Trade_With
Anyone know of Lucid dreaming? I found this interesting article while doing some research on dreams. Lucid Dreaming Now, it's quite a long read so i'll try to sum up what it is. Lucid dreaming means dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming.Lucidity usually begins in the midst of a dream when the dreamer realizes that the experience is not occurring in physical reality, but is a dream. Often this realization is triggered by the dreamer noticing some impossible or unlikely occurrence in the dream, such as flying or meeting the deceased. Sometimes people become lucid without noticing any particular clue in the dream; they just suddenly realize they are in a dream. A minority of lucid dreams (according to the research of LaBerge and colleagues, about 10 percent) are the result of returning to REM (dreaming) sleep directly from an awakening with unbroken reflective consciousness. Now the possibilities of harnessing this are immense. Imagine a world where anything is possible, without fear of death or injury. You could live out your wildest fantasies: Upon hearing about lucid dreaming for the first time, people often ask, "Why should I want to have lucid dreams? What are they good for?" If you consider that once you know you are dreaming, you are restricted only by your ability to imagine and conceive, not by laws of physics or society, then the answer to what lucid dreaming is good for is either extremely simple (anything!) or extraordinarily complex (everything!). It is easier to provide a sample of what some people have done with lucid dreaming than to give a definitive answer of its potential uses. For example: Often, the first thing that attracts people to lucid dreaming is the potential for wild adventure and fantasy fulfillment. Flying is a favorite lucid dream delight, as is sex. Many people have said that their first lucid dream was the most wonderful experience of their lives. A large part of the extraordinary pleasure of lucid dreaming comes from the exhilarating feeling of utter freedom that accompanies the realization that you are in a dream and there will be no social or physical consequences of your actions. One might think that this is a rather intellectual concept, but an ecstatic "rush" frequently arises with the first realization that one is dreaming. Doesn't sound too bad eh? If your interested in more that article explains ways in which to help induce lucid dreaming. I have always been fascinated by dreams, and am almost certain I have had unintentional lucid dreaming before and have saw small premonitions in my sleep ( nothing like terrorists attacks, just little things that when they happen i get a sense of 'I dreamt about that') For the next month or so I'm going to try and purposely have a lucid dream. Has anyone else ever had any sort of lucid dream, or a really freaky dream that they wish to share? @Trade_With
jemathonical
I have the occasional lucid dream. Its great, like, I know that I can't die or anything, so I do whatever. Other time, as soon as I realise that it is a lucid dream, i wake up for some reason :-k ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!
Viktorkrum77
I love dreams where you dream you are waking up and going to school, but are really just dreaming. Or my favorite dream, where I dreamed I was sleeping and dreaming, so I was dreaming about going to school. But it was really just a dream, and when I woke up I found out I was still in another dream. So I dreamed that I was dreaming that I went to school. :) :P Me doing staff. Adam007
I often have lucid dreams - just rarely during the school year since I don't get much sleep. I really love having them though. I've done tons of reading on them, and have tried the reality check methods, but I really can't train myself to do those in my dreams. You really need to ingrain it in yourself to be able to automatically check whether you're in a dream or not, while dreaming. My number one tip for 'aspiring lucid dreamers' is to keep a dream journal (which the site actual covers on 3.2.1 ). One piece of paper to start is good enough. Just have it right by your bed, and as soon as you wake up make it a habit to write down as quickly as you can a quick summation of what your dream was about. Otherwise it fades away within seconds most of the time. This helps strengthen your retention of memories, and looking back on your journal is really fun to do, because you don't otherwise have any reason to recall your dreams, and they just get lost in memory. The piece of paper is like a dream photo album. Memories just rush back at you by reading it.
Rebdragon
Looks like yet another thing to develop and further tear our culture further and further away from reality. i had one once. yomom1919
Every night I have "lucid dreams". I can even take it so far that I decide when I want to wake up. This weekend I was sleeping and dreaming. I decided, while in my dream, that I had enough sleep and enough dreams, and that I was going to wake up now. Than I opened my eyes and started my day. It happens to me all the time, especially when I have bad dreams, I just wake up. When I have good dreams, I always say, in my dream "aww man... too bad this is only a dream". malo2
I love lucid dreams, they usually happen in the mornings if you wake up, and go back to sleep. They're too rare for me though, I wish I had them more often, its like being a part of another world, instead of just looking at it. insane
I had a real one once. Like I went through all the reality checking in my dream. It only lasted a few seconds though. It took me a month of trying to have though... too much effort.

Errdoth
I think I might have had some of these. Does Arnold Swarteneggar narating your dream and you almost being "book-like" count? I know it's a dream, but it is as if I'm listening to my "dream-life" story happen? Anyone ever seen the movie click? Pretty similar scenario. I do that when I'm writing too, I'll be thinking and sort of 'doze off' and I'll be in my story, whatever it may be, and I'll be watching what is going on and being "there" in a second person sense, just with nothing happening to me. Eventually, though, I'll realize I am dreaming and expect to be asleep at night, but I'll open my eyes and see a couple of pages of writing in front of me of what happens. I can't control it though, it's really weird. Would that be any type of lucd dream though? Last.fm Signature Overlays
My_Eggs
I have lucid dreams quite often. Usually I know right away cause something very unlikely happens. Usually its my crush, who has a boyfriend, is kissing me. Then I know I'm dreaming, and I get to make things go my way...And no, I don't go farther than kissing her in my dreams, so to ruin that for some of you sickos out there. Lucid dreams are pretty fun, cause I usually decide when I want to wake up... most of the time its a few minutes before my alarm clock goes off. :-k 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. Adam007
It seems like you guys have lucid dreams most often right before you wake up because the majority of the time you only remember the last dream you had once you wake up. That happens with me too, but during a night's sleep the average person has a lot more dreams than he/she can remember, much of which are probably lucid. Kinslayer777
Perhaps not most, but considering that I do recall some, there are likely those I don't. By the way, this site got me into it http://www.dreamviews.com/learnable.php I'm fighting to get myself to restart my dream journal.
