Smithing Mith

Ok some I've almost got enough experience for Addy smelting. I've decided I'd rather smith my mith bars for the experience versus selling for profit. What is the best way to go about doing this? I'd prefer to smith something(s) that are easily sold/in demand from other players. Suggestions?

NOTE: Already have a small collection of mith throwing knives(1k+) and was wonder if I should keep adding to it? I don't use them but maybe they are saleable?

One idea is to smith short swords and sell to the guy on the second floor of the Warrior's guild.

He gives high-alch prices for most weapons.

Mith smithing gives 50 points per bar, regardless of which item. At the warrior's guild, you

get 780 gp per sword (I think) no matter how many you sell. (Think "noted" here!)

Of all the mith items, this gives the best gold/bar ratio in this method.

If you hang out around free world alot (aka not a member) you might want to consider making full sets of mith with or without a weapon. Normally you'll find someone trying to buy a full set of armor (I saw about 5 people buying full sets for 20k today). If not that I'm thinking mith arrows (since you don't really want to use the knives).

If you're a member, make mithril arrows. Then you can use them for range training/slayer training.

People always seem to forget that almost everything in RS leads onto do something else. Just because people are buying or selling stuff doesn't mean you should too.

If you're non-member, then just smith plates and alch, or sell to alchers. The above rule doesn't work on the unbalanced free game ;)

Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores:

Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

Make mith plates and then either alch them or sell them. Free players, what with their very limited supply of stuff to alch, will happily buy mith plates for 2.9k.
Mith plates alch for more than 2.9k..

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

High alch for 3120, so buying them to alch for 2.9k only allows 220 for the nat to break even.

Right, but unless you craft your own nats, your nat will cost you over 300 gp, so you actually make more profit by selling the plates than by buying nats and alching them. Free players are willing to lose 100 or so gp per alch in order to get mage exp, because there are very few things available in large quantities for them to alch. Depending on whether or not you want mage experience or to take the time to craft nats, it might be more worthwhile to sell them to free players.

Free players will often buy anything alchable for 200 gp below its alch value - steel plates for 1k and mith plates for 2.9k are the most common purchases.

^^

the only way to make a profit from mith is making arrows entirely from scratch - plus there's the fletch and wc xp

Back by popular demand!

And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.
