Druid you can grind feral spec till 70 which makes it a lot easier then priests who have to wait till 40 to get a decent grind spec and pallies who never really get one.

Then end game as a druid you can spec dps/heal/tank whichever you prefer, priest you can spec dps/heal, pally is pretty much soley healing. My preference would be towards a priest. Hard to level up, but end game has the nicest array of healing spells. Race doesn't matter too much anymore, but there are still some that you would never choose (like troll for horde and n elf for alliance).

I wouldn't choose a shammy for much. There chain heal is nice but their totem range isn't too good.

You can buff it up to 40 yards which should be good enough for anyone.

I quite like paladin healers myself in PvP. Oh sure, maybe not 2v2, but above that... Get a proper LoS healing going and you can do some serious healing. A lot harder to manaburn than a priest too. Full pushback protection ain't that bad either, in larger battles. Blessing of sanctuary basically owns the crap out of a fair number of crowd control techniques. Bubble can be used on the rest. BoP on a focused target can be the difference between life and death.

In arenas (especially 3v3) we would always go after the pally to make them blow their bubble. Once that's done we'd nuke and burn everyone, it wasn't a hard job.

pally is pretty much soley healing.

Im a prot pally and have never been holy spec =D

I agree. Prot pallies have the best crowd control techniques and the specs ensure that you almost never die.

I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet.

Hmm, well I would be doing mostly PVE methinks. If I did do arenas, it wouldn't be hardcore. I wouldn't want to play a class I don't like just for the sole purpose of going to arenas at 70.

I think the paladin is eliminated for sure. I don't care for tanking (which is one of the specs of druids .. seems to be popular). I really like casters (sticking with lock mostly nowadays) and shamans have elemental as an alternative spec if I get bored with resto - priests have shadow too. Bah.. lol

I'd mostly be doing 5-mans/heroics and Kara - nothing too serious. How do shamans do in those situations? Which has less downtime when leveling/questing - shadow priest or enh/elem shaman?

Arrrgh, indecisive.

Came to Maiev to play with 2 good friends who have since gone back to rs, and I have no desire to so now I'm stuck on a server in a crappy guild with little/no friends so been contemplating making my return on Proudmoore :P Had a 60 Rogue there but moved it awhile ago so will be starting over^^

They have some nice buff options, that is for sure. However they just are not near as strong healers as the others.

One of the biggest things you need as a healer is for yourself to survive. Against a paladin team we just went against the paladin himself, ignoring DPS for a bit. After making him waste his bubble we burst him down. They don't have the defense options that disc priests, resto druids and restio shamans have.

Yeah the buffs are nice, and a BoP can be helpful in the right situtation but most teams would much rather a competent healer in PvP as well. Half of the time the healer is just working on surviving from the DPS that is trying to kill it.

DISC PRIESTS DONT DIE! EVER!

you can dps.. and dps.. and dps all you want. but pain supression means you just CANNOT kill one.

In the US Cyclone battlegroup, where Boulderfist-US is, the top 10 5v5 that has no paladin is exactly 1. All of the others either run with a paladin always, or more than 50% of the games played to get to the top. I wasn't looking that hard, but I didn't see a single paladin who'd lost more than won. In the EU Misery battlegroup, where Boulderfist-EU is, there's also just one team in the top 10 5v5 that does not regularly include a paladin in it's setup.

... I don't think they're Retribution paladins.

+1!

I've been playing my priests for months now and though I've read all of the guides, I can't help but dump my points into disc. #-o . Who need a 5% dodge chance when I can have +24 stam bonus :D .

Yeah, I'm leveling my priest as shadow (who said leveling them was slow??), totally blew through azeroth, but I can't decide if I want to disc or shadow at 70 (63 now). I have a load of shadow gear ready to rock with the moment I hit 70, but disc has been tempting lately.

disc > shadow in pvp no question.

Tk5SF.png

I know that, but my rogue is already sufficient in that area which is why I'm leaning towards shadow for some pve for a change ;)

BUT THE DISC!

  • Author

You can still PvP as shadow fairly well. I think I saw Neilyo (one of the top rogues in the game) 2v2 with a shadow priest in his video.

I'd still take a Disc priest over a shadow priest for a rogue any day.

Are there any other horde here who are having really long queue times for AV recently? It's an issue on my battlegroup (Rampage) and for the first time in forever, our alliance pugs are wiping the floor with the horde in WSG,AB, and EoTS.

Horde are using these battlegrounds as waiting rooms until AV pops once every 45 minutes. AV weekend was absolutely terrible. I won once out of 20+ games, and the majority of those games I ended up with under 60 bonus honor. While horde were able to get 500-600 honor per game. <.<

So far tonight I've only lost 2 of about 10 WSG games and all of them were Pug vs. Pug. I can't wait till I get this honor grind over with on my druid.

Ps. Anyone else find this as funny as I do. Official Uniform of the Alliance.

The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard.

^ When I did AV today it took me less than a minute of waiting for the 61-70 que.

Anyways dinged 63 today, doing fairly good in terms of gear now. I still need to upgrade bracers but the rest are golden:

Was just in a great underbog run today as well, one of the best I've been in. We had a 65 holy priest, 69 prot warrior, 63 enhancement shaman, 63 feral druid and me.

Yes, it made me very very happy. Battle shout / Leader of the pack / WF totem / unreleased rage.... all of these made me an insane killing machine. I think I had near 450-460 DPS or so during the entire run, it was just awesome.

Our group tore through mobs, the only breaks we took were before bosses. We didn't have a wipe either and no one died save for me on the last boss -- his DoT ticks HURT.

Anyways I'm just taking leveling kinda-sorta slow now.. I just wanna be 70 now again haha. :P . Pretty much finished with Zangermarsh now though so I'm going to move on to Tekk forest. I should be 70 again before I know it.

I'm finding LOTS of bugged quests. 30-40 bracket.

Hi everyone, I bought a 14 day trial for WoW. It's really cool. I'm a huge newbie though, only a level 12 paladin. Anyone have advice on where to level up and what talents to use? I was thinking about boosting my healing moves but I don't want to make a bad character.

Also, how can I get my skill bars like this?

[hide=Image]roflalliance.jpg[/hide]

Mine only has one bar of abilities and nothing on the sides....

Don't have much time but

@Robert: Go to interface > advanced > and enable the left, right, right 2 action bars, etc. You can have them be shown all the time (with gray outlines) or just have them enabled. They'll be there but will only be shown when you're moving skills to them. For paladins, you'll want to go Retribution to level - don't worry about your heals for now. I would put 5/5 in Benediction to start but either talent works. :) You can always start again with the talents - they aren't set in stone. This is called "respeccing." I'll help you more later with this.

What race are you, by the way?

@biox: You mean the new quests in Dustwallow or ? I'm curious to see how much easier it is without all the elite quests. And that Strangelthorn Fever quest with the gorillas got a major nerf as well I heard.

1) Thanks, I'll try that in a minute. My skill bar was full and I hate opening the book everytime.

2) Ok, I'll do that. How do I erase them? I put one in strength by mistake.

3) Human. I heard they make the best paladins on wowwiki.

I've been leveling in elwynn(sp?) forest but alot of those mobs stopped giving me xp.

Quest!

Don't grind, this isn't runescape mate. You level by doing quests.

Also for what its worth on my rogue I skipped dustwallow completly still, I hate it even with the new renovation.

Yes, there, also 4 or 5 quests in STV are borked, along with one I just found in Badlands.

You respec/erase your talents by going to a paladin trainer (in Stormwind for example) and hitting "unlearn my talents." It costs 1G the first time and increases each time you do it... so I wouldn't bother unless you have quite a bit of extra money to spare. As far as race goes, the only class that has race-specific spells is the Priest class. So really, race doesn't matter. I'm mentioning this because it is important that you play a race you enjoy looking at.. as you'll be looking at it for quite awhile.

World of Warcraft leveling is done by questing ONLY. You can grind and people do that.. but they're missing out on a faster leveling experience and a great game world. Erase EVERYTHING you learned by playing RuneScape and treat WoW as if it were a new game. Quests are visible as yellow exclamation points over NPCs and now they are also on the minimap. Do yellow quests in your quest log first - you shouldn't ever have to do orange/red ones if you collect all of them.

As far as zones go, Westfall will be the next zone you'll want to visit. Don't hesitate to visit other zones though. For example, the Dwarf 10-20 zone is Loch Modan while the NE one is Darkshore. It requires some traveling.. but it's good experience and you may prefer one zone over the other.
