No, not really. I'd use my magic to help people, because IRL, magic would be all you need. No more needing to get up to fetch the remote, use Telekenetic grab, superheat your food when it gets cold, alch some junk when you need some spare cash, etc. And that's just the normal spells. Think about Lunar spells and Ancients IRL.

Well actually in the game it says that you don't need runes to cast spells. it says that runes just make it much more easy. the game says that the orrignal ...magic pures?? just summoned the magical power. so i asume that you wouldn't need runes at 99 magic.

I'd like to have either Thieving, Strength, or Construction. Thieving would be pretty cool to just go up to random people and pickpocket them..

Range and gun shot is different thing, so I think you COULD die, why not protect from gun-shot instead?

Protect from ranged is arguably a protection from projectiles.
