The thing is, magic has taken a lot of power in f2p already. Over half of the players I see in f2p wilderness are mages and are actually the only threat to a player like me. If you give even more magic items, then meleers and rangers won't stand a single chance and they will mourn for more stuff and it would just expand further and further and we will come to this again : They have that, you have that and we have nothing. Endless spin.

Mages are supposed to be able to kick a Warrior's rear. At the same shot, Warriors are supposed to be able to kick Ranger rears, and Rangers are supposed to be able to kick Mage rears.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

That is the intended design of the Combat Triangle, and as it stands, such is not the case. (That is what began this thread!)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mages and Rangers are currently getting the short end of it, from what I have been able to see so far to date. If anything, Rangers and Mages are finally calling for balance against the Warriors.

No, the way I refer to it, freeplay is dependant upon combat as one of the major in-game activities. Yes indeed, there are quests, and tradeskills, and you could always do as I do and just jerk around aimlessly. Like it or not, however, combat (that curious blend of violence and competition) is a major selling point for videogames, and has been for quite some time. If you wish to contest that, I'm listening.

Then pick one of the suggestions that doesn't involve giving us members items? Seriously, I don't see how making mages "more powerful" is a problem, when at higher levels, they're currently underpowered in the first place.

Go onto the official forums, hop into the rants section, and read all 50 pages of the drivel there. If you can't find even one comment about any element of the combat system being imbalanced, this point will be valid. Otherwise, you're talking smoke and mirrors.

Multiple things to say. Pyrex and holierthanu, the "f2p don't pay they don't get anything" isn't worth diddily crap anymore, so don't use it, and yes, f2p does pay a little, we never said as much as members, but they pay, and whay they pay is worth at least one update a year, and also, making something members for mages available to f2p is not the only option here. And furthermore, if f2p melee and range were to complain, it would be stupid, seeing as they already have multiple sets of armor, I'm a f2p hybrid, and I never have said about melee or ranged, now have I?? You know why, it's because there is absolutely nothing wrong with them! People like you only want to sit there and say how we don't deserve anything, how we always are complaining, but so far the only one I've really seen complaining is you, you wanna cry and complain??? Thats because all he does is spam threads really, he sees something with f2p in it, and he goes in there and spams it, he doesn't have a real point, hes just being rude and trying to boost his own post count, the only way he can prove me wrong is by paricipating in a positive and constructive way in this and other threads, or to just say that he doesn't support, and gives a valid reason, not something thats been used around 300,000 times (don't even know how many times really).

Komodo, have faith and patience in your idea. I'm sure it will take a while to gain the popularity of Prankster_King's "More F2P Bank Space", but I am sure it took his thread quite some time too to get the popularity it has now. ;) ... (If I had to siggy it and people are mentioning my name on arrival, that has to say something about how tough it is to get supporters.)

Bumping again, and thinking, how about for bonuses that were not mentioned be given stats of plus 15 everthing, except for ranged which would have like minus 15 or something, can be tweaked if needed

I personally think these numbers are plenty reasonable. I've compensated "-2" for a normal F2P cape on range, but left enough to make the robe set seem at least like it is worth something. Once you add it all to a 'mage staff', plus any ammy, plus an Anti-Dragon Shield (which mages use a lot), it all comes out pretty well, but NOT as good as Mystic (from what I know of that, anyway) by a reasonable longshot... and it even gives "prayer freaks" (ME! :thumbsup: ...) something they want.
