A longboard generally can be as short as 25" (64cm) to around 60" (190cm) in length, but are not restricted by length. Longboards and the idea of longboarding predates most writing about skateboarding, so the inventor of longboarding is unknown. As well as being longer than a standard skateboard, longboards may also be equipped with larger, softer wheels which afford a smoother ride. However, there are many different uses for longboards. Because longboards are longer than a typical skateboard, it takes less effort to reach higher speeds and makes turning or "carving" much easier.

 

A fairly modern sport, originating in the US during the 1950's by surfers attempting to emulate the feeling of surfing on the road/sidewalk.

Longboarding is not a cheap hobby. If you buy a board you should commit to use it. A decent deck starts at around $80-$90.

I've always personally thought longboards to be more cool than skateboards. Those were some sweet tricks ^^ Too bad my balance is non existent.

What. I wish I could longboard. And my irl name is Sam as well. And I the aviators he had like a year ago inspired me to buy some. Which are really cool.

I've always wanted to Longboard. Seems like a mean way to get around. A few of my friends in my group do it, and it seems to be become more popular at my school. Shortboarding is also taking off at my school too.

ive heard of longboarding, the have some sort of movie with that guy from johhny tsunami from it, i wish i could longboard, skateboard at that to, i should try cuase i snowboard

Theses are my brother and my longboards. Mine's the one on the right (bigger one) but they're both about 3 years old now.

If you snowboard, you're likely to be good at both skateboarding and longboarding.

As in, do they require a lot of effort to get from place to place with? No. Not at all. Easier than a skateboard IMO.

Sector 9 is a great brand for beginners, I would try that. :thumbup:

How much are we looking at?

$150-$200. You could probably get it for less though.
