February 17, 200719 yr No, there is no such thing as a gay gene, the human genome was complete in 2003 and no such gene exists. However it is proven a lot of sheep are homosexual. I personally believe it is an uncontrollable event that affects some during their childhood and up into puberty for the most part. However, on the rebound it takes along time for neurons to change. But even without any evidence, it is still blasphemy to call it a choice, it is by far one of the largest mysteries in science today. It seems like I hear it "proved" either way all the time. One week it will be proved it isn't a choice, the next week they will prove it is. It is kind of a mystery why these "proofs" are contradictory, why they can't figure it out. It seems to me scientists should be able to figure it out, but then again I'm not a scientist and they are so I guess I shouldn't be making assumptions.
February 17, 200719 yr hemi- half Just a joke. A bad one I guess since I have to explain it. Number 3 as long as it's not having a negative effect on my life.

February 17, 200719 yr ~. Maybe it's just people unsure of their sexual preference (maybe bi), or maybe it really is just people coming out of the closet. Anyways, I read/saw a story in the news about a girl who was supposedly hetero as a teenager, experimented in college, and never went back. Just throwing it out there. I mean if you really believe sexuality comes from nurturing, you admit that with enough psychological influences, you personally have a breaking point in which someone could just turn you gay? That notion just sounds ridiculous. There's probably a point in time where it'd be near impossible for something like that to happen, but again, I'm not exactly an expert on the topic, so debate away if anyone else thinks you're wrong. And Vik, I have no idea about the prospect of "gay genes", so with your data I'm guna have to say I agree with you. February 17, 200719 yr Straight, and although I don't judge or dislike homosexuals especially, I still despise what they do. Anyway, in my uneducated (in this instance) opinion, homosexuality is a choice. People who are homosexual have the thoughts come into their head, dwell on them, then convince themselves that that's the way God (or evolution, whatever they believe) made them. Generally anyway. Cool.
February 17, 200719 yr Straight, don't feel as comfortable around gay people as I do around straight people but I guess it's their opinion. I have a gay step-uncle and I am not really comfortable around him when I see him. Not sure why I just feel hetereosexuality is more... natural? We were born to be straight IMO. Even then, I don't hate/dislike homosexuals.
February 17, 200719 yr it is still blasphemy to call it a choice, it is by far one of the largest mysteries in science today. Yeah, except you're assuming that all homosexual cases are the same, which you can't do. It's not a choice for you, obviously, but for others it is. Some people do it for attention, some people do it because they are made fun of for being flamboyant their whole life; they come to the conclusion that they might as well be gay. And Vickie, you can't argue that 'there is no gay gene', just because it hasn't been found yet does not mean it doesn't exist. Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.
February 17, 200719 yr Homosexuality is a genetic disorder, and we dont hate handicaped people so why hate homosexuals? This is a lie. There is NO such thing as a "gay gene". If you think otherwise, please provide the literature to back it up. Yes, it was rumoured a while ago, but the research was flawed. It might not be a gene but something else? Besides that, think about it: If homosexuals know they are disliked by today's socity, why would they continue to be gay? So its not 'a choice'. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
February 17, 200719 yr straight and dont care if people are homosexual but also a bit metro sexual :)

Don't want to change just because other people's opinions? I'd rather like guys then girls... It just feels different, better. Almost no one gets that unless they've been through it themself... I really have no idea at this point :P Right now I'm more gay then straight at least. But, I'm only 13 so this huge bubbling concoction of hormones could be fooling me lol.
February 17, 200719 yr It's genetic? :-k I never knew this. You learn something every day...I just thought it was more a nurtue than nature thing. Heterosexual/straight, and don't care if people are gay, just be gay to other gay people, not me. =; Some people SAY I'm gay, though, because I can see male nudity in art and not get grossed out by it, or see female nudity in art and not get turned on by it. Most people I know don't seem to get this. I could talk a lot about art, nudity, and the general philistinic stupidity of most people on the subject, but...I won't. I don't want to danger this with a lock. If some mod thinks that even that above paragraph went too far, feel free to delete it. Please don't lock this though, it's a legitimate thread... +1 I hate how people you 'your gay' as an insult. Whats wrong with being gay? No, I'm not gay

February 18, 200719 yr personally, I'm hetrosexual, but not really that thrilled about the whole idea of sex anyway. So I could be labeled asexual. I think that homosexuality doesn't really exist. A lot of people say they are homosexual, but I bet it is because of their want to be different, not because they have to. I think people can choose to go back to heterosexuality.

Why anyone would, I have no idea, but you can't just change which sex you're attracted to. Nobody comes to the conclusion that they must be gay since they're flamboyant/eccentric. You're either attracted to one sex or the other.

And Vickie, you can't argue that 'there is no gay gene', just because it hasn't been found yet does not mean it doesn't exist. No, I agree with you. Percentage of homosexuality varies greatly, and that's always been used against it. A study showed that something like 78% (98% said religion was important to them) of gay men were able to change their sexuality (but I don't believe this study to be valid or can relate to the gay community), but the others couldn't, maybe they were true homosexual? Besides that, only .05% of the population of the US supposedly is homosexual, though I believe that census to be faulty. I am actually for homosexuality being a form of non-harming mental illness or some sort of defect. Me doing staff.

February 18, 200719 yr what are you? Homosexual bisexual straight and dont care if people are homosexual straight and hate homoseuals/homophobic Sorry if this has already been said, but I don't want to muck through 5 pages. You're creating a false dichotomy between choices three and four. You assume that all straight people either have no moral problem with homosexuality, or that they hate homosexuals. Why is it not possible for someone to dissapprove of homosexuality without hating those who practice it? "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures.
