Heres my guide folks: A salve amulet (e) does amazing things. too bad you have to waste so much time going through tarn's lair huh? Well here's how you don't haveto go through tarn's lair... But stillg et a salve ammy (e) in about only three minutes!! \'

 

This thread is now useless. Let it rest in peace. I don't want it locked so it can be an example of a good guide :twss:

You must complete Haunted mine, and you must have a slayer ring. A slayer ring is purchasable from any slayer master for 75 slayer points.

 

Quests required: Haunted Mine and Smaoking kills. Both quests quite easy.[/hide]

 

 

 

Now for the real guide :thumbsup:

 

What you will be wearing:

Honestly you don't need armor or the meat tenderiser... You could probably three item this and be fine. Just be sure to bring a decent weapon. I used a saradomin sword but a dds alone will do fine.

 

Items required: 1.ring of slaying 2. weapon 3. teleport near a bank (I used varrock) 4. food is optional not needed

 

 

 

Step one: Rub your ring of slaying:

PLEASE NOTE:

 

i'm pretty sure you have to kill tarn b4 you can teleport there.

 

 

 

did you actually teleport there b4 killing tarn? because i think you only get that option AFTER killing him or did they change that?

 

 

 

a quick note: not that it matters but if you have a poh, tarn's book, after reading it, will be stored in your poh bookcase. just use book on salve amulet for (e).

 

 

 

You definately don't need to kill Tarn 1st to use teleport.

 

 

 

I suggest anyone who wants to tele straight to Tarn before doing mini-quest should do so sooner rather than later, my guess is the Slayer Ring will be 'adjusted' to stop this happening, as it kind of defeats the object of having that horrendous maze there!!

 

 

 

 

 

You will be teleported here:

Make sure you use the north entrance. When you enter you will encounter Tarn.

 

 

 

Step 2: You are now in tarn's room

You will go through a short cutscene. You will see tarn turn into a mutant and what not.

You will also notice that there are two level 110 terrordogs around tarn. You DO NOT haveto kill these. Just aim for tarn. Be warned your prayer will be drained.

 

 

 

Step 3: You will now wtf pwn tarn.

As you can see I killed tarn's first form with terrordogs left over... Don't kill these unless you want to.

 

 

 

And now that tarn the mutant is dead He will come back as a ghost or something.

Kill the ghost too. You will get 5k slayer xp.

 

 

 

And just to prove to you that you CAN kill tarn with a meat tenderiser: [hide=]If tarn was hard how would I be able to take all these pics and edit them all...while tarn was still attacking me :lol:[/hide]

Step 4: Go steal tarn's diary:

Congrats! You have now completed tarn's lair without having to go through the lair!

 

 

 

Now Tarn's diary has a purpose. It is used to enchant your salve amulet. An enchanted salve amulet lets you hit 20% more accurate and 20% stronger on undead creatures. If you use this ammy to your full advantage you can get over 100k experience an hour.

 

 

 

How to get salve ammy (e):

First off you need to sting your salve shard. To do this just use a ball of woll on the salve shard.

 

Then use tarn's diary on your salve amulet:

To be able to use a salve ammy (e) to its fullest extent here is a guide on how to get 100k+ melee xp an hour with salve (e):

I've never bothered enchanting my Salve Ammy before, because I couldn't be bothered to go thorugh the maze!!

 

 

 

You just got me 5k Slayer XP (now only 21333 to lvl 90) & Salve Ammy (e) - all in 2 mins!!

 

 

 

Whilst I was there I thought I may as well kill some Terrordogs, as i hadn't used any food on Tarn & within 10 kills I'd got a Granite Helm!!

 

 

 

Gratz all round from me.

I thought you had to complete the miniquest to be able to teleport there, or was that something else...

 

 

 

If not, excellent guide. It was such a pain before that I almost wondered if it was worth it or not.

Since i got the Salve (e) amulet does that mean I will start getting terror dogs for slayer? or do I have to enter the first part of the lair to have them assigned.

once you finish tarn you will recieve them

 

 

 

they are a great assignment

 

 

 

they drop g helms often that sell for 200kea

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

retrace your steps into the i think deepest level of the haunted mine, take a chisel and use it on the crystals there

Can you get this moved to Help & Advice - less people look at the Player-Made guides, at least by moving to H&A more people will get the chance to take advantage of this neat little trick.

 

 

 

Alternatively, start a 'discussion' about the possibility of Jagex nerfing the Slayer Ring due to possible bug abuse!!

Hello Saifzman, 10/10 for your guide bu this will be nerfed, I don't think your supposed to teleport there, anywho good guide m8, Why wasn't I in any of the hyt2 pix :cry:

OMG! Thank you for this guide!

 

I recently went to Tarns layer via slayer ring teleport, just to look around (curiosity killed the cat!).

 

Next thing I know, I was assigned Terrordogs, but I didn't kill Tarn yet.

 

 

 

Killing Tarn was so easy, I killed him in less than a minute!

 

Going through the layer looked difficult, slayer ring ftw.

I'd be pretty surprised if this gets nerfed. Getting the 75 points for one slayer ring takes a lot more time and effort than just walking through the maze and killing Tarn without teleporting.

 

 

 

not really

 

 

 

One bonus task from duradel is 75 points already and slayer is more fun than going through tarn's lair :thumbsup:
