if the certain word got bleeped?

the word would be replaced over time.

for example, ppl will start saying "Newbie" to replace noob. It's like illegal drugs. once you get off one, you start another to replace it (not that i would know, but you get the point)

what i was meaning was that you can report someone for offencive language, and if noob is starred you don't know what word they are saying, so you could report them for it

In the Runescape Runes of Conduct, it says DO NOT REPORT IF THE WORD IS STARRED OUT. -.-

No, unless Jagex wants some chaos. They will just figure out a new name to call someone, it isn't that hard. Yes, it will be confused with other words with four * so it won't do any good. It'll bring more harm than it has by annoying some people. Easily ignore them by a few clicks of a button to your ignore list or just walk/world switch.

Its better to call someone a "noob" than to swear. But to jessy87 said you shouldn't get called a noob for trading not what the person asked, you damnwell should, and you should learn to use trading properly.

The Steps Of Trading

1. Some says they are either buying or selling something - e.g. "Buying/Selling Full Guthans 9.4m Cash -=Skully_Sc=-"

2. The person who wants to complete this transaction with that player sends a trade offer.

3. Both participants in the trade put up their respectable items, the deal is made and accepted. If the wrong items are put up the people are complete idiots who don't know how to read and therefore unable to play the game.

Simple really. -.-

really if you think thats how all trades are started then that is just ignorance.

you never saw some1 say selling this for no named price? and offered something reasonable? and they declined and called you a noob? its happened to me... thats for sure. i dont think ive ever started a trade and offered anything else then a either what the person was asking or VERY close and got called a nobo.

their is time when i have been called a noob for offering a scammer something stupid for like full guthans no spear with a leaf spear... like i offer ahrims staff or something.

but after i read this i try to think specifically of a time when it was like, oh i was trying to buy a santa for this, and the guy was trying to sell for like 2mil more then what they have been the day before all that day and everyone else within like the hour would have been selling for. my point being, i offered what i was sure the price was for the majority of people and they are like well...thats what i paid for it 2 days ago so... i get 1mil in interest a day.

seriously, i never actually say a price when i say a majority of my things that i dont care much about. when i get rune boots, i say selling rune boots. never say a price. but like when i sold my mages book, i specifically said a price to find a buy quickly... and theirs been times when id say "selling *****" without a price get offered something and delcline because its a bunch of garbage and get called a noob.

honestly if all trading was perfect and done without opinon of prices and it was pay or dont pay with cash, yea that would be fine but the way runescape works where you can haggle(instead of an auction system) well its just naive to think runescape is 100% like an auction like trade system.

What do you say to someone who does the "Take cash away at the last second" scam and you detect it?

I know what I say, after I hit the report buttion.

Noob.

It's a form of light swearing IMO, like "shoot" and "frick". Not reall that offensive, but to a little kid it makes a big impact. It's just a little slap on the face, it shouldn't have to be censored.

calling someone a noob is just some sound that resembles a sound a classmate of mine made who, he was mentally challenged.(this was the first grade... poor jimmy)

i actually dont have that happen to me like EVER simply because i dont sell things... to be honest, i have not had that happen to me in probably

I really don't think it would matter.

People who just throw around "noob", "nooblet", ect dont really affect anything. It's just a term used for players with bad behavior. I use it from time to time, but in a non-derogatorry sense.

They say if it bothers you then slap an ignore sticker on their forhead and go about your business.

Now that would be a fun thing to do in real life, no? Someone at work or school (or anywhere, really) starts annoying you, so you slap a little sticker on their forehead and walk away. If nothing else, it'd shut them up for a while as they try to figure out what the heck just happened.

Ahhh...

Anyway...yeah, general chaos would erupt (again) if noob got the axe. Besides, it's so overused these days that it's practically meaningless anyway.

Do you realize how many variations they'd have to block? n0ob, no0b, n0o0ob, the list goes on. Besides, even if they blocked every combination possible, there would just be a new word, like N'wah (go morrowind \') or some other word.

It's not like it's very insulting anymore. Like being called dumb, or a loser, it doesn't really affect you becuase it's used to much... :ohnoes:

Agreed, look what people did when the censor was made a bit more strict. They sat at their computers and found a way to beat the censor with so called 'Elite' speak.
