A better combat system.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I believe that the player vs. player combat system is RS2 is flawed hugely. Basically, you can win in the wilderness if you have the most cash (better armor, potions, food) and the largest number of people on your side. Lone PKers have almost no chance now because theyÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ll get teamed by large, low-level teams. As a hardened, veteran PKer (both alone and with friends), I think this is unfair. So hereÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s my alternative:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Combat shouldnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be real time. When you attack someone, it should pause and then go into a screen where itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s just you and that person.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the first stage youÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢d each be given 10 seconds to choose your style of attack. You could choose which prayers to use. Each one would use a predetermined amount of your prayer bar. To use food or potions or items, your inventory would still be shown to the right of the screen, and you would simply click on an item, thereby selecting it to be used AFTER the round. So if you have 11 health left and you want to use a lobster to youÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re you, it wonÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t do that till AFTER the round so youÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ll have to hope your opponent doesnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t hit an 11. If you wanted to change from ranging to, say, maging, youÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢d click the ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅmageÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

Well thought and decent pictures, but if I understand right, you're wanting to take RS combat out of real time, and make it into a turn-based combat system? Well... that would completely ruin runescape.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

First there would be no more clans because how could you team-pk?

 

 

 

A lot of monster specials would be voided

 

 

 

All of the weapon speeds would be negated, making a d2h the best weapon in the game

 

 

 

Would it be for PvP only?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In my opinion, this is a bad bad bad bad bad bad idea. Im sorry if you think Im flaming, its just, part of what makes runescape fun is the combat system. With this, I am positive, Runescape would die

It's a great idea in theory, but there are too many flaws. Like what was said before, it would negate weapon speeds, making the D2h and greataxe the best weapons, hands down. It would also make dag kings and kq impossible, since you can't solo them. But the main detraction is that it would take all the fun out of fighting in real-time. And what about Jad? You have to see him to know when to switch prayers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But as perhaps a minigame, it would be entertaining, if nothing else. Maybe make it an option at the duel arena to fight turn-based, or real-time.

Uh-huh. :-s Well, I think thats a bad idea. If you were able to fight like that, I to, think that would ruin runescape. I hate being pked by a team but that would make all the speeds of weapons...not matter. So yes, d2h would be best weapon. No team pks means no clans, no team means no teaming on strong monsters...but on the bright side...those noob rangers and mages wouldn't be able to hide behind rocks :thumbsup:

its a good idea but not for runescape you see in the runescape wildy i belive runescape is pro clan and that would ruin clans maybe if you could see several people in the screen in multi combat though i wouldnt have more than 1 round

enh, not so much. How could anyone pk, if every pvp fight was optional? It would be more like dueling, only minus staking as well. It would be a good minigame, so people who only fun in the dueling arena wouldn't be mixed in with all the stakers, like if two people could just fight eachother and say boom, i win, or boom, you win, and forget about it. Perhaps as a minigame one could get points, like at cw, for each won fight, and trade them in for some reward, so there would be a reason to win...

yeah, it does have some bugs. i appreciate the suggestions. an option at the duel-arena would be cool. i hadn't thought about weapon speeds... but i was only going to have it for pvp. this was just sort of an example because i utterly hate getting teamed in the wildy by people who are all 10 lvls lower than me but outnumber me by like 5.

I congratulate you on making the effort for all the pictures. I know how especially hard and frustrating it is to do on Paint, especially as there are only 3 undo options.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

However, I do not think this idea will be put into practice as people will not want to keep clicking the buttons for each turn. If you want to go into the wilderness, go without any items, then you cannot lose anything. Well, I say don't take anything, but you can just take the free stuff from the combat Tutors and so, when you die, your opponent cannot pick anything up (except bones).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To some people who posted before me: DOn't flame. It gets you nowhere in life and hurts the thread starter's feelings. The only thing you gain from it is 1 post count (yippee.), but, as I saw in somebody's sig, "It doesnt matter what your post count is, but it matters whether those posts count."

thanks, i appreciate the support and the... err... constructive critisicm. maybe the idea wasn't so great... i completely forgot about weapon speeds, but if i could edit that in do you think this might work as previously suggested as an OPTION at the duel arena? either normal or turn based?
