Mauls.....are they underrated?

Too me a maul is an insane killing weapon in the wilderness and all places that is PVP that I can pot and use prayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With the maxt strength bonus you can have with a maul and 99 strength you could hit 3 x 43's in under a second....even if they eat a shark and have 99 hp you could still Ko them easily with this sort of a hit, and with decent bonuses it is actually quite accurate. Maybe reaching round about 100+ crush bonuses.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It just seems killer when you put it in perspective and too me it is the mostly deadly special in game.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So what do you think of Granite mauls? Under rated or just just a brick...

Personally I've only seen pures with them. Also are they good for regular training? You have to take that into account.

They are good, as with all weapons with a special..if you have a second weapon too use afterwards.

Hehe I think it's just a brick. :P Along your line of logic, with maxed str bonus on a DDS (around 80 :wall: ) and 99 str, you can hit 8 34's in 4 seconds. Keep in mind that the maul is actually used quite a bit by pures and lower levels.... once again, most people prefer the DDS, and then a whip. With the DDS you have a higher margin of error: with the maul you HAVE to get all 3 attacks high, and if not, you're sunk, out of specs. With the DDS you have 8 attacks to get in 99 damage at the very most.

Their a nice KO weapon if you know how to use the specials but I still perfer I finish pkers off with my good ol' d mace 8-)

But again, that's just taking into account the amount of damage it can do in a small amount of time, there's also the factor of the damage dealt over a long period. I'd say it's just a Pker's weapon, good for killing, bad for xp (compared to other weapons).

I used the maul when it was good and when everyone used it-that was the week it came out. it had a good speed and had a good special, i loved 3 hitting mages with 33 33 33

I came up with your idea once, and tried it out at PC (some lucky noob got me to buy the thing for 200K, lol). DDS was better; 4 extra hits v. 2 extra hits on your spec bar. Poison makes a difference, esp. in PC.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Plus the thing makes you look really noob.

only use 1 special at a time, or it will slow you down an attack ('bout 3 seconds!)

it is quite inaccurate compared to dragon dagger special and can not be poisoned- also only 2 specials.

That's because when you have full dharoks, you can get a very good special effect, and it doesn't do anything to the special bar.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

While mauls take energy from the special bar, you you have to wait to use the special again, and mauls are really only good for the specila, so if you can only use it once or twice before you have to recharge it, and it's slow, what good are they?

defiently underrated...everyone was crazy bout em when they first came out...it died down eventually however. Thing is, they hit hard, but are slow...so great for dueling or pvp combat, but not terrific for training, because most people value the whip or d scim because its faster but hits just a lil less.

it's all oppinion and the flow of popularity and fads...once whips finish their rain as "OMG THE BEST FREKIN' WEAPON!!!!!" mauls will have their chance to move up...lol : :P :

Its just a brick if u ask me but the maul is fun with pots+prayer+speical=fun!

DDS is better to ko fast.If you have a nice str level with a dds you can easily match the dmg of a maul with 4 35's.Unlikely hits in a row though.I doubt anyone would hit 3 43's in a row.I do f2p pking and i love the 2h.I can hit 17's with my pure.Its a decent wep.Mauls are okay even though they are slow and are not good training weapons because of their speed :P

It also carries a higher risk, you attract more attention, and it costs thirty times as much.

Exactly. It's been nerfed and is just a weapon for level 60s now. :|

I dont really like them for anything but quick finishing blows just like you said. For training or for any long term battles its terrible. Also I doubt that the special is more effective than a dds with a super set.

I don't know. You have to choose between DDS or Granite Maul. Although you could kill pretty quickly with them, they are not exactly very accurate. I'd probably go with DDS because you can hit 8 time total if you spec. That's quite a bit of damage, even if you average to 10 each, that's 80 damage!
