I like it alot.

Except the foot to our left needs some reshaping, it seems a bit "thick"

Ok the foot on the top is supposed to be the left foot right? The problem is it is bent left which means thats supposed to be the right foot. You got the feet messed up. LOL. This happens to me. YOu're working on something and it works out great then there is this little annoying [puncture] that ruins everything.

i dont understand why people think "low colors" is any different then "high colors"... in my pixels, i usually keep the max colors to 32, but really, i dont use nearly as many anyway... why limit yourself to like 4 colors...? there is absolutely no need. trust me, i know this. im making a rpg as we speek :-$

the piece itself is fine. i dont like the pinkish bg, just make it white or trancparency.

the feel and legs need to be a bit thiner, and she needs more curves. her breasts are to big and look like shes wearing pads. to fix that, just shade them more on an angle. i also sugest loking into more dithering tecneques. they help a bunch with low color counts

again, nice piece, but there are my crits. use em if you want.

Low color is different because trust me, it is much harder to do.

The bg well, who cares lol I can make it transparent or any other color, doesn't really matter if you ask me.

As I said, I will rework the foot, and thanks for the rest of crits

To the other guy, no the foot aren't messed up, it's just the way I drawn them that can be confusing, trying to fix that aswell

sticking to a certain amount of colours goes back to the beginning of pixeling because it's main use was primarily for gaming, having a certain palette was not because they wanted to make it hard for themselves, it was because technology was still developing.

Today it saves precious memory, so in all, the game runs much smoother (making a game you should know that). Though pixelers today may not have to stick to so little colours it's nice to do it how it's originally supposed to be done, you should only use as much colours as absolutely necissery, and no more.

ok for this woman I think the face could do with some very slight tweaking to suggest depth inbetween the eyes, some colour in the lips and some general changes to soften the faceshape more, plus the shadow of her hair.

The proportions look pretty good, but whats bothering me is that the chest looks as if it's far too wide running up to the shoulders.. as if she's taking a deep breath or something, also people usually have lower neck holes on their t-shirts, it looks contricting on the throat and makes the neck look shorter

as always you can AA as it works to your advantage when it comes to smoothening/making colour transition easier on the eye.. if you learnt how to dither and you're using well I don't see why you shouldn't be learning AAing.

vistame09copyhr8.png

i just don't see why people count the colours....what difference does it make if you use 10 colours or 110 colours as long as it looks good. anyway back to the drawing looks very nice except, as has been said, the feet

sigggyjv2.gif

Sig by me....

O there is a difference ...

The limited number of colors presents a challenge when attempting to convey complicated concepts and ideas in an efficient way.

and terley just gave u an explanation worth looking at to about the limited color count.

and the file size is smaller when u use less colors...

why ells would dithering exist its to blent to colors togetter but If u want to ase 110 colors U don't need to dither U just trow in andother color...

Basicly true pixel artist will apreciate the smae picture in 10 colors then when u make it 50 colors ... as well [wagon] true pixel artist don't use any line tools or filling tool, as they feel that U don't have made the sig yourself but let the line tool do the work for u ....

U can have endless discussions about resolving to nothing...

on topic :

terley the torse still doesn't look good imo there is no curve at her back looks to straight

other then that its looking good exept maybe the left feet and the hand

whatcw4.giflol3qy2.png

woah born2die are you fealing alright? that spelling and grammer was terrible! you must have just typed "u" at least ten times...

please, for the sake of this forum, type out your damn words >.< *remmembers those old sigs that advertised good gramer*

i shouldnt have said that low color counts arent good to have, i just dont see the need to make a piece out of lets say 10 colors, when you could have made it 3 times better by adding two or three more tones...

i think your palette needs tweeking, to add a bit more contrast on the shadows, and a bit less on the highlights. i think her breasts are still huge, and her feet, as you said, need fixing. if i get time later ill make a small edit, but nothing mutch.

Eckered doesnt seem to comprehend the challenge or skill raising potential of restricting yourself to a low color count. Perhaps a 'pixel god' doesn't need to. Maybe he hasn't thought of the benefits of learning how to maximize the potential of all colors. Who knows?

Note: Don't talk about spelling or grammar Eck, please. You look even more foolish.

Another note: "i dont understand why people think "low colors" is any different then "high colors"... in my pixels, i usually keep the max colors to 32, but really, i dont use nearly as many anyway... why limit yourself to like 4 colors...? there is absolutely no need. trust me, i know this. im making a rpg as we speek"

I don't need flaming thanks.

And thanks terley for the edit, I reworked the legs+foot so they don't look inversed. I'll also study your edit and improve my version. I'll post an update when I have time

And eckered, I usually do sigs with much more colors, just tried one with a low color count to see if I could do it. No need to start a debate over that :?

you guys still don't get it, pixel art is all about only using as many colours as absolutely necissery. It shouldn't be a certain number unless you're working to a certain palette for gaming purposes (whether that be actually making a game or just practicing for sheer interest), each piece is different, whilst working you judge how many colours you need as you go, if two shades just aren't working and dithering doesn't make that much difference, its your decision to add that extra shade if you feel it needs it.. But I do think keeping below a certain amount is vital, but it depends on the size of the canvas you're working on, you can't use as many colours as you do on a sprite with a full size pixel piece like 500x500 for example..

vistame09copyhr8.png

Terley pretty much summed up why color counting was done. Now there is not really much reason for it, you can't really say that it's the way it's supposed to be done. It was done that way for a reason. Now that reason doesn't exist. If a pixeler simply wants to give themselves a challenge thats good, but I don't think it detracts from his/her work if they don't limit themselves to a certain amount of colors

on topic: Huge improvement over last time I saw it. Can't remember where, but it definately looks better now. But that foot is really big. Looks swollen  :D

well yes there is no need for it, but while you're on the topic, there is no need for pixel art in todays gaming world, less and less people are interested... So why are you all trying to be pixelers?? if you don't care about keeping your colourcount down then you may as well brush your work on photoshop..

Yah, there is no need for pixeling. I do it for fun, just like any other kind of art.

wow, i never thought anyone would beat die2kill noob

im really sory about this incredably spammy/flamish post unknownz.

i just really felt the need to shut this nub up for a minuite so that maby he will think before he posts more random crap like that >.<

Now now people, there's no need to be so hostile :shame: remember what they say about winning an argument on the internet is like, of course this raises the question of what does that make of the person who lost an argument on the internet....

As Terley have said, it's not just about using low amount of colours, it's more about using the right amount, having unnecessary colours and shades that are too close together is just a waste.

Now something that's actually on topic, the girl looks quite nice, but the shirt seems a bit too featureless... making the boobs looking a bit fake, a bit of crests on the shirt would propably help and the darker outline colour might be helpful for this. The thing the really stands out is the left feet, the legs seems to go about in the same direction yet in the end the left feet suddenly twists around in an almost 90 degree angle making it look like someone chop it off and place it there. May placing it in about the same position as the right feet might look better, though a bit stiff, it's less disturbing than a broken ankle :P

Anyway, here's a rough sketch of what I mean.

legsek7.png

keep up the good work

image1ne5.png

her left wrist looks too skiny and here left foot looks too fat and without a arch. Also here chest weriod shaped judged by the shading.

Looks really good, well done, apart from the foot, all is good
