October 17, 200718 yr McClaren didn't do a bad job! He started with a very strong team but the enemy was still very good. I do not believe it was the manager that let us down, it was the players. I keep thinking of Gerrard's chance and how it would have changed the game completely. Gareth Barry was good again, and so was Campbell. There are a lot of high expectations being England manager. Look at Sven for example, he did a great job for England but due to the Media press he was basically forced out. Now he is doing great with Manchester City. I'm sure even the likes of Mourinho may not be as great with England as he was with Chelsea. I think we should stick with McClaren because he does have some good ideas. Especially on the Barry/Gerrard, Wright-Phillips/Richards partnerships. Retired 8th October 2007 | 99 Fishing | 99 Cooking | Owner of a Red Mask and 2 Santa Hats |

Maybe so, but there's no denying tabloids get way too... emotional about this stuff. It wasn't like England performed particularly badly in my opinion, and I say that as someone who deplores England in international games, except for perhaps a few errors in the defence. Russia were given far too much space on the wing. You could argue that when you're given that much space, the chances of picking up a penalty go up that little bit higher when the defence starts to panic. End of the day, Russia were the better team. That's not McClaren's fault. He's done well rallying up the team, considering the position they were in three or four matches ago. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
October 21, 200718 yr at least leeds won again! they will go back up as Champions IMO www.PETAkillsanimals.com
October 21, 200718 yr Im just worried that teams are starting to sit back and defend against us, but that;s what underdogs do in their cup final I suppose.
October 21, 200718 yr Well, The Reds were lucky :P This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
October 21, 200718 yr Well, The Reds were lucky :P With some... questionable calls shall we say ;-). Rafa made a gutsy move taking off Gerrard for Lucas, but it worked out perversely in the end. As for Arsenal, nice to see Toure get his first goal of the season. He's been blasting from that range for awhile, but usually ends up hitting the post or forcing a great save from the keeper. And Walcott's been improving a lot lately - first his assist for van Persie's goal match-winner against Sunderland and then again for Rosicky's goal yesterday. Bolton simply couldn't handle his pace.
October 23, 200718 yr Arsenal 7-0 Slavia Prague Haven't seen the highlights yet, but oh my. Cesc and Theo both grabbing a pair, Hleb forcing an own goal and then getting one himself, and finally Bendtner to wrap it all up... I think the only angry gunner right now is Jens.
October 23, 200718 yr Watched the Rangers-Barca game. 0-0 Pretty boring really. Barcelona were all over them, but it was a good result for Rangers.

Cesc and Theo both grabbing a pair, Hleb forcing an own goal and then getting one himself, and finally Bendtner to wrap it all up... I think the only angry gunner right now is Jens. I watched it, was so awesome, 3 spaced out goals in the first half, one in about 4 minutes one at about 30 minutes and then one at 40-ish. Then straight into 2nd half Arsenal score 3 in about 10 minutes, rest of the game Arsenal had about 5 more chances but couldn't seem to score then the other guy scored in about the 86th minute. Best goal was probably the first though. Sig by me....
October 23, 200718 yr It's exactly the same thing as last year for Arsenal, with a copious amount of chances. The big difference, of course, is the confidence to be able to score without Terry Henry. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
October 23, 200718 yr Watched the Rangers-Barca game. 0-0 Pretty boring really. Barcelona were all over them, but it was a good result for Rangers. Yer same. Can't believe Barca didn't put a few past Rangers. Wish I'd watched the Arsenal game instead TBH, looked way better. Well done to Man U as well.. a convincing away win tonight, 4-2
October 24, 200718 yr The teddys did pretty well on an 0-0 draw. It wasn't completely one sided either, although barca had most of the possession.
October 24, 200718 yr Liverpool v Besiktas (first half over) Our strikers are really poor, we should put Hyypia up front 2 in 2 games is by far better than our strikers. And the noise the Turks are making is getting annoing! A friend to all is a friend to none.
October 24, 200718 yr Benfica 1 - 0 Celtic. Can't believe we lost a goal in the last few minutes. Out of 15 away champion league games, we haven't won a single one. Oh well... hopefully we can still win our home games and still be in with a chance of qualification.
October 25, 200718 yr The crowed in Turkey sang/screamed for the whole 94 minutes none stop, the atmosphere was so immense even I felt intimidated sitting at home. On the performance; Our 2 strikers Kuyt and Voronin were none existant especially Kuyt in the second half. The man just seems to run up and down the whole game without any effect. And when Voromin gets the ball his head goes down and he loses all sense of his surrounding a bit like Baross. The midfield did well Gerrard was in control more often than not and Mascherano was there to pick up the pieces . Pennant& Babel were average but they lack experience at that level, Babel seems to waste a lot of good chances also. The defence is where it all failed for me, even Liverpool's 2 most reliable players IMO Finnan&Carragher, lost concentration and were not involved in the game. Riise had again a sloppy game, giving the ball away, making pointless runs with a crap cross or an even worse shot. Hyypia is the main problem, the man is too old, he isn't affective on corners and he is just too slow. I'm sure there must be someone better in our reserves. The man that impressed me most when he came on was Benayoun; the man showed good link up play with Gerrard, showed that he could hold up the ball and go past players. A friend to all is a friend to none.
October 25, 200718 yr I don't know what game you were watching, but it certainly wasn't what the rest of us were. For 10 minutes the midfield showed control, from there on, it was shambles like the last month. Gerrard is either grossly unift orgorssly out of form, but in either case, needs to be dropped, for the team and the player. Mascherano has been having to carry him in the middle of the park, as have his team mates, epitomised by his substitution on his biggest match this season. Kuyt was the only man prepared to make the link between midfield and attack. As a striker, this shouldn't be his job (all the time), yet he was the only one with the work rate to do so. The wide-men were picked for their pace to worry the Turkish line and they certainly did that - given the sparse service they received. They didn't have many end products, but...then again, it's Babel and Pennant, what did you expect? Hyypia is certainly not the main problem, in fact his presence has galvanised a frailing defence. Arbeloa has been missed badly, but Hyypia, with all his experience and positioning (he's never relied on his pace) has given at least a shred of reassurance to the back line. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
November 8, 200718 yr Celtic 1 - 0 Benfica .... woohoo!!! I'm happy. Next up.... Scotland vs Italy. A tough one. If we lose, we're out... simple as that.
