Nanosauromo
So today I mailed a job application to my local Barnes & Noble. How long should it take for a prospective employer to get back to me? rocketman089
They usually won't get back to you, if an applyee (is that the word?) really wants it, they'll call back. I've had 2 jobs and that's how it worked out anyway, they never called back but once I called them I was in. Maybe B&N is different than fast food though. dusqi
Give them a week, then call them to ask how your application is progressing and if they'd like you to come for an interview. Annoy them, they'll mistake it for dedication. For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns. The time when the living and the dead exist as one. ctp080188
Depends on the company. I usually ask before filling in an application how long it takes to find out otherwise, I would take Dusqi's advice. SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.
Mercifull
If you arn't successfull for an interview they will usually just never let you know. indy500fan
Depends on what kind of company. I filled out applications at a lot of places, and they never contacted me again. Last week I sent out a resume to a company, and they got back to me the next day (a resounding no, they went as far as to say not only was I not good enough for the spot I was applying for, but I wouldn't have a spot anywhere in their company :o ). zaquierming
Call them in a few days. Shows them you're interested. Shouldn't take more than a week. hiddendark
Like people have said before: YOU CALL THEM. If you don't then you probably won't get the job. I would say give it 3-5 days, then call. Click here for my blog!Barrows Drops:

I can't believe I'm doing this, but +1. What's wrong with his post? No one here really knows. Basically everyone is just saying to call back after about a week. How can you not believe you're doing the +1 thing? You used to do it all the time. Try talking to one of the managers just to see if they are really trying to hire. indy500fan
How evil :| May I ask what company that was? Or if it's not a well-known one, what it does? Proctor and Gamble, I did make it sound a little worse than it was. That's basically what they were saying, just more politely :P . Fun fact: Cincinnati (where I live) at one time had more millionaires per capita than any other city in the US because of a massive forced retirement spree from P&G. Something with their pensions pushed a lot of people into being millionaires as soon as that happened.

Mercifull
I got an email from P&M once about making a little flash game for them. Ss_J9_Goten
It probably would take no more than a week, although where I currently work, it took them just about a month to get back to me.
