The Rubik's Cube

Hi guys, just wanting to know if any of you guys have ever done a rubik's cube! What are your thoughts on them? DO you like them? that sorta stuff.

I can solve a 3x3 rubik's cube. Fastest time 71 secs

I am working on the final steps to solving the 4x4

I have never tried a 5x5 or higher

I can solve a 2x2 but I didn't time myself.

Also if you have any questions about them, i know almost everything about them . . . well maybe, unless it's like the history of em lol

No seriously, I hate the things. They drive me mad i'm so inept at them. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can stand to complete one.

I played around with one what I was younger.. My friend had one the other day and the most fun we had with it was throwing it at each other before class :P

It seems like a lot of people that i talk to about rubby cubes say they throw it, whether its at each other, or the wall, or the garbage :P

its not really that hard, if u memerize the instruction booklet, but still the book is wrong in some parts, my friend taught me a lot of what I know, plus it's a series of steps you take to set the colors up in the right place. Your not just looking at it and trying to turn it and make it fix itself. (Well you can if ur super smart, thats y the world record is like 10.13 secs of something)

I can make one side in the right color with a cube that has drawings on it, but beyond that I usually give up.

Heh, I just don't have the patience to memorize it. Oh and we didn't throw it out of frustration, just for fun (we throw crap at each other all the time :P). And trust me, they hurt :-#

I didnt even know they came bigger than 3x3!

Well, with mine, if u peel off the stickers, they never ever never ever never if ur life depended on it, stick again

plus my rub off after i do it a lot, so i end up with half of it in hand made stickers with crayon, i think i'l buy a new one though, maybe a key chain kind to hane on my belt loop.

I was pretty impressed with people who could solve it quickly before I learned that all you really have to do is memorize some algorithms.

yep thats what u have to do, i am currently trying to find a decent speedcubing algarithm

I have tried for what would appear to be over a hundred hours spent over the course of around 5 years off and on to try and solve my 3 by 3. could you please post some kind of a guide on how to solve these things?

I can do them, but they usually take me at least 10 minutes. I use 5 different sequences of turns that gradually complete the cube, and I almost always end up doing the corners last.

I still have one sequence to memorize.

Accualy Ive been working on a rubix cube guide for a while, i may post one, but i dont wanna take the pics and stuff, and i cant realy draw, so it may be hard to understand

I can do em in 2-5 minutes. was obsessed with those speedcubing strategy sites, heres a pic of the first time i ever sovled it:

I'm so god awful at Rubix cubes. I don't get them. I can get one side, maybe two, but after that I just give up.

Once i was dedicated to solve it and managed to get it to a point where two cubes where in the wrong place. Frustrated i never seriously tried again. Don't know any algorithms. Guess then it'd be easy.

I can solve them once I get the top side done, once I get the top side I can finish it in under a minute

The top side seems to be the hardest to solve for lots of people. I just made up my own tricks, since there's not really and algorithms for the top . . . i hope im talking about the same thing u mean :P

Once you figure out how to solve that part easily, it'll become natural, you could almost do it in ur sleep!

3x3 forever!!

I can do it in under 5 minutes but still using the little booklet thing, its totally battered now. Its a fantastic feeling of achievment once you've done it though. It took me 3 months the first time cos I forgot about it and gave up, but I'm glad I came back. Just keep persisting.

My best time is 91 seconds, but I generally take 2-4 minutes. Took me forever to learn how to solve them :x
