Interesting read, I'll leave it a week or so to see were this game goes before i waste my points on "Levels" that will never be used when i could have some nice new armour or another energy saving item. :P

Started new account: flipflop v2

I'm having fun playing the game, but as it's a new game, there's obviously going to be flaws. As you pointed out, the scoring system needs a bit of an overhaul, but this is something Jagex really couldn't gauge properly until it was released. Pest Control got points updates, so this probably will too.

Another thing is the Defenders tasks, no-one wants to be defender because there is just so much to do.

Collect Logs and Hammer

Fix Traps

Fetch Bait

Drop Bait

Call Horn for the Healer

Compared to an attacker who has to attack, and call the horn.

The main reason the role fails is that the Runescape interface is just to clunky for the baiting system, by the time the bait is dropped, it chages, and the runners no longer follow it?

Also, as you mentioned, the Interface for the cannon. My Internet connection and PC are high spec, yet the cannon interface lags like hell. It needs to be made so that it doesn't close when you get hit.

I think the only thing wrong with the defender is that the traps have only 2 uses.

And for finding a team. It's pretty easy when you get at a higher lvl. I'm only 89 combat. Yet I can get in 90% of the lvl 100+ teams because I'm a lvl 5 defender.

First it was fun, but after MANY rounds it just starts to feel boring as there is a lot of noobs who don't know what to do.

I just had a team with the healer being clueless (He didn't use the horn and even said "I cant pick the eggs") and his friend blaming it on dyslexia... Would you go see an art gallery if you're blind? Would you play football (soccer for americans) if your legs are disabled in someway? It's the same for this game, if you're not smart enough to understand the game rules don't even bother.

"300 programmers make their futile but glorious last stand against 1000000 angry players in The battle of Misthalin. They fight for honor, glory and new content sacrificing themselves so that their game may live on. This is Madness! This Is JAGEEEX!"

Great post. Much agreed.

Also, this may already have been said, but the reason for no cb exp is everyone would want to go Attacker, putting even more strain on the less popular roles such as Defender.

People would complain about "The new Pest Control".

Usualy this is what i consist my team of...

Attacker - High level (Most of the time me since im a lv 5)

Defender- Anyone really could do this...We had a 49 that got us all the way up to the queen.

Collecter- Anyone smart (I hate when people forget to yell out the attack commands)

Healer x2- Someone with a good def and Hp lv and good judgment

You dont really need 2 healers except when you start getten in the higher waves cause boy does it get intence...

Hmm i should make a guide on this...

i meant to say healer and collectors job are fairly easy comparing to fighter and defender.

If you be a defender, you can scratch your entire head off. No kidding

I still think healer has the hardest job.

Defender has the most stressful job (Cause its so damn hard to get the runners on the trap) but you dont realy need one (Except on the queen wave) since you can kill the runners with the egg cannon.

Collecter has an easy job and it helps alot towars the end.

Attackers job is plain and simple but requires alot of trust on the collector to yell out the right atks constantly. I understand sometimes you forget but constantly forgetting to call out the atk your supposed to do can sometimes get very annoying.

I totally agree with you (and mostly also with the creator of this topic).

I started to be a healer (first i was the second attacker, then we figured out 2 healers are more needed) in round 9. I could only heal 10 and it was very very stressfull. After like 5 tries, we made it through round 9 (we = random team, every 3 or so waves, someone left...) and we went to queen. With 2 attackers, and I as the only (lvl1) healer, we miserably failed.

So i restarted again at wave one to collect more points. Got stuck in wave 7 (team left again, and finding a good new one takes AGES.

Then i FINALLY found a good reliable team, with an EXCELLENT defender (he got lvl 5 through the process) and then we went just up to the queen and made it. I was so glad (and yes, we used 2 healers then, two lvl 3's including me)

I agree with your gripe about the attackers exp, i'd like some. We're not hitting huge numbers or anything, it's not killer training, but i'd rather we got some than nothing.

Other than that, I love this game, it's what Rs should be about, fun and enjoyment. I've killed the queen a few times. Sometimes with scratch teams that just about get by and others with decent teams. If you have a few friends who are up for a game every now and again it's well worth it.

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

A lever requirement is certainly not neccesary. Deffenitly the 100+ att requirment. I've done it a few times now and I completed at least twice (can be more) with me highest lvl (95) and an under 85 combat lvl attacker.

I've done one game with only 100+'s. And thÃÆÃâÃâát was boring. I mean there is totally no kind of task in it anymore. The attacker just uses full guthan, the defender hardly gets any damage (me) so the only left to heal is the collector  .

But I have to agree on the gamble option, I just used it for the first time and I got red chaps -.- . (High gamble)

They need to make something better for that, I wanted at least 100 rune arrows for that effort.

But if you take a quite low team (Just shout: "Starting new team 80+ or lvl 3+" I got a team quite fast a few times now that way.) it's really fun, the healers have to run insanely, it takes the attacker quite long before he killed all (1/4 left when queen arived) and collector needed to stay near the pool all the time and sometimes run very fast to grab a few yellow eggs and immediatly needed loads of heal.

That was fun, that was exciting! (eventhough I was the most boring/hardest job, defender)

And I actually like being a defender, it's quite a task. Yes, we always get 10- for escaped runners, but at least 8 for runners killed.

I like that job!

and we went to queen. With 2 attackers, and I as the only (lvl1) healer, we miserably failed.

So i restarted again at wave one to collect more points.

Can you start again at wave one? I never knew that, but I wonder why anyone would do that. I mean I've killed queen twice now with 2 lvl 1 healers.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

As long as you have a good defender, you will easily win. The first time my team got to the queen, the defender either died or wasn't doing his job and just running around like a chicken without a head. If your team is experienced it will go a lot faster. I hate it when people say good (enter role here) and they have no clue what to do.

Ex: Yesterday, it was around wave 7, and some mid 80's said "Good lvl 3 healer here!", so we got him on our team and started the game. As I was attacking Penance Rangers, I was getting low on health so I called for the healer. He comes over and says "Go heal yourself". He kept saying it over and over and finally he says "Timmay you noob", so everyone on my team started yelling at him because he wasn't healing anyone. He was a noob that didn't know what to do.

Barbarian Outpost is totalt cool but alot of things you say are wrong

(In my opinion that is)

I think the game is totaly cool and very intence but i agree it could use a little work...

And also where you say healers and collecters dont do anything at all...

Thats total BS...

Ya the collector may have a easy job but the healers have the hardest job of all, especialy toward the higher waves.

Constantly running back and forth while being shouted at can get pretty stressful...And if somebody dies...most of the time you are the one they will blame. Now how do you think that makes them feel?

i agree with him. It is very hard having to heal 2 people saying medic at once, and especially on wave 10 when queen pops out every singe person is asking for medic... even medic itself and on top of that queen is hiiting u hard

You would need like level 2 or higher or else the team will die and blame you which isnt good

this game defiently has its flaws, but i find it very fun with a great team of friends. This game defiently is a game for fun, not for profit or anything...I think its nice to have those every once in a while. It's the first game where we have assigned roles and really really requires some teamwork, which is great

It's amazing.. I'm a level 5 defender.. and I have no problem whatsoever stopping all of the runners..

I think they call it.. strategy ;)

Proud founder of the Myriad

I would like to make two points:

1. It WILL get updated. Every minigame to date (I believe) has been tweaked in one way or another after release, and since this game needs more tweaking than most, let JaGEx do their job before lighting any matches.

2. If you dont like a certain role, DONT DO IT. Everybody seems to have preferences, and that is good. Despite what most people believe, you do not have to achieve level 5 in all roles, just perhaps level 5 in one or two.

wierd, i got xp from earth waves :-k

Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....
Noob problem is definitely noticeable. Low levels couldnt even play this game( I would love you to prove me wrong ). Recommended level? 100+. Not kidding. We picked a level 60 attacker one time, wow that was a pain. Watching him dying on the last Peanace fighter when we were all done? Not fun.

I'm combat 63, level 5 Healer. I think if someone has the intelligence to know what they are doing then any level can be good, except attacker of course which pretty much keeps the rest of the team alive by making sure they don't get attacked by so many monsters that they are killed. I often am chosen to play for people with 110-120+ Combat as a healer because I am a high-leveled healer. I heal 35 Damage in one Drink from the spring/one Potion used on a Player. It pretty much just matters on how you use the skill and not you being the skill. Your going to think "Well with level 110-120+ they probably don't even need a healer that often. Well I also beat the queen twice with a level 70-80 Team. Just proves my point even more.

congratz on all lvl 5 s

i actually played a game with a lvl 66 healer(lvl 5) he wasnt bad, and i only played with him for wave 10.

he must be a sharp lad.

Most healers we get never blow their horn.

Making defender job very hard.

its really sifficult too when defenders wont call either :?
