runescape on the wii?

Featured Replies

well, as im sure you can guess from the title, i want to know you guys' opinion about being able to play runescape on the wii. if you can't guess, i have one myself and am currently typing this post on its internet channel.

i personally think that itd be pretty interesting to play using the wiimote, but chatting would obviously be out of the question. at the moment, the browser lacks the ability to play java things, but hopefully when the final version is released, it will be just as capable as any pc browser.

what are your thoughts on the matter?

The Internet Channel is only useful for watching pr0nz. Anyway, that's all I use mine for.

Just kidding :o

I think it'd be nice to have your TV set to picture-in-picture with one screen having runescape while you train, the other a TV show/movie. The final version of Opera's browser will be out soon - let's hope it'll support java.

well they said it should be released sometime this month, so my two biggest concerns are it being able to support a multitude of media formats, including things like java and flash, as well as being able to update those freely as well as add new things, like, for example, the combined community codec pack(CCCP) to play almost all movie formats without problem. if they add those things in, then it should be fairly perfect.

even if the wii internet channel supported java i probably wouldn't play runescape on it because of the lack of right clicking

Don't Click This

There has always been a single click option on rs, so right clicking wouldn't be a problem.

On my mac i dont have a right click ne way

i hope these autoers are ready cause here comes tztok-JaGeX!!!

That sucks.

I like to see Java with the win. Wouldn't this consider being 3rd ware software? :-k If not they would make it a rule probably :notalk: .

Quit RuneScape :)

Heh I guess if you used the control to fight NPC's to see which moves were most effective.. Otherwise, imagine how tired your arm would get of swinging the controller to get mining xp.

lol that'd be interesting. imagine...

*swinging the wiimote over your head to mine

*slashing witht he wiimote to kill things or cut trees

*using the wiimote as a fishing pole or harpoon

*using the wiimote to pick a target, then using the nunchuck along with the wiimote to fire arrows at people

*using the wiimote to draw magical rune symbols to use magic

thatd just be odd... 0.o

and @ 0firzen0:

its easy to make a pc game that can be played on the wii. theres already tons of them on newgrounds.com.

You wouldn't be doing the motions of all the various skills with the wiimote..

It's pretty much just using the wiimote instead of a mouse, and playing on your t.v. You would still just click on a rock to mine it, or click on a tree to cut it.

It's not like all of the sudden you get to control the movements of everything you do :-s

or pickpocketing...or wcing...or fishing...ugh, the pain is limitless! :o

anyway, i don't see it happening, but it would be very interesting :-k

which is why i said the word "imagine" before all of that.

at any rate, though, i wonder if it would be that different playing runescape on the wii. i mean, you have the differences in the mouse, and a lack of chat. maybe youd be in more danger of being reported for autoing since your not talking? :ohnoes:

I figured the "That'd be interesting" was referring to the idea of playing runescape on the wii, not to the post above yours. I guess I'm not thinking straight right now :?

Anyways..

I have a nintendo wii, it's fun, but I don't see the point of playing runescape on it..

Is it so you can use a remote control instead of a mouse? I don't see much of a difference..

Even if RuneScape did work on the wii i would probably only try it once. I almost never use the wii browser it is just some much easier to do everything on the computer.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I tried out the wii browser once, haven't used it since..

They said they'll never have RS on a cd or on any other system -.-

cursedtoastsignature.png

Come to #tip-it on Swift IRC, if you're cool

Yeah, it would be very cool if you could play RS on Wii. But I doubt if JAGeX will release it to another system then on the internet, on a computer tough :( .

...Probalby not.

But you could always dream.

maybe you guys are a bit confused. the wii has an internet channel that it uses to browse the web. if that browser becomes java compatable, then we can play runescape on the wii without the need of anything extra on jagex's part.

JaGeX would probably support it because it would reach a bigger customer base. Lol.

Impossible, you need a keyboard and Java, you can not download Java on the wii. :x I know..because I already tried.

You can actually do that now, it requires a TV that takes picture in picture and a computer. Ive done it before, but its not very comfortable. as for the wii, I have no idea as I do not own one nor do I plan to buy one, not before I get a ps3 anyway.

It would be hard to type....

and my arms still hurt from playing the wii for 35 hours on wii sports just to get a mii named michael j to 1500 bowling skill .=p
