I think it's completely fair for Jagex to ban something if people are losing thier accounts over this. Fair enough these people may be young and clueless but surely you do not need a 3rd party program to enjoy runescape. I haven't ever used one and get along just fine and for the people worried about the social consequences of this i.e. #Tip.it (something like that) i believe it said near the end they were adding an ingame chat system for clans and other groups, and im sure that jagex will cater this chat system for large clans/groups such as tip.it

We have updated Rule 7 and Rule 9 to clarify some long standing grey areas, and to cover some recent threats. Please take the time to re-read both rules and make sure you fully understand them.

 

 

 

if they use it again they will be rule breakers and im pretty sure on ss you cant see the front page. i did use ss about two years ago... uninstalled it two weeks after, i just felt like in any update he could put a virus or two in it, people getting hacked all the time because they download the program from a different site, this is why its illegal now, people get hacked easily, how are you supposed to tell which site is the real one, they obviously know that a friend on rs will tell you the real site, and your breaking another rule now, advertising website. this is why it has to be illegal, EVEN IF IT IS SAFE, people can download it from the wrong site, because there is no official site since its a 3rd party program, its illegal anyway now

yup i got it from there too, but its not that easy to point out since its not connected to jagex, picture this, you have some friends and you never had ss before, you ask your friend where to get ss, hes a scammer and etc, he tells you the wrong site, rule 11 broken, you ask him for a site, you break rule 9 and he gives you a keylogger on the ss program because theres no way you can tell which is offical, he breaks rule 2 and 3.. see how by jagex making it clear in the beginning of this all accounts are saved?

Swift switch did much more than just switch worlds, it made it very easy to check people on the high scores, calculators were readily available including a normal one, you could price check easily, take screen shots more easily, have access to maps and much more. Now I'll have to open a new tab for every one of these when i want access.

But that's 'a few people' a program used by so many couldn't get keylogged without everyone using it noticing. You'd see millions of complaints not 100. The people who did complain are morons who got keylogged on something else.

I don't see why everyone is getting in a flap about this edited rule. In my entire time playing runescape I have never used such a program and have gotten along just fine without it. I understand why jagex is making this new change and personally agree that this is a good change.
