I believe Jagex will make another game, but in no way, shape, or form will it be like RuneScape. It will NOT be called RuneScape 3. And it will be totally different. (Maybe a Sci-Fi set-up).

I'd play that, if it kinda had the same set-up as Runescape. You know, trading, skilling, fighting, NPCs, cities.

Who here thinks horses (rideable) would be cool???? Have areanas for horse racing, and having pk groups with everyone having of horse. Of course you'd have to feed it, take care of it. And let it live in a stable....all on RS3! lolz

There wont be a rs3, but there will be a new game released by Jagex with similar style to WoW graphics wise etc.

The announced that they will not make another RuneScape. They will only update it.

In my honest opinion, RS 3 is a very *insert negative comments here* idea. (No offense to anyone who supported it, i just don't like the idea, not you) Why start up a whole new game when they have such a great one already? It would be much better for them to just continue with the engine and graphics updates to RS2. If there was a rs3, what d'you think would happen to rs2? It would fall by the wayside like RSC/RS1(Whichever you prefer :P), and it would at least shake, if not ruin, JaGEx. They have a perfectly good game, they don't need another one. Besides, I think JaGEx made their decision to continue with RS2 when they began the new graphics updates. After all, why put that much time and effort into something you'll soon replace? This has been discussed for a loooonnnggggg time, and nothing has changed yet.

The answer is already clear in this case: Jagex will NEVER make RS3, unless they decided to sell it to another company (Highly unlikely)

these days its all about graphics...

 

ill be playing rs at library or whatever then a random guy will come up and say "omg you play ruuunescape? its stinks the graphics suck"

 

and so what is it with every1 and graphics. i grew up with my n64 when i finally got a gc and mario i was like wow i dont think i like gr8 graphics on this game. now on a sports game i love the graphics but dont mees around with the good old 64bit game graphics thoase are aweosme to me and i wouldnt want rs with better graphics in fact, the rsc graphics get my vote those things rock. so its not about graphics its about gameplay is what im trying to say. if you put the best graphics in the world on rs but never inproved skills wuest stories ect... it wouldnt be good so sure get an rs3 but let rs2 be avaliable to the public again, for us 64 bit fans who missed it. i mean in rsc most people where i lived had dial up and there was no way i had cable interneet then. the summary of my long tideous post is me and some others i know (like 3 people) couldnt care less if rsc graphics were still used jagex bring rsc back for all of us old stlye gamers some dont care about graphics then theres the kids of like 8 years ago who think bad graphics are a waste of time and thats all for my long post bye.

If Jagex really wants to compete in the MMORPG business (which is still expanding rapidly), they'll have to come out with a game completely different from RS2. In my opinion they'll need far better graphics to survive as the years go by.

 

 

 

Personally, I hope they make an RS3 and I hope that the Runescape series lives for a long time. But like people have said, Jagex seems to want to branch out.

1. Runescape is one of the most well known mmo's out there. It is absolutly MASSIVE, and last time i checked it had over 15 million players. They compeat in a compleatly different way, and with a compleatly different claber of game than WoW.

 

 

 

Jagex knows they cant beet WoW. They also know they don't have to. The fact that most MMO's are relativly unknown plays hugely into their hands. They can keep their price lower than WoW's, thus giveing them some degree of attraction, and yet they don't have to wory that MMo's with lower prices will beat them out, because few people know about them.

 

 

 

2. Lets asume that I'm compleatly wrong and Jagex does need to compeat with WoW. They don't need better graphics NEARLY as bad as they need better gameplay. Graphics are compleatly secondary.

 

 

 

I know some people like Graphics more but lets use this as an example. lets say both WoW and RS cost $10. WoW has the same graphics as its always had, but it has RS style gameplay. Where as RS has the same graphics its always had, but has a WoW style gameplay. Which are you going to pick, WoW or RS. Anyone how has played wow will take it over RS anyday

I agree. WoW is all super polished graphics and killing. Quests suck as well. RS FTW \

They really can't make a big graphics update. Java will only do so much.

If there ever is an RS3 i think the biggest thing would be moving from java, which i dont think they intend to do being JAva Gaming EXperts

Heh, that's what people said about RSC.

I don't think there will be any RS3, but I think Jagex will make alot of impromvents in the future to the graphics, sounds and stuff like that in the future.

 

But I still think there would be very cool with a RS3...

Most likely there will be a RuneScape 3 unless Jagex sells up or RuneScape disappears altogether. It will appear when Jagex calculate that they can maximise profit from ditching RS2 and creating another updated version to keep up with the ever-increasing possibilities of computer graphics.

 

 

 

Then, and only then. I doubt they are planning it at all yet. RS2 is not a sequel to RSC though, it's more like Road Rash and Road Rash 3D.

 

In retrospect, it would've been cool to call it RS3D.

I think Jagex will work on a new game rather then another huge overhaul of their current game. At least, Jagex has mentioned a few times that they are working on a new game on their corporate site, if I remember well.

If they would make an RS3, (not saying they will or they won't, don't flame me for that) they would probably go to both the PC, by distributing VIA CD/DVD, and to the next-gen consoles.

 

Wii: Online=Yes (Wii-mote would rock for this.)

 

PS3: Online=maybe, might not be capable of handling such large numbers of players. (server overloads?)

 

XBox360 : Onine=Yes (unsure of maturity levels on this, though, because of all the XBox live chats that've been found to be...rather...distasteful.)

 

 

 

But, this might not be good. You'll get a younger audience, and thus more temper tantrums once someone gets pked, and then you'll have people trying to pull a lot of crap on there, like creating several accounts, and running one on this console, the other on that console, this one on the PC...

 

 

 

It'd be chaos. And there would be utter hell going on.

 

 

 

Solution?

 

 

 

Console only servers, and accounts for consoles MUST stay for consoles.

 

 

 

But, whatever. Just painting an image of the future for all.

After all, if Jagex made a Rs3 with better everything they would lose a chunck of their customers that play Rs because they have a crappy computer. In 5 years, when everyone with a crappy computer will have gotten a new one, then maybe.

To be honest I don't think there will be a RS3, they will keep adapting to the game we have.
