DragnFly
With the DVD movement lately, your choices in movies have gotten more complex. There are several editions available, varying screen shapes, rated vs unrated, special editions and others. The rated and unrated are usually very little difference, more of a marketing ploy as i'm sure most of you are aware of by now. Special editions are just a way to sell more copies, usually including more extras which you'll probably watch once and not again. However the aspect ratio is a noticable difference. What I am curious about is, which do you prefer? or which do you usually buy? With widescreen, you (usually) end up getting the movie as it was intended to be shown in a theater, and is usually what most film buffs tend to prefer. With fullscreen, usually pieces are cut off the sides, but it is zoomed in on and fits your standard television. Fullscreen typically usually panning and scanning to view parts of the picture where the most action is happening at the time. Both have their ups and downs in my opinion, and I wouldn't mind seeing more DVDs include both formats together. Either as a duel sided disc, or including two discs with one on each. Nadril
Widescreen, without a doubt. Plus if I Actualy *gasp* watch a movie I'd watch it on my monitor, and its a widescreen.
Mercifull
I have a 32" Widescreen TV. When I watch stuff in widescreen it IS fullscreen. Nothing gets chopped off and its plenty big enough Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. indy500fan
Widescreen, even though all my TVs and Monitors are fullscreen aspect ratio.
unknownmasterofnothing
Widescreen gets a small picture on my tv, so I don't like it. My widescreen laptop is good for playing games though.

Augsback
DVD is obselete, all the hip kids are using blu-ray. That's not going to happen for a long time. The day will come eventually. Widescreen. Fullscreen is going to be obsolete soon with the emerge of HDTVs.
Caxis
Fullscreen. I don't have a widescreen TV, but my dad got an LCD TV and but I haven't seen any widescreen movies on it yet. I mostly watch movies on my PC, since overscan is annoying and I can use headphones, rewind as much as I like, and use subtitles.
foolgool
DVD is obselete, all the hip kids are using blu-ray.Sucks to be their wallets.Took the words out of my mouth. Widescreen is much better, IMHO. The code in my sig should say 1032 not 0132.
Devilsdragon
I go widesceen with the option usually I don't go out and plan on searching for a widescreen format or special edition, I know what movie I want and I take the one that's there(as long as it's a reasonable price)
BlueLancer
Any as long as I can watch the movie properly  Never cared too much about that.. But 16:9 WScreen aspect is cool for watching 'good' movies.

rocketman089
I like letterboxed versions better, but i'm not gunna whine if it's formatted because I really don't see the difference unless it's a small TV or something. dwarfdude3
I got a widescreen TV and it still didn't play widescreen movies in full screen, it was kinda stupid. I took it back and got a nice cheap fullscreen TV. I definitly prefer fullscrene over the black bars.
Bauke
Fullscreen vs. widescreen? Eh? You mean the traditional 4:3/5:4 vs 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio? I prefer widescreen. I have a widescreen monitor and I just like it better than my old traditional 4:3 screen. unknownmasterofnothing
I think most people will stick with regular tvs, and ppl with extra money and techies will advance.
tripsis
I never really had/have a specific opinion, but sometimes widescreen movies are a little *too* widescreen :? Maybe it's just me, but they seem so small and I can't stand it. That's the only time I'd choose fullscreen, but other than that it doesn't really affect me. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Celt23
With widescreen and a large TV and the volume up and lights off it feels like you are at the theater. Get popcorn and a cuppa soda if you usually have those when you go to a theater.
