selective institution. The main attraction of private schools is, I guess, better teachers, since the good ones tend to get snapped up by the higher pay. Still, I wouldn't want to teach at a private school here, mainly because of the high proportion of snobby kids and parents who think their children deserve leniency and privileges beyond education for the simple fact that they pay more money. I'm all for private schools because public schools are: corrupt (immoral), too crime filled, and lacking in religious education. Well, I wouldn't know about you, but private schools have an equal tendency to produce idiots and sociopaths as public schools. If it's anything otherwise, then the problem lies in the governing body and favouritism in it, rather than the schools themselves. Now, to disagree with the againsts.. equal opportunities for everyone. watchu talkin' 'bout willis! There's no religious education! that ain't equal. I would personally say that having religious education is unequal in and of itself. There are simply far too many active religions and denominations thereof for anything short of a university to cover in a fair manner. You are also being inconsiderate to those whose beliefs preclude religious instruction. To have no religious education is in fact more equal in that nobody is given preference. If you work hard.. that's a load... it's much easier with better teachers, ones who can motivate you to study and such. and private schools should have better teachers... plus, it's easier for special ed kids to learn in a special ed school. I went to a state school and the teachers were a lot better than the vast majority of private teachers I've seen. Vague generalisations get you nowhere. if you have money... false! the opposite is true: if you don't have money for education, you are poor and live in the ghetto. Vague generalisation much? Public schools exist for a reason, and it's not like every community that has youths attending them is a ghetto. You're coming across as a complete snob. everyone should get an equal education: um... that's not possible.. some people don't learn as well as others. For example, special-ed kids... already unequal. And is this problem confined solely to public schools? No, because a good number of people I've met who went to private schools are complete snobs without one whit of honest work in them. Giordano
I'm all for private schools because public schools are: corrupt (immoral), too crime filled, You've been to the public schools in Compton and southern Los Angeles haven't you? Not all schools are like that... and lacking in religious education. I hope you mean studing it and not preaching it. I for one dont care for private schools as long as the taxes dont pay for them. mad4u689
Private schools reinforce already disparate opportunities between privileged and underprivileged groups. EVERYONE should have the right to a good education, and the opportunities that result. All schools should be public, and schools across the country should be equally excellent. I am not saying to bring the best schools down to the "average" level, but rather to raise all schools up, by CONSIDERABLY increasing spending on education. Higher salaries would attract better teachers across the board. (Cut most of our defense budget out to make up for it... So basically what your saying is that poor people have less of a right to an educatation than anyone else? Still, if nothing is done to make public schools better, why should everyone get a poor education? So basically what your saying is that poor people have less of a right to an educatation than anyone else? No matter what you say. In real life that's what matters. Poor people DO get less health, education, entertainment, etc. You saying they have the right to get good education isn't going to change that. My point here is: why should everyone get poor education when there are people who can get better education, and perhearps figure out a way to give everyone good education in the future? ^The most disturbing signature on Tip.it^Last.fm|HELLY KAYLA!|Oh the mehagurtz!|#Siencemakers"they care less about their spelling mistakes then I." - Lionheart"apinagez... let me
Faux
It depends on where you live really. For countries that aren't really developed, private schools are a must. But like right now, I don't go to a private school, but won't have a hard time getting into decent universities. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
stan18
wow, i really didn't know there was an argument AGAINST private schools. theres no solid argument against it. everyone has the opportunity to buy a steak, the difference is not everyone chooses to do so really, if you presented those arguments against someone pro-private school, they would get shot down in a matter of seconds
Gattree
This is a dumb thread, I mean really we're suppose to debate whether there should be private schools? It's up to the child and parents to decide if they want to go to a private school and really doesnt affect anyone else. The arguement equal education is dumb too. I mean if you could get better education than in public schools than get it. No reason you should have to suffer because others aren't as wealthy as you. Tough that education isn't equal if they're private schools but like it's been said you can earn success where ever you go to school at.
