Monticelso
Well I saw something about a Video Game forum however I couldn't find it/or it hasn't been implemented yet anyway i'll post it here. Has anybody played the Splinter Cell series, there are four of them now. I'm pretty sure you've heard of them (well if you are a console gamer) as they are on most consoles. Well anyway I got the new Splinter Cell-Double Agent game today and I have done about two levels on it and I think it is awesome. I found the graphics weren't that much of an improvement on Chaos Theory however the story line is much better. You get a fair few new gadgets aswell which are cool/like the finger print scanner and compact gun. Splinter Cell games have been critizized before of being to repetitive but with the new double agent feature you have to do special objectives for the NSA or JBA(bad guys) that occassionally conflict. You have to make decisions that affect the outcome of the game for example at the beginning you have to decide whether to kill a man, the NSA tell you to keep him alive however if you don't kill him you lose trust with the JBA. Basically I think it's cool anybody else played it, or any of the other games in the series for that matter? My favourite used to be the first game but this may take over it havent decided yet. What do you as tipiters think of the games?
timmay929
I played one at someone else's house, and didn't get to play for that long but it did seem like a pretty good game. I'm not sure which one it was. Next time I get the chance to play it, i'm gonna have to sit and play it for a while to see how good it really is. 122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting
rocketman089
I've played through the first one and Chaos Theory, and they're awesome games. I didn't think they were repetitive just reeaally hard. I've been meaning to buy Double Agent but i've been sucked into GoW and WoW. Monticelso
Yeah they are hard games buts that what I enjoy about them :) Makes you think and work things out, theres alot of different gadgets to remember aswell so its a bit daunting when you first start. But you soon get into them.
Parabola
I think they're overrated, very linear, and obvious console games.
Nadril
I think they're overrated, very linear, and obvious console games. Pretty much agreed. I tried the first two and didn't get very far in them. They were pretty boring and it seemed like you had to do some things *just right* to get to the next part. knives669
Though they are very linear, I love the Splinter Cell games. :D
Monticelso
Anybody care to elaborate on the word linear? I think with the new game you have to make quick decisions throughout, there is no set path and there are (I believe) 3 to 4 different endings. I find the story lines more believable than other games in that genre such as 'metal gear solid' which well...the only reason you buy it is for the cutscenes. It's realistic as it only takes several bullets to die, in most shooter games your character can have 100's of magazines bounce off him without a hair out of place. However Sam Fisher pants and slows down while making heavy breathing noises when shot more than once.

They were pretty boring and it seemed like you had to do some things *just right* to get to the next part.Yep, but when you execute them in just the right order and at just the right times, it's a site to behold. They are high quality games, solid 85%'s. I agree, them being too difficult to execute kind of takes away some fun, but it also means once you are used to your limitations (like, say, in the end levels), it becomes exciting, fast-thinking fun, because it's just no fun to get caught. And also, with the more recent iterations, it's less linear and the missions aren't failed as easily. I have played SC and Pandora Tommorow, and I have Chaos Theory but haven't played it. I'll get DA when it's $19.99.

Yes it is frustrating when you have to be in a paticular position but often with a bit of common sense it is fairly easy to think about what you're doing. Or you could just run around in circles until you get the command screen  I think your analysis is a good description of the game to, it is fast thinking fun. I enjoy the realism more than anything, that is a truly unique part of the game. The final bosses aren't huge terrifying bosses with twin mini guns they're hard to kill don't get me wrong but in a more believable fashion. I advice you to start playing Chaos Theory as alot of people say thats the best one :)
Kiriyama
Fact it forces you to use stealth makes it unappealing for me, even the stealth sections in San Andreas bored me. On Black Project mission I was like forget stealth, your all going down. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
goldphishies
Amazing games, beat 3 of them. They are only good if you like the stealth type games though. If you prefer the run and gun types like Halo 1/2 or Medal of Honor, this isn't for you. But i still reccomend it. Tigra00
I played the latest one, Double Agent...It's a really tough game. I'd only let myself pass a level when I could do it unseen, and each level took me at LEAST 30 tries each...Maybe more. It can be tough to just make everything work. :P The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! Freesia
I've only seen my friend played 1 or 2 missions on chaos theory... Especially the bank mission, think it was 3rd or 4th mission, #-o the alarm music made me laugh. unfortunately, my friend's computer is not compatible enough to play DA Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(. stevepole
I love the series its one of my favorites, but in the new double agent game some of the missions aren't so good, I do like the trust part of the game.

cyco
I think all Splinter Cell / Rainbow Six / Tom Clancy games are terrible. I don't know why, but I can never play any of them. They either bore me or the controls suck or you have to have a team. :shame:
