I know it can't log in more than 1 account, and has calcs and chat, but thats not the point.I do know you could log an account on with a bot and have SS change worlds to to wherever to buy runes for example. A lot of people wanted to challenge the legality of this client through various queries sent by Jagex. Let me tell you a little tip: Nothing, I repeat: NOTHING is in stone unless it is in the rules. Messages from a moderator have been proven to be erroneous in nature before this ever occurred.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The only thing that protesting will get you is a ban. And I for one am glad about it; I need the server space. If you want to continue to play RS, then do so with separate RS and mIRC clients. If you don't, leave and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

This client gives you an advantage by allowing access to a fansite's cache of knowledge.

 

 

 

This client allows speedier access to skill calculators.

 

 

 

This client allows slightly faster access to worlds, although I am told that it is quicker to just use the RS client for worldhopping.

For those that say this client is no different than IE, let me ask you this: If you logged into someone else's internet chat session, are you that person? Well, that's something that this client does. It uses a DLL from IE (which could get them in a LOT of hot water with Microsoft), but that does not make them IE. It's also rather easy to detect what browser/software version you're using. If you know PHP, then the superglobal $_SESSION can be used to detect what browser you're using. So don't try to argue that it's not detectable.

you can only get a keylogger from ss if you don't download it right but if you're still scared you can scan it.....it's not our faults some people decieded not to scan it..........btw how can you keylog thru a irc chat :-#

BBC, if you are going around commenting on people's typo's. I believe it is spelt "Thank You". Just giving a small pointer, but I'm probally going to get flamed. EDIT: On course, the forums are being flamed to death :shock: Is there even going to be Barbarian Assult after this?

Because I do not use any third party programs my opinion may not matter because it does not affect me. However, I'll say it anyway. Its a game... and not only that, its THEIR game. They own the rights, they made it and control it. Every update has at least four opinions to it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

*People who like the update.

 

 

 

*People who do not like the update.

 

 

 

*People that dont care about the update or could care less.

 

 

 

*People that care about the update and both like it and dont.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But in the end, the only people that do not get their way is those who do not like it. Jagex has the final say, they do not make an update for shock value and after so many people complain, they change their mind. They discuss possible ideas, their own opinions, and future updates and work it into helping the game where they see fit. Whether it is in their pockets or to actually help you all enjoy the game.

i'm gonna have to agree with you...darn. Now you guys have to play like most players do...without extra options and that type of advantage. I'm not knowladgable on the details of what switchswift and others do, but i do konw that most computers actually have a built in calculator! :-$

When using the OCX control Microsoft provides for that reason alone, the user-agent is still reported as Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Quite right, but as you can see this update is a bit more explosive than the run-of-the-mill update so it gets a 2 day special treatment. :P

I don't really care if they ban world switcher clients. I think it's idiotic and Jagex has, yet again, done something incredibly stupid. But I don't really care all that much.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

However, I'm FURIOUS at the fact that I got muted for the next 48 hours. All I did was WATCH the protests on 27 and 81, and all I can think of is that some Pmod got trigger-happy and reported me along with a load of spammers.

I don't want to be too offensive, but to everyone who seems to think SS is a necessity- I play with the regular window, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. You're all acting like spoiled brats who've lived with the better stuff so long that you can't stand to use the things that us normal people use, while we find nothing wrong with using the regular Runescape window. Honestly, if you can't live without SS (and seeing as how most of you who use it are arguing that it gives no real advantage, it shouldn't be that hard to give up) then you're pathetic.
