October 4, 200718 yr The man who ran onto the pitch is banned from Celtic matches for life. I just don't want anything more to occur. Dida wasn't actually hurt and I hope he is actually punished instead. Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements
October 4, 200718 yr I admit, I was being a bit extreme, but that's mainly to do with my frustration. You see all these sporting gestures recently, Forest Leicester and the free goal, moves to eradicate bullying of the referee and all this, and you think, "Hey, maybe the players are getting their act together" and then some mug in Scotland, who have done so well in re-establishing their force in football, both in Europe and Internationally, goes ahead and reminds us the other big problem in the sport: Idiot fans. To be honest, I don't think Celtic should be punished as harshly, but to say it's a minority of fans is ambiguous, it's a growing population and it ruins the game. I do think, however, they should have to play a few games behind closed doors. So sorry, I was speaking in hyperbole before, but I hope you see my reasoning. Your one to talk about a set of fans you idiot. your fans are worse. Stealing tickets off kids.

It's no secret that I'm an avid Celtic fan, so you may think my views are a little biased. Anyway, I agree with the life ban this fan has received and I think he should be sued. I also believe that Rock Steady, the group that provided security for the stadium should be sued for allowing the fan to run onto the park and then failing to catch him. I think that Dida's theatric attempt at an oscar will actually help Celtic's cause. There was the lightest of possible touches from the fan, whom Dida then proceeded to chase. He then fell down and was stretchered off with an ice pack on his "terribly wounded" face. I was more embarrassed about that than what the fan did. But what's really annoying me is that Celtic's greatest European victory in years has been basically ignored thanks to a moron. I'm gutted about that. P.S. my throat is still killing me from all the shouting at the game ;)
October 4, 200718 yr I agree that Celtic should keep better control of their fans as a general rule but you can't legislate for one single muppet, especially when looked at in the context of the events. The guy should never have been there but he was never a risk to anyone, that being said I'll concede that he could have been. However, I don't think you can treat a potential risk to players in the same way you treat a case were a fan has attacked somebody on the pitch. I have no sympathy with Dida though. This is a man who has been the victim of real fan violence when an Inter fan threw a flare at him. I'd have expected that Dida out of everyone on the pitch that night, wouldn't have been so cynical. I was wrong. edit - can I point out I've no bias on this, I'm a Rangers fan rather than a Celtic fan trying to defend my own team. October 4, 200718 yr Just to add a wee side note. UEFA are creating a very dangerous situation if they levy anything heavier than a fine for the behaviour of a single fan. Suppose for example, an Everton fan decides to attend a Liverpool game, invades the pitch, hits the ref, then runs off. Maybe he's caught, maybe he isn't. Either way, FIFA/UEFA would take action against Liverpool. This type of thing could occur anywhere in Europe. So where exactly do we draw the line?

If it's in the same country, wouldn't it just go to the FA? Like when that Spuds fan threw a punch at Lampard last season?

I think thats different because the Spurs incident was in a domestic game that was under the control of the FA. I think UEFA have to handle this because it's in a UEFA competition, which would make it under UEFA's legislation. So in the hypothetical that was given by Harrington it would depend if it was a domestic or European game. Well thats my understanding of it anyway but don't take that as 100% accurate. October 6, 200718 yr 15 points Who gives a f**k? We're super Leeds and were going up Now above Huddersfield :D :D :D
October 7, 200718 yr 3-2 Arsenal over Sunderland. Really close game - our defence is going to cost us one of these days. Lehmann will be pushing to get his spot back from Almunia so we might see him there next week. Great goals from van Persie, Walcott was impressive, but I'm disappointed Hleb's injured again (groin).
October 13, 200718 yr Scotland 3 - Ukraine 1 Another great win against the odds, it was a tough match but we got through it. All we need now is 4 of the 6 points left and we're through. Georgia away this week and then Italy at Hampden next month - Bring Them On! :D He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
October 13, 200718 yr England 3 - Estonia - 0  I still think we should never have got ourselves into this position where we are fighting for 2nd place but seeing as we are currently 5 ahead of Russia, it looks good. EDIT: did watch, just thinking about Russia now >.<..a little too much Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements

October 13, 200718 yr Pathetic preformance from Holland. That would be because Van Basten's on his way, my man. Possibly to Chelski, but that's only if Rijkaard turns down the job first. Then Marco will go to Barca. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
October 14, 200718 yr 3-1 bloody brilliant. I feel so good. Me too :D *hoping Scotland-Italy will be anything besides a draw to salvage Les Bleus' campaign* :-P

I feel so good. Me too :D *hoping Scotland-Italy will be anything besides a draw to salvage Les Bleus' campaign* :-P France have got quite an easy run in though right? Lithuania then Faroe Islands? Italy have Scotland then Ukraine away I believe. (so maybe the Ukraine will do France a favour) lol Scotland has Georgia away then Italy at home. It's still wide open.
