~ Updates to the Quick Chat System ~
D. V. Devnull replied to Our_Moon's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I support this idea... ....... BTW, here is one you might like having... "I decline to state that info." :P Also, they need to improve the list of possible responses on a number of things. There are times I'd like to use a Quick Response to say "No" about something, and Jagex has made it so I can't. As things stand, it is either that you must be quiet, or you have to be helpful to the other person and/or answer a question they've posed with info you don't want to give out. I'm sorry, but you just don't slap players in the face like that. :shame: ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
Clothing suggestions - Many pictures!

Alright, here's my ratings on the parts of your idea. Anything "5/10" or better, I support. I don't support anything "4/10" or weaker... :geek: Chemises: 7/10 (Nice thought for shirt patterns. ;) ...) Sleeveless top: 3/10 (Are you crazy? Only a Macho Punk would want this! :notalk: ...) Metal boots: 6/10 (Something doesn't sit right about this, but I can't figure what... :-k ...) T-shirt with straps: 0/10 (Doesn't fit the game setting, sorry. :( ...) Coats: 10/10 (The thought of walking around like Neo pleases me. ...) Red-trimmed blk: 9/10 (And what about the Saradominists, Guthixians, and other groups? Or have I missed something? :-s ...) Good luck to the success of the parts of your idea that I do support. 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
I'll support this... But only because of words that I feel shouldn't be censored, due to how they're more likely to reference innocent things, as opposed to the ugly & shameful things that people try to link them with. :geek: ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

What would it link to? RuneHead? A list of other members in the same clan? The clan's website?Whatever we choose. If people are worried about getting linked to a malicious site, we can always make it so that they just put in the topic ID for their recruitment topic. Well said... Anywho, I'll be waiting very patiently for the return of those custom fields for "RS Name" and "RS Clan"... They're worth having, but only after other major problems are fixed. =; ~D. V. Devnull

Its always been like that ? :?: TBH, only sort of... It used to be with PhpBB2, that to carry over the topic name, you had to either type it in yourself, copy it in, or tap the quote button on a post that had it already. It would seem this is a change under PhpBB3, and TBH, just how I like it. So if the Tip.It Forum Admins are going to do anything about this, they should leave a toggle option that the community of users can use to control these behaviors. :!: And BTW, once we have something like SubSilver2 or another skin running that we can choose from, these titles are going to be far less obnoxious in font size. In fact, Georgelemmons, you may cease to notice it, and get rather accustomed to it. So can you give us a break and let this one be, please??? : ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

I'm reasonably certain the fault is with your ISP. Some ISP's try to prevent their users from using a lot of bandwidth. Heck, I've been experiencing this recently because it seems my ISP (Verizon) is bent on making everyone upgrade to FIOS... (Even those with PCs that just can't handle FIOS.) They'll try to break my connection once every hour, and the only way I can counter this is to be playing something like RuneScape, chatting on a chat site, and/or streaming music or something like that. They've even killed my dad's mail downloads several times, much to my upset. :| So, call your ISP, get in their face, and make them quit breaking your link. [/thread...almost...] ~D. V. Devnull

Yes, it does, no worries. :) 12,842 ~D. V. Devnull -
What does that have to do with it? I guess you didn't notice their mention of "DirectDraw"??? Or the fact that updating their graphics driver failed to cure this problem they are having? :geek: ~D. V. Devnull

In my opinion, either you have not configured your Network properly on your Desktop, or you've got a NIC in your computer that requires power/signal from outside to activate. To which, I ask this... Do the lights on your Desktop's NIC turn on when you plug the ethernet cable in? :-s ~D. V. Devnull

Could someone explain something to me?
D. V. Devnull replied to z0diark's topic in Tech and Computers
z0diark, just out of curiosity, who is your ISP? :-s ~D. V. Devnull -
Have you tried reinstalling your DirectX version?? That might help. :) ~D. V. Devnull

Kinggabe, I'm gonna describe this quick and fast... From the Admin Account on your computer, you will need to do the following... [*:1m28jia4]Create 2 directories in "C:\Windows\" ... (Note: Don't type the quotes, just the names within.) [*:1m28jia4]".file_store_32" [*:1m28jia4]".jagex_cache_32" [*:1m28jia4]Then create the directory "rscache" on the base level of "C:\" ... (Note: Again, no quotes, just the names within.) [*:1m28jia4]Finally, set the permissions of all 3 directories so that anything that runs on your PC will have full access to the directories and files that will be created. ... And once you're done with all of that, clear your "Temp. Internet Files" and "Java Applet Cache", and try the RuneScape Game Applet again. Let us know if this works. 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

[Suggestion] Topic Preview
D. V. Devnull replied to Barihawk's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
Guess what, you have my support on this idea. A feature like that would be nifty, and like you, I'm patient enough to wait a long time for it. ~D. V. Devnull -
Well, group colors are something that's changed via the ACP, not specified in the style itself. The color that is set on there for Gmods is #2df82d (pale-green), and the color for admins seems to look nice at #ffcc66 (pale-orange). Anyway, the style is at: http://p27.us/tipit_theme/tip_theme.zip Looks much better as a Pale Orange. Good Choice!!! (Case closed.) ~D. V. Devnull

Adam007, I'm NOT threatening to leave over not getting any rating. I'm very surprised you misinterpreted my post in that manner. The only way I would ever completely leave here is if it hit a point where I could tell some group of users was out to force me off the forums, or something happened that could never be healed. :shame: Now, for a history lesson, a long time ago, there was a forum I was pointed at. After signing up, one of my posts I put up (or more, I forget exactly how many, but I do remember there was a particular one) was edited by people who abuse their power and get away with it. (This included the site's admins and such.) Further, they literally handed out power to people who were also just as jerk-like and rude as they were. Anywho, they intentionally pushed it to the point where I could tell all they were out to do was to just simply be rude to me, and that's when I left. I haven't been back since, and the site in question is now dead, and has been replaced by something that might try to hijack your PC, so I won't be putting the URL here. :| Now, imagine on those same lines, a group of 5-15 people who all decide to go after one person. (That's really all the size they'd need.) Even if all they can do is to give 5 '+'s to anyone else other than that person, as identified by your example above, those will eventually add up to such a point as to make someone, other than a person (that they're targeting) with a correct and proper answer, look like an "Absolute SuperGeek"... Your idea just opens the floodgates. If this gets implemented, watch and wait, for this will happen, just as I fear. :boohoo: I really wish I could make the thoughts in my mind easier for you to understand, but unluckily I have hit the limits of my mental capacity. :wall: ... (Exiting the thread at this point, too. There's a point where I become too frustrated to discuss a subject further.) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Meh, it's not much of a fix.. Not exactly sure if it should go in both links, but it's not hurting anything It would hurt if you do not have it... Because then whatever doesn't accept the "" would go to the "", and that's where the anarchy would begin. :( Anywho, I'll stand by and wait for Kill_Life and/or another Forum Techie to handle that. Heck, I'd fix it if I could. 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Even better: http://p27.us/phpBB3/ EDIT: D_V_ Devnull's suggestions below have been incorporated. Nice job. ... Now if only I'd known about what the brighter red was going to do, as when I suggested that part here. It is still hard to read. ~D. V. Devnull

Answer is at http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=75301 ... To disable "Related Videos", you add "&rel=0" to the video URL... :geek: And here is a test case... (Please open in a new tab/window to view, for I am not responsible if you temporarily lose where you are on the forums.) And that will fix all of our worries. 8-) ~D. V. Devnull

Yeah I liked that as well. Unfortunately that is not a question I can answer, nor a problem I can solve. So we will have to wait for one of our techies to check it out.. but as that is a cosmetic issue, it will not be at the top of their list of priorities. So hang tight. Another cosmetic thing I will just post so I don't forget is Closable Quote Tags. Anyways that is for when we are fine tuning things. ;) Huh? "Closeable Quote Tags"??? What the [bleep] are you talking about??? ~D. V. Devnull
-
Consider this post a test of those new tags... KicJSFEgB_U " " by "WhtButterflyLiz" Enjoy the accidents & mishap! This one is sure to get some laughs! (LOL! ...) And I just discovered... WE'RE NOT AT "[/thread]"!!! You need to turn off the "Related" videos call-up, because I just found out that one of the videos (or more) related to my choice is potentially semi-'NSFW', depending on how you look at it ... Not good. :? ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
