February 21, 200719 yr British Prime Minister Tony Blair announced he would be pulling out troops in Iraq, and Lithuania and Denmark declared the same. This is happening just as President Bush is going to send 21,000 more troops to Iraq. How do you feel about this? What kind of impact do you think this will have? Me doing staff.
February 21, 200719 yr Things get done eventually anyway, and there's a shift in which countries get how much blame. *Shrug* And Krum, would it kill you to just stick an EU flag in your signature instead of wandering around Europe like a schizophrenic migratory bird with ADD and an inferior sense of cardinal direction? February 21, 200719 yr Viktor's cool like that. There must be some kind of agreement about these troops. There should be a meeting to discuss it. America and the UK are supposed to be allies, so they, and the other countries, should come up with an agreement on the troops in Iraq.
February 21, 200719 yr The situation is different for Denmark & UK though. For example Basra(under UK control) is relatively peaceful compared to Baghdad(under US control) which is in turmoil. So this planned withdrawl is only reflecting the situation in the area being controlled by the nations in question. Anyway a UK withdrawl from Iraq will only mean that they will raise their numbers in Afghanistan and in nations where NATO peacekeeping missions are in progress. February 21, 200719 yr Ha, I wonder how many troops Lithuania had in there... the erban/metro area of chicago has twice as much population as the entire country of Lithuania. Anyways, less troops there is good, we're no longer stopping terorism, we're just giving them a reason for more.
February 22, 200719 yr We in England are told that it is because we're better at this kind of peacekeeping mission than the Americans, so we've done a good job in our bit of Iraq. In reality, I suspect that it is partly that, and partly the fact that Blair is leaving soon, and wants to feel like he's "seen it through". There is also the opinion in the country that America has taken the UK for granted and has been a poor ally, so we aren't going to give unconditional support any more. February 22, 200719 yr He probley is also getting out, because I am not sure, but I think maybe he has done some good things while in office. I don't think that he wants this to be seen as what he has done. If you get what I mean.. :
February 22, 200719 yr [sarcasm]NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! when britian pulls out it affect George Bush's mind and then he gets ideass of pulling out, and then the terrorist win!!!!!!!!!!!  :o :uhh: :shame: [/sarcasm] http://www.draynor.net/code/bar/Noobin\Please join my very new up and coming forumshttp://s3.freepowerboards.com/runeboards Feel free to AIM or MSNM me anytime
February 22, 200719 yr I don't see how there's anything wrong with their decision. I agree with you, I don't see what the issue is. Basra is a more secure place than Baghdad so they are pulling out to leave it to the Iraqi's. They can't stay there forever.
February 22, 200719 yr Maybe this will make John "I support the Iraq war" Howard to actually put his money where his mouth is. Sorry, but 1300 troops doesn't count. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

Your right, but our forces are stretched in Iraq, Afganistan and I'm pretty sure we still have forces in Timor and the Soloman Islands. Don't take my word for the last two though. The point is we can't contribute as much as the poms or the yanks ever could, which I'm sure you're aware of.

February 22, 200719 yr something scares me... If Bush sends too much troops there and leaves only %10 of them left in USA, terorrist will have a higher chance of attacking America easier...

February 22, 200719 yr Good, lets hope the US pulls out as well, even though they will more than likely just throw the issue around for several more years until anything gets decided upon, but wasn't Bushes push to send more troops rejected? ~^v^~Ex-Leader of the Divine Flames of Redemption~^v^~
February 22, 200719 yr Hopefully everyone will start pulling out now. Why are we still there? ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!
February 22, 200719 yr Hopefully everyone will start pulling out now. Why are we still there? To make sure the place dosen't fall apart. Would it be in our, indeed anyones interests to see further unrest in the middle east, particularly an all out civil war in Iraq? It's a hairy issue, but if we all just pulled out today, there would be little security in Iraq and the relations between the different groups would likely dissolve.

They are a country in ruin and leaving them now would see them collapse. They are getting better, but as the pollies say (and I actually agree with them on this point  ) withdrawl of troops should be conditions based, not set on a date.

Lol, dude... you don't think Bush is stupid, do you? Oh wait he is stupid... Anyways, I think it's a good decision. Let the USA clean up the mess they created.
