My brother and I were wondering, how does the plume (ostrich feather) get on the helmet while making a helmet with bars? Answer: Make special "enchanted" helmets with a new hunter animal, the ostrich.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Helmet Idea.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The idea is this, when making full helms, you get the choice of making a finished or unfinished full helm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you choose finished, you get a regular full helm, but if you choose unfinished, you get the helmet without the plume. Why would you want this? Simple, you can make the helm enchanted.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Making the potion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To make the potion to make the plume enchanted, you must have have 40 herblore. The ingredients are all herbs up to rannar, and you must use them in order. Then, your use the four elemental runes on a pestle & mortar to make elemental ash. Use the elemental ashes on the potion in this order: air, water, earth, and fire. This will make an enchanted potion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finishing the helmet.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Use the potion one the plume, and it'll become enchanted. With a crafting lvl of 40, use the plume on the helmet, and it'll become an enchanted enter metal of helmet here helmet, which gives an extra +5 to all defence stats, a +2 to prayer and a +3 to strength (thanks to jondea0 for the strength and prayer bonuses.)

 

 

 

Getting the plume.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To get the plume, you must hunt, yes hunt, ostriches. They are located in the desert, south of the shantey past. To see the location, look at this map:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To hunt them you must have a lvl of 30 hunter, and they have there own way of catching them, Giant Lassoing (name up for discussion). Here is a picture of the new section and what it looks the ostrich looks like:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You would buy a giant lasso from any hunter shop for 500gp (price nagotiable(sp?)).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, to make getting the plume alot, and I mean ALOT easier, you can buy a special ostrich costume from any hunter shop for 10k (again, price nagotiable(sp?)).

In the area, there would be little safe spots called sand mounds and you could stick your head in it! Lol, just joking but that would be a good idea.

i agree with almost everything. and i do believe it would be a good idea to have sand mounts or something to help camoflaage the hunter even better. But i guess u shouldnt need the ostrich custome it should just make it easier.

That's actually a really good idea.

That would be sweet, just I don't think they live in the desert :-k

actually they live in desert like surroundings and the closet thing to where they live in runescape is the desert.

Nice RS ostrich render :XD: This idea is pretty good, but I think the equipment should be more expensive, or the ostriches harder to reach because of the enormous bonuses from the new armor.

How do you actualyl use the giant lasso to catch an ostrich?

you would use the giant lasso on the ostrich and the higher your hunter, the better chance you have of killing it.

Second point. Every skill to make this is very very low, yet it gives bonuses even better then a legend's cape in some respects. You seriously need to bump up hunting, crafting and herblore requirements for some high level content. But otherwise, you have a great idea there! =D>

those strength and prayer bonuses are overpowered. also, you should have to get the materials yourself and have the costume made like the other hunter outfits. to be honest, theres not much point to this, and the current system is fine. so no support.

No. Stats are too close to the Neitiznot Helm, and ostriches don't even live in the desert. Tweak this idea, ALOT, or just scrap it, 'cause in my opinion it isn't going to have a chance of getting in the game in its current form.
