  1. Oh, one that I forgot to mention earlier; "Why does the government insist on renewing the Trident missile system when the USSR no longer exists (It was originally designed for the cold war) & when the money could be better spent - on the NHS lets say..."
  2. You can't blame people for not being aware of incidents, if you need to blame anyone blame the news agencies for not putting enough emphasis on incidents that happen abroad. The problem isn't people being apathetic on a huge scale, it's just that they're not aware.
  3. If you want to be technical you have the right to bear arms as part of a well armed militia. Anyway, have you ever heard of anyone killing 30 people in one go with a knife? I doubt it. The point that people are making is that firearms make it so amazingly simple to murder people in a fit of rage where as killing people via another method is far more difficult. You can defend yourself (when your unarmed) from a knife to some extent but thats not possible to do when faced with a gun. Comparing knives to guns is a silly comparison.
  4. It was at the one I went to, it was at the one my brother went to, and it is at the one my girlfriend's father teaches at. I thought they wern't allowed to do that in state schools anymore, I know there they're allowed to teach about religion but not to state it as fact ie. it would have to be "Christians believe that..." or "Muslims believe that..." I know the law is different for religious schools but I thought it was illegal to do that in state schools. Maybe it's different in Scotland compared to the rest of Britain.
  5. I'd ask her about the war in Iraq and I'd specifically ask about the lack of planning that went into the post-invasion rebuilding program. On the Iraq issue I'd also ask about how she believes Britain can bring both the Shia's, Sunni's & kurds of Iraq together to create a lasting, peacefull & democratic Iraq. I'd ask why she is supporting an ID card system that would not have stopped 7/7 & would be ineffective in preventing homegrown terrorism. I'd also stress the cost. What can Britain do to prevent future hostage taking in Iran since military action from Britain is not possible? On top of that I'd like to know her opinion of why they were allowed to sell their stories. What are her views on the EU constitution? I'd ask her views on the growing nationalist feeling in Scotland (and to some extent Wales) & why in a democratic nation does the Labour party oppose a referendum on Scottish Independance (although to be fair thats slightly innapropriate since she's not Scottish constituency MP) And lastly who is her prefered successor to Tony Blair & why? --------------------------- Agreed. You, sir, deserve a gold clap. *golf claps* The bible isn't taught as fact in British state schools, infact Britain is going in the opposite direction to America & instilling secularity into the education system to a much greater extent. I'm all for it, religion is a personal thing & it should be up to individuals to explore their belief systems as they wish. In fact I'd go as far France has and legally ban religion from state education. Sorry for the off topic debate.
  6. I read a hip-hop website & they're practically waiting on some "political analyst" to blame in on rap music, which will happen if the guy has but one hip hop record in his collection. I find it pathetic how people try to exploit tragedies such as this to further their causes that are unrelated to the issue. I agree that there should be some debate over firearms legislation as it's obviously a related subject, but I deplore people who make rash judgements without basis (like those at prisonplanet & the man who blames video games). At times like these you would think people would conduct themselves with a bit of class & dignity and allow the families of victims to grieve rather than make wild, baseless theories as to why this has happened.
  7. Thats because in the countryside people tend to live in much smaller tightly knit communities than people in cities do. You know - the sort of places where everyone knows everyone... It's far easier to commit a crime against a generic stranger in a big city than it is towards somebody you know well (which is often the case in small rural communities. This is why crime rates are higher in urban areas than they are in rural areas. Plus poverty (another key contributing factor in crime rates) is far more prevailant in densely populated urban areas than it is in the countryside. In a strictly urban vs. rural argument regarding crime, the ownership of guns bears little significance.
  8. edit - somebody beat me to it #-o
  9. But by your rationale criminals would just ignore the regulations so there would be no point.
  10. No a farmer went to prison for a few years for shooting an intruder in the back by creating some sort of booby-trap which killed the boy. He was convicted of manslaughter I believe, as it was deemed as excessive force. After a few years he was released & I think his conviction was overturned. In the UK you have the right to defend yourself & your property as long as the force you use reasonable force. However, the problem is that legally speaking the term "reasonable force" isn't implicitly defined so there is a grey area within the law.
  11. I win. Lmao I had to think about what the first question meant for a second there since I haven'tplayed RS since it went 3D. I still remember it how it is in that screenshot.
  12. cracked me up :D Lol adam armour wasn't around then remember. I remember when it first came on sale in stores & very few people could afford it - it was 40K if I remember correctly. That proves that even RS is suseptible to inflation. It was an even bigger deal when Andrew first wore rune armour. Lmao it's been so long since I've played RS (I came out of my long retirement for a few weeks in '03) prices must be so out of control.
  13. 1. How would your group acted diffrently? Out of my group of friends I'm the one who has a low tolerance to gobby little tubes. I always seem to be the one who reacts first & pre-empts confrontation of other groups. Depending on the siuation & on who the other group are, my friends would either stop me making things worse or they'd let the situation develop & wade in to stop me getting jumped. Just to point out - I don't cause the issue I just refuse to back down. 2. What would you have done? As soon as your friends necklace was broken I would have reacted physically, I'm grown man in a teenage boys body so I might get a kicking, but you can't let idiots like that intimidate you and get away with it. 3. What would you have done afterwards? I would have just moved on, afterwards it would be an issue. I'm not one to dwell on things. You can't let people push you around, violence isn't the right answer in an ideal world but thats all these people understand. They get enjoyment out of intimidating people, personally I refuse to give them that enjoyment although I admit that it's often to my detrement.
  14. That would be great, but I can't see Man U losing for some reason.. Yeah it's eay to say that after they've just won 7-1 lol. Personally I think their problem is that they've peaked too early. Eventhough Milan haven't impressed much yet (especially against Celtic) they'll give Man Utd a tough time, it's hard to go to the San Siro and get a result.
  15. 1) No I have no computer & I'm not currently using one. 2) No because there is nosuch word 3) Not wearing shoes at the moment 4)As I answered question 3 I realised how ridiculous this is & then I came to the conlusion that I should stop wasting my time. In short if you ask stupid questions you'll get stupid answers, then you'll most likely get a lock.
  16. I reckon Liverpool could win the tournament. They put out last years winners, put out PSV easily & have the mental advantage of putting out Chelsea last time the met in the Champions League. Plus they're out of the running in the Premiership so they can afford to rest players which is a luxury Man Utd & Chelsea don't have. Then again you can't rule out AC Milan, Man Utd or Chelsea. I'd love to see a re-match with AC Milan & Liverpool in the final - it would be such a grudge match.
  17. I don't know. I asked about this earlier in this topic, I never got an answer. I guess no one read it :P As far as I remember, DK3 were completely holding the database for ransom & asking for stupid money - in the thousands if I remember correctly. Anyway it'll never happen & thats probably a good thing. It'll save a lotof people (myself included) alotof embarrassment. :D

Ah, but will people be talking about Meet The Fockers 35 years after it came out? I doubt it
  19. How did it piss on the book? It's been alotof years since I read Charlie and The Chocolate Factory & watched the film so my recolection is hazy to say the least. I haven't watched the second film.
  20. What the fuc* are you talking about? 300 is the best epic war movie I've ever seen. And this, what you called "unrealisticly ripped" is a real masterpiece. It should not be realistic it should remind people on comic book also thats the reason why they've muted some colours to follow comic book style. If you wanna see realistic movie go watch some real movies like "Troy". 300 is animated movie and it was harder to make these characters in 3D world then record scenes in real life :wall: . The problem with 300 is that it's all style and no substance. Visually it's impressive but apart from that there is very little that would make it a great war film. It has the flimsy of plots (it may be roughly based on history but the majority of this isn't explored), basically it's a single battle scene of 1Hr 40Mins and only 20Mins of setting the scene, creating some sort of feasable plot (okay the numbers aren't entirely accurate but thats how it felt). Also while it's 'comic book style', it shouldn't matter - even films shot in a 'comic book style' have to have certain key components like plot. Sin City for example was shot in a similar style but was done well. Also using this style an actors job is excactly the same as it would be if it had been shot in any other way so I don't understand how it's "harder to make these characters in 3D world." To me 300 follows the same trend as alot of other recent films, it's relies far too much on fancy computerised graphics and leaves key aspects such as plot & direction as an afterthough. The problem is that audiences (myself included) are drawn to these films regardless of quality as they make good looking trailers & therefore are a great money spinner for studios.
  21. Actually the British controlled areas are going relatively well compared to the situation in the US controlled areas. Basra still has its problems but compared to Baghdad it's going well. In my opinion the problem for Britain is in Afghanistan. The Afghan government still 6 years later has no control of big bits of the country, the President Hamis Karzai is known as 'The Mayor of Kabul' because most of the governments power lies in Kabul & the surrounding area.
  22. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that I'm Scottish. Although my Granmother moved here as a child from Ireland.
  23. Yeah, I also realize that I'm not [developmentally delayed]. I'm going to keep it in the glove department of my car anyway. The point wasn't directly related to you (although my post is right under yours) I was just making a general point about guns since the debate went in that direction.
  24. You all do realise that people who keep guns in the home are statistically far more likely to shoot a family member by mistake rather than shoot an intruder. My only other comment is to the thread starter. Firstly I'm going to be quite presumpteous and I apologise if I get any of it wrong. I presume your a young sort of guy, propably an older teenager (15/16) & you want a knife for self-defence. Now comes the advice - Anybody who gives you the need for you to defend yourself from will more than likely be alot sharper in these sorts of matters, the fact that you're carrying a knife will most likely only escalate the incident & probably not in your favour either.
  25. I get that too, it happens alot if I stand up too quickly after sitting for a long while. I usually get blurred vision, a little unsteady on my feet & the feeling you get when you bash your 'funny bone' except it's all over. However, I'm never sick or anything else & the feeling passes in seconds.
