  1. sbrideau, my apologies for making you think I wanted the whole history lesson. I was just asking a simple "yes-or-no" type of question. :( BTW, I have had my own upsets with seeing Norton fail, so I know how you feel. NOD32 has caught 200 viruses at the time of the initial install, viruses which Norton missed before. Since that, it has been catching new viruses, left and right, even ones it didn't have definitions for, and even some new ones that it didn't have a match of characteristics with other viruses on. (That last part, I haven't mentioned before, but it's true.) So I think you'll like NOD32, although you'll have to configure a number of options to set it at its' most secure. :) ... (Some [bleep] set it up for speed in its' default options, but even at most secure, it is still blazingly fast.) ~D. V. Devnull
  2. Ghz refers to your processor/CPU. You can check by right clicking My Computer, going to Properties and you should see at the bottem the GHz. RAM, only way to "fix" it is to buy more. However right now 448 > 256....so you are above the minimum requirement for RAM. Okay, I see two people aren't reading the Belarc report correctly. In short, whatever you're adding to get that 448 isn't the right thing to add. Look in the log at the "Slot A0" and "Slot A1" items. There is exactly 256 MB in that system. All the other numbers are the miniscule cache on the CPU area, or the hard drive space. Now, unless Jagex's system requirements listing includes everything else in the system being loaded and running at the same time as the RuneScape game applet, there IS NOT enough to run the new RuneScape rendering engine. :ugeek: Seriously, re-read the bloody [bleep] log!!!!!!!!!!! :shame: ~Mr. Delta Varuna Devnull (Mr. "Actually-reads-the-logs")
  3. Alright, let's start with this quote from the RuneScape.com News... Now, I'm going to highlight these specs they've listed in two colors, orange (which means you don't meet the requirements) and green (which means you do meet the requirements) ... just so you can see what condition you're in right now. BTW, their minimums are more than likely a reference of what the Applet will need on its' own, not the whole PC with the Applet running. :? ... So expect yourself to need a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, and possibly a 128 MB 3D Graphics Card. At least your CPU is fine already. : I hope my info helps. 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  4. Just a 'Surge Protector'? Get an UPS (uninterruptible power supply) ... for the love of whoever your deity is!!! And heck, here's an 1100 VA from Belkin that will satisfy your needs!!! http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=171958 I'll look forward to hearing a lack of dying stuff. 8-) BTW, 1200W??? Are you joking? I don't know of any PSU that is that powerful!!! ~Mr. Devnull
  5. Dracion1, I hate to say it, but it looks like Norton took control of your TCP/IP stack. Only way you're going to fix this problem is to fully uninstall Norton (and rip out all their blasted registry crap that they didn't remove on their own) ... Then drop in a combo of ZoneAlarm (or Comodo) and NOD32 (or AVG or Avast!) to keep your PC safe. BTW, keep Norton active for long enough that you can get the Installers for ZA/Comodo/NOD32/AVG/Avast!, then you can ditch Norton after. Having at least some Firewall/AV protection is better than none at all while trying to make the switch. :geek: ... Oh, and make sure you totally unplug your internet connection from your computer (preferable physically) while you're switching. (Yes, that means you'll have to print out the norton removal instructions beforehand, but you'll be glad that you did!) ;) sbrideau2000, are you SURE you saw Symantec trying to give a virus to anyone leaving their software behind? ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  6. Not sure, TBH... I'm on FF 1.5 (Don't flame me, I know it is old.) and having no trouble at all. :-k ~D. V. Devnull
  7. 12,783 Trying to multitask is hard............... -.- ~Mr. Devnull
  8. 12,785 Well, this thread may freeze up momentarily for a little while... I'm heading into RuneScape, at a friend's request. :| ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  9. re4p3r1, as a side note, you need to have your cookie exception for the "forum.tip.it" domain set to "Allow"... Relying on the "Tip.It" base domain's "Allow" only gives Session-level privileges to subdomains, such as that of the forums. :-s If it is already set that way, then definitely check what Dracion1 mentioned, and also make sure someone else hasn't stuck something on there that's controlling what you're up to. :-k ~D. V. Devnull
  10. 12,789 Yeah, looks like we get to keep it going, and pray that the rest will arrive and give us a boost. :-s ~Mr. Devnull
  11. 12,791 I know you are, and I'm glad you are. ~D. V. Devnull
  12. A catch-up from page 1... That was talked about but decided against as resizing the logo to an appropriate size to fit just made it unreadable. It would not really be unreadable. Look at the "Tip.It Favorites Icon", viewed via the main Tip.It Website Page ... Notice, it is readable, especially when viewed at original size! :P Somebody stick the favicon in the corner of those stat images. I've just cut this guy down, and Tip.It deserves to have their proper credit on their signature images! :ugeek: ~Mr. D. V. Devnull (Also known as "Mr. Cut-you-down-for-wrongfully-debunking-an-idea" ...)
  13. Someone needs to move the "Post Status Flag" and "Post Date/Time" on the "Tip.It Theme" back to the upper left, to the left of "Post Subject"... Other than it just looking awful to have it in the lower right, it also resulted in the resume of a dead argument in another thread, one that I wished had stayed dead. (BTW, I've already reported those posts, so they should be handled by a Moderator shortly.) ~D. V. Devnull
  14. 12,793 Nah, this thread will "haul [bleep]" if we get enough active users helping out. Otherwise, then you'd be right and it would take some time. :-w ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  15. Even further, it helps to preview before posting. :P (BTW, I still support this idea, even with the recent update to it.) ~D. V. Devnull
  16. NEW BUG... Post Status Flag & Post Date/Time are below posts. How the forums were before, under PhpBB2, it was in the upper left-hand corner, before the Post Subject... And it was also originally this way when this skin (Tip.It Theme) was put in. It should NEVER have been changed. :shame: This [bleep] of a change has now resulted in the resume of a dead argument within the "Post Pictures of Your Browser" thread, on page 7, located at ... http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=269556&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=120 ... as someone FAILED to check the Post Date/Time. Further, it has gone off on an awful tangent that it didn't last time. :x ... [EDIT: I've reported those posts, so they may be gone before you can travel the link to them.] ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  17. It would give those others who are returning an idea of the community's opinion on how an update fared around release time and a while after, which can be extremely helpful in deciding how to play next. :geek: ... That is quite much why I support this update. Resuming after a break without any idea what's happened can be frustrating. So, now that you have a better understanding of the issue, would you like to help support this too? :-s ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  18. You're caught... This is a countdown, NOT a countup. :shame: <*DVD turns into a giant fox, picks up henman888 with his foxtail, wiggles them around like a baby rattle, giggles viciously, and then he tosses them into the nearby pile of feathers.*> They're gonna be sneezing for hours. Now... where were we? Oh, yes... 12,795 ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  19. Unless that's sarcasm, you should be thanking Bac_Talan ... They're the one that came up with the solution. Clare misread it. :geek: ~D. V. Devnull
  20. 12,811 Rainy, if you watch the series known as "Red Vs. Blue", you'll get the joke. ~D. V. Devnull
  21. That was purposely removed for a while and it should now be back. Noticed. Cool. :) ... I know exactly how I'm going to implement my usage of it. (No, not ignoring valid users, but those rule-breaking "advertisement post spammers" will die, and I will develop a list of whoever I catch.) Only way I'd ignore a normal user is if they were causing extreme trouble, but nothing bannable. Not quite sure what you mean? Maybe a screenshot? If only you went offline... nevermind, though. I've basically figured out what was going on, and simply let the issue go. ;) That was disabled to prevent people from sending out mass PMs to gold selling sites, advertisements, etc. Okay, I can understand not allowing that kind of evil activity. However, would allowing a max of 3 users at one time really allow that to flourish? What about those player-made events with several hosts? Wouldn't they like to be able to privately contact each other before the event without causing a possible public nuisance? What about if a user disagrees with a Moderator and/or Admin about how a report was handled, and needs that 3rd opinion, because unlike most users they might just actually have a point? :| (Meh... maybe I'm just overthinking it. ...) 'Tis on our list! Cool. 8-) Where is this? It used to be at the tops of threads and forums, just below their rather nice 'large text titles'... Now some crazy person has totally removed it. -.- ... (Edit: Wait... now it is back, go to the top of the page and look quickly.) I'm not quite sure if we can change that without making it look bad on the lighter skins. If it is controlled by which skin you're using, then you should be able to... :-k Is it better now? Yes, it is much better now, although the info that was there was lost in the process. Had to retype mine, and I'm not sure why it was lost in the first place. If I had to take a guess, you encountered a bug or something in the forum software. :? ~D. V. Devnull
  22. The "browse" feature is not enabled yet. However, there is another way to do it. You'll notice that there is an option to link to an "Off-site avatar." To do this, go to an image hosting site such as ImageShack and upload your avatar to their website. Copy the "Direct link to image" URL at the bottom, and paste it into the "Link off-site" field in the User Control Panel. Also, another Image Host you can user, flodder, is PhotoBucket (http://www.photobucket.com) ... I'm currently using them, and I'm quite happy with their overall services. Never a missed image. (I would have posted this faster, but I fell asleep in my seat. ...) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  23. I'll leave it to the Moderators/Admins to mark fixed items on my previous post... anywho... NEW BUG: "RS Name" and "Clan Name" fields are not physically displayed at a width that is proper for them in a user's control panel. Could an Admin fix this, please? :-s ~D. V. Devnull
  24. I wish you hadn't. I get ideas sometimes while reading topics, and just want to jump directly to the "Compose New Topic" page, so I won't lose my thought before I can type it. :( ~D. V. Devnull
