F2p Mage Proposal *Read it now!* 105 supporters!!!!
D. V. Devnull replied to Komodoman360's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
We discussed this once before and came up with 40 Magic and, for the robe top, 40 Defence. In addition, the concensus was that low-level mage pures are over-powered, while their higher-level cousins were lacking something, so these robes are meant to have steep requirements on them for their stats, and therefore will be the clothing of the higher-level mages, as they are the ones who will have really earned it. : ~Mr. D. Off-topic: I just checked on that. It is still there, and falls under "Rule 8: Multiple Logging In", so report under that, rune2ology. :) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
It isn't. It would take some custom work to add, just like PhpBB2. Ouch. :( ... BTW, I bet the thought that started this thread surfaced from someone seeing it on Invision or VBulletin... anyone wanna bet on it? :-s On a similar side-thought, sure, I know that phpBB isn't Invision or VBulletin, but one of the most basic functions that they have which phpBB doesn't is keeping people's "read status" in forums, as in, what they have read and what they have not. On the bright side, phpBB picks up in one spot where those others don't. It shows you all the threads you've ever posted in. But not having the "read status" markers almost negates the usefulness if you have to log out for any reason, including the proverbial "it is too late at night" thing. :| Guess I can just dream. ~D. More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
D. V. Devnull replied to Prankster_King's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
You do need the for pieces of armor, which can be transformed into a rune set when not using it. For weapons, you only need your scimmy and 2h. You need the bow and only 2 types of arrows (training and fighting). For mage clothes, you don't need the skirt, although leather chaps can help if maging without a safe spot (bounty hunter/clan wars). You only need an air and fire staff, as amulets are too hard to sell and just better to alch now. You don't need air, cosmic or body runes. You need the pickaxe and axe, but only feathers and a fly fishing rod as you can but harpoons and cages on the way to Karamja. You only need 4 ores at the most (2 for smithing, 1 for crafting and 1 for mining). You only need 2 types of bars, one for smithing and one for crafting, and 2 types of logs, one you cut and one you burn. You need the gp, but none of the random event items or quest items. You only need 6 types of foods (this includes raw and cooked). You should combine the doses of your strength potions and only have 1 dose at a time. You don't need any treasure trail items. This totala 35 items, and a couple spots for monster drops. ... Your not that bright are you? i think he is iwontpk is NOT that smart. :shame: Otherwise, they would register in their mind all the stuff that RC-training users and crafting-training users need, as well as some of the keys that F2P needs, then also certain post-quest rewards that should not really be tossed out under any circumstances, range ammo and bow options, mage ammo for those who use curse/confuse/weaken, and use a fire staff while fighting, etc. ... There are so many item types and things that need to be kept, and Prankster_King covered like most all of it, if not all. Heck, I even take the time to stack "Strength Potions" and "Skull Sceptre" parts, simply because of the fact that I keep coming up needing those items. This is either due to the need for a melee boost or a fast tele out of danger. This also helps conserve prayer points for situations where I need an infinitely fast escape option when things get critical. : All totaled up, I end up with 6 items still not in my bank and safe at night at this point, just simply due to the sudden landslide of things I now have to keep to move along in my personal smithing task, as well as to just simply stay alive. Oh, and that reminds me, I'm an all-mode combatant and skiller, aiming to be a true master of all F2P Skills. Dropping stuff is like asking to leave myself short if an 'Evil Chicken'/'Rock Golem'/'Tree Spirit'/'Shade'/Mega-'Zombie' shows up or something. And there's no way I'm gonna allow myself to die and end up in lumby again, no [bleep]ing way. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
If this happens, then it means that someone wasn't taking good care of their computer and also wasn't taking the time to keep it secure. Shame on the person for failing to study and implement their "Computer Security 101" guides. They should not be trying to complain at Jagex, as it was not Jagex's failure, but the failure of the PC's user. :shame: ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Life is not lived best alone. :shame: And in RuneScape, if you want the [bleep]ing quest cape, from what I understand, you have to have good & trustable friends. :!: ... Why? The whole "Shield of Arrav"/'Gang Wars' thing and all the related messes to it. If you don't already have such friends from that, such that your grave could be maintained, maybe you're with the wrong crowd, and may need the time pause? :-s ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

While I continue to wait for a response from Cruiser to my last post, I think someone needs the "riot act" read to them... ... Hey, cowman_133, do you know how to be more constructive with your bumps? ... Maybe, say, ask a question or something? Just simply bumping like that can get a thread locked and ignored on some forums! If you REALLY want a thread to bubble with good discussion, you toss in something for everyone to think about and reply to! So come on, stick something in already, would you? :-s ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Runescape site not working, help please.
D. V. Devnull replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in Tech and Computers
Let's hope it does. Not being able to get to runescape can be a headache sometimes. -.- <*crosses fingers*> BTW, I thought that Jagex had defeated direct world access with some kind of JavaScript or something? :o ~Mr. Devnull -
Real suggestions to yesterdays updates
D. V. Devnull replied to nitram99's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
A formula taking into account combat level, total level AND quest points (Possibly total wealth) would be the best. Agreed, just looking at it. Much smarter than limiting by any one aspect like what just happened. :? ... F2P is [bleep]ed in the trade system right now. :( ~Mr. Devnull -
Now that's one thing I've been itching for. And BTW, here's that rolling eyes emote... (LOL :P ...) ~Mr. Devnull

SirHemen, something I notice you have not mentioned... WHO IS YOUR ISP? <*Wonders if something is being glitched in your net pipe...*> ~Mr. Devnull -
I'm gonna support this. : ... With how things have changed, there is no reason to crumble the grave on logout, especially if it was caused by lack of knowledge or lag out. Further, those that lose connection (lag out) SHOULD be allowed to retrieve their stuff! ~Mr. Devnull

Took me 23 minutes past midnight to find this thread. HAPPY NEW YEAR, TIP.IT!!! Let's make this new year, 2008, a good one, eh? ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

OFF-TOPIC ............ BTW, I've shrunk to quote just what's needed here: OT: Is that your real name, Devnull? :P It is not my IRL name. "Mr. Delta Varuna Devnull" is only my online name. I don't know if I've revealed my IRL full name in these forums, but if I haven't, don't ever expect me to. I'm not gonna have some [long bleep - what I would have said here would have been blocked] spamming my IRL mailbox. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Real suggestions to yesterdays updates
D. V. Devnull replied to nitram99's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
in those trades can be items worth that much, not necesarly coins. this change is only for merchanters and for rwt's. would you want merchanters to be banned? come on, THINK!!! Okay, I can see you have misread me. I am not out to have merchanters banned, in fact, I wish to find some way to re-provide a space in which they can operate again. : In part of your post that is not in my quote, you show exactly what I was trying to point at as being how Jagex could rapidly detect what is going on. Let me show you that part: ok... rs gold buyer starts with 2 mil (pretty easy to get with wc, fishing, mining) trade 1 (takes 1 minute) rs gold buyer puts 2 mil worth (even items) rs gold seller puts 2.2 mil trade 2 (takes 1 minute) rs gold buyer puts 2 mil worth (even items) rs gold seller puts 2.2 mil trade 3 (takes 1 minute) rs gold buyer puts 2 mil worth (even items) rs gold seller puts 2.2 mil trade 4 (takes 1 minute) rs gold buyer puts 2 mil worth (even items) rs gold seller puts 2.2 mil trade 5 (takes 1 minute) rs gold buyer puts 2 mil worth (even items) rs gold seller puts 2.2 mil in 5 minutes 1 mil worth of stuff has a new owner. (start now with 2 mil+ 1 mil just gained) in 5 more minutes, 1.5 mil worth of items changed owner (start now with 3 mil+ 1 mil just gained) 5 more minutes, and 2 mil (more) of items changed owner in just 15 minutes (and i used 1 minute/trade, wich is a very exaggerated value) 4.5 mil just changed owners, using the 10% more suggestion. now guess how much time it takes to get to really expensive items, and tell me that there are lots of players in rs that would not trade 15 minutes of their time to get 4.5 mil rs coins. Okay, look at that rather detectable pattern very carefully. It is several trades occurring rapidly between only two players, as opposed to the 3 to 6 that a merchanter trades ONLY ONCE with in a 15-minute period. This is how I expect Jagex to rapidly detect any of these RWT occurrences, and put a fast end to them. 8-) This actually made me think of something, however. Why not add a block in the trade system (similar to what is in games like "Diablo 2") that keeps a specific pair of players from trading with each other again for 20 minutes of IRL (in real life) time, should a trade between the pair of players turn up successful? :-s ... In the event that an RWT situation attempts to occur, this would stop it rather hard, and deter a player from doing it in the future. It would also slow the RWTs down so much that they would not want to do their stuff anymore due to financial costs of time. :P Also, I know I mentioned it somewhere, but there could also be a base by skill total on how much of a differential in trades can occur. Since I'm on mental overload now, I'm gonna leave it out in the air here. ~Mr. Devnull -
Away Messages .:40+ supporters!!!!:.
D. V. Devnull replied to Georgelemmons's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I can think of an easy way to fix that. Just change where the friendly message splitter is located for the chat controls, and add options in the list that allow control of displaying such away messages. This way, the message itself does not need to replace an "Offline" marker. In fact, an "Away" marker in orange while someone is Offline would be more appropriate if such a message is placed, so that the option to retrieve the message would only need to be displayed for those names and not all the names. And WHY don't you like this? :? ....... Can you give a reasonable argument, and allow debate? Or do you just take pride in spamming a thread? You might find, after debating, that you really want to join! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
Okay... that does it... I've had it with people not thinking... Did either of you two notice the mention of it benefitting P2P?!?!? :x ... THIS IS NOT FOR F2P ONLY! :shame: ... This is meant to help all of those who become forced, due to 'Area Cramping', to wander such long distances and are being put at an intentional and extremely unfair disadvantage by Jagex that has gone on for too long, as well as create a better reward for a major quest!!! As it stands right now, they're being punished for trying to be nice/thoughtful, get 'out of traffic', and try something different, which I have to say, is a kind of discrimination that I personally don't put up with. All this kind of discrimination does is hurt the community aspects of the game!!! :notalk: 'Nuff said. I've had it with arguing with people who make me think they are "noobs". -.- <*DV walks out of the thread and slams the door behind him, hard. The mirror nearby falls off the wall, and lands without shattering, giving off one blazing resonant sound. He'll be back once he's cooled down on his own.*> ~Mr. Delta Varuna Devnull

Behold! Tip.it Staff RuneHead Highscore List!
D. V. Devnull replied to The Observer's topic in General Discussion
Getting a hair off-topic, but oh well........... Quiet nub. *slaps Sluggy* On Topic: Go me! : Could there be a F2P section of the list, just so that I can feel big? :P <*slaps Jem for slapping Fat_Slug*> No slapping the ladies, dude. ~Mr. Devnull -
This already happens, or are you suggesting it should happen? :-s ~Mr. Devnull It does happen, I've heard stories...... I'm assuming if you attempt to teleport, it explodes or something. (Like in Biohazard, if I remember correctly) What about Shilo then? Are there guards guarding the gate, and they confiscate it? If such is not the case now, it should be. :P ~D. V. Devnull

I can think of one awful reason for a hacker to get the pass and get into any player's account....... :| To ruin a player after they've caused the hacker some kind of in-game upset that the hacker thinks they have to get back at the player over. :( This, BTW, has happened to at least a few of my friends. I pray it never happens to me, and that's why I want this movement to succeed. To help both them and myself before it happens again to any one of us. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Captainkidd, here's one that might help, that I know someone uses and likes :) ...: '123ehost.com' does not give a free domain, but at $50/year for their basic plan, and $11/year for a domain name, and the sizes provided and such, you would have the room to make the site grow a lot. :D URL of web host: http://www.123ehost.com Good luck on making a decision. 8-) ~Mr. Devnull
