magmaguard3
As you might know the Rare market is a tough buissiness to be part of. Many rares are considered "unsellable" and some rare prices rise and crash over night. But as the supply of rares deminishes over the years due to either bans or just players quiting without selling their rares, eventually there will be close to no rares in the economy. Now as to the fact that Runescape lives to see that day is anyone's guess, but what will happen on the day that rares become extinct or there is so few that the prices are so high that no one can afford them. What will become of the economy? Your Guesses Tip.it?
pryomancer
People will have more money, as it won't be locked up in items like party hats. Also if it is locked up, and the prices crash, that's a huge percentage of money in RuneScape just gone like that, until the price rises again. The Observer
Well, if something like that happens, hopefully Jagex will inject some rares back into the economy.
Brinner
I highly doubt they will inject tradable rares into the economy.
dru89
I don't understand the logic in a RuneScape economy. o_O Isn't is always possible to get more money? And not necessarily with too much difficulty? Well, if something like that happens, hopefully Jagex will inject some rares back into the economy. But if you inject enough they aren't rare. =P Probably a new drop from a new ultimate-monster like KQ, that'd be one way to go about it. The Observer
I highly doubt they will inject tradable rares into the economy. If the amount of rares dwindle to around less than 50 or start costing like a billion gp, then they should.
Derrick44444
I don't think rares will ever disappear from the game completely. You will have people that know they are never coming back, and do the drop party thing. I don't see RS lasting long enough for rares to be gone. And from what I understand Jagex hates rares, so I don't see them putting them back into the game. (Which I think is stupid these holiday items should be a reward for loyal players, only problem is people stockpiling the things, surely that could be stopped though.) Also the cracker is an insane amount of money and you can't even equip it. Any ideas how many there are left in the game that are active? @Dan3HitU
Rares will drop to a price where people can buy/sell and they'll rise/fall like all items. Go up 20m one day, go down 40m then even out the next day, that's how it will be due to the fact that the only people who really bought partyhats where pkers and rwt'ers to be honest. Koo
One day in the far future rares will just become extinct and be worth like 99999m each because there's only 1 left or something :P ^dds'er in progress =D
pryomancer
A rare is something of which there is a limited amount of. For example, whips were like 50mil when they came out, but now they are like 1mil (are they?). This is because the supply is continuous, as unless abyssal demons are removed from the game, or stop dropping whips, they will always be a supply and the numbers of whips will increase. Rares will eventually become extinct, as people die with them or get banned etc

Whips where around 50, I paid 42M for mine on the first day, now they're 1.4M each. Derrick44444
Jagex release Gs to make Players forgot about rares. Jagex wants people stop buying and selling rares. Yeah that's true. I remember santas being over 40mil because there was nothing else for rich players to spend their money on. So thus an increased demand. So now they update and here is the godly GS. People sell their rares to get a cash pile for one, and there is a bigger supply and less demand. Rares will eventually climb back up, but it won't be any time soon if Jagex keeps cranking out the new item updates. Atom Smash40
jagex removed tradable holidays because they "did not want people hoarding those one time items for easy money later on". theres no way they will put in more rares. and when rares become too expensive, theres nothing we can do. already the xmas cracker is too much and no one can afford (2day i saw with my own eyes a guy selling 2 of them for lowest on g/e). people want to get rid of their rares because its money that u cant use. ~ 3,072nd to 99 Mining on August 30th, 2009 ~~ 112,084th to 99 Magic on April 16th, 2011 ~~ 131,681st to 99 Crafting on March 29, 2019 ~~ 178,385th to 99 Prayer on April 2, 2019 ~~ 234,921st to 99 Defence on May 9, 2019 ~~ 173,480th to 99 Herblore on June 21, 2019 ~~ 155,160th to 99 Smithing on July 16, 2019 ~
acenator
If they ever get to that point at which nobody will buy them, then people wishing to sell will just lower their prices until people begin buying again. It's called supply and demand and it's in control no matter how much anyoone tries to get in its way. Price manipulators try to force people to pay higher prices by not being willing to lower prices. Others just shove them out of the way with lower prices that people will pay. Governments (or in our case, Jagex) try to control prices with price floors, ceilings, dependencies, and systems to try to keep prices steady, but we can all see what's happened because of those. Supply and demand, no matter how hard anyone tries, will always make sure an item(s) is at a price that people will sell and buy said item(s) for. > SELECT * FROM users WHERE clue > 0;0 rows returnedThere's no place like 127.0.0.1There are only 10 types of peoplein this world: those who understandbinary and those who don't.This statement is false.$DO || ! $DO ; trytry: command not found
magmaguard3
Do people Actually eat pumpkins? OT: I dont think Jagex would ever insert rares into the economy. Just would devalue them IMO.
Green8183
As people have said it, if no one buys rares their prices will go down because of the amount of people desperately trying to sell them at lowest price to get some cash for items that you can actually use and not just show off. The rares will eventually die out of course because of the amount of people quitting without selling them in case one day they come back in the game, or simply getting banned with them. But for the reason i stated above i don't think that the price of rares will ever go past 800m-1bil, every time it reaches its peak it will just go back down the next week. ~Main account permanently banned on the 7th August 2008~~New Account created on the 13th August 2008~ ~Never give up~
Lordjake
iirc, crackers were around a bil when rares had all skyrocketed for a month or two (I think summer of 2006?). but I can't ever see every type of rare ever getting that high, ever again. people are too desperate to make short term profit that whenever a rare makes them like 100k profit, they'll sell immediately, expecting the price to drop... and in doing so, the fear of price drops actually result in price drops. What's to say Jagex doesn't set up a few accounts to slowly pump party hats into the game when the supplies run low? There can only be, I'd say, a few thousand of each rare left. People get banned, easter eggs and pumpkins accidentally get eaten (Dunno why you would have it out of the bank without it being noted, but whatever). But the introduction of third age and god wars certainly made a few people sell their rares to buy the new armors and weapons.
Avid43
I'm 100% Jagex will never "inject" rares into the game, I like rares anyway, I got a Santa I bought for 12m and I will sell around November time for a profit I'm sure, last year they peaked at 23m so if that happens I will be happy, I know its hard to predict and if they don't reach a price I'm happy with then I will keep it an carry on wearing it... I don't believe there is anyway to dupe items at the moment. If there was there would be more than a few coming in. It would be like it was in RSC and people would be basically manufacturing them and all the rares would be crashing. So either post it here or pm me, because I'm pretty sure it can't be done.
