LOL, there's no smoke without fire... Again, sources. Don't beat around the bush, just show me where you heard all of this. I cant provide sources (but hey its not my argument) but I do remember watching a program about the campaigning that goes into the Oscars. Studio's and distributers pay millions on their oscar campaigns (things like advertising, billboarding etc.) In the past studio's were allowed to give the Academy members(those who vote on who gets the prizes) gifts in the run up to the ceremony. Infact Sharon Stone bought expensive gifts the academy for the Golden Globes in 1995, I cant remember if she won though.(I know its not the Oscars but the point is similar.

my parents did not hit me when i misbehafed and as far as i know i got respect for the people who deserfe it so? That might be your experience but its not the same for everybody. You can't judge things purely on personal experience or on isolated cases - different people deal with things differently.

Its not that the parents dont want them its that they want them to behave and to teach them right from wrong.

You consider yelling at a child abuse? Maybe by law it is and in an ideal world nobody would do it but sometimes children refuse to what they're told to which makes raising your vioce justified. Smacking a child on the backside for misbehaving is also a justifiable method of diciplining children. By smacking I mean a light smack on the backside not a full scale beating. The problem is that too many people over-react when seeing a child get a light smack for misbehaving and regard it wrongly as abuse. Abuse is terrible and shouldnt happen to any child but smacking is justifiable. This mamby pampy attitude to the way people raise children is part of the reason why people feel that youngsters nowadays lack respect and dicipline.
  7. By that thinking Americans should be speaking Navajo (or any other Native American language)....
  8. You begin to wonder why so many countries resent Americans & then somebody reminds us why.....
  9. The situation is different for Denmark & UK though. For example Basra(under UK control) is relatively peaceful compared to Baghdad(under US control) which is in turmoil. So this planned withdrawl is only reflecting the situation in the area being controlled by the nations in question. Anyway a UK withdrawl from Iraq will only mean that they will raise their numbers in Afghanistan and in nations where NATO peacekeeping missions are in progress.
  10. Im really not surprised by thisto be honest. People think because they have money and a home that they're above people who don't, its quite pathetic really. Also was it just me or did anybody else think of that "Bum Fights" thing when they read this topic? ------------ Oh god, now they've done it. They've played the video game card again. Yeah Video games seem to have surpassed music and even violent films as the favourite cop-out for young violent criminals.
  11. I think you better take a trip to the doctor, paralysis is very serious. It could be any number of things from a mild stroke, bells palsy anything - get it checked out properly and as quickly as you can.
  12. Is there a rule about using vague thread titles on this forum? If there isn't there should be......
  13. Ironically, posted by somebody with an impressive grasp of spelling and grammar in English.....
  14. Is itjust me or has Top Gear really pushed the boat out for this series. I mean Top Gear has always been great but this series has already had some brilliant moments & we're what...3 episodes in? This series is definately looking to be the best ever series of Top Gear.

  18. In my opinion it has to be the Pyramids, how people with such basic technology and tools can create a structure like that which is nearly geometrically perfect is mind-boggling. The Taj Mahal is also up there in my opinion.
  19. You should look up George A Romero's films (particularly his early stuff) if you're into zombie films.
  20. The problem with Orlando Bloom is that he lacks character/personality as a person, so he has nothing to convey on screen. He just strikes me as being dull. I really don't like Ben Affleck either, I can't put my finger on why though. I hated him in Daredevil with a passion.
  21. Mitchell - Gift from God I was right all along..... Edit - My first name means handsome as well, I love this site :D .
  22. I love that quote, especially since Switzerland didn't even invent the cukoo clock which makes Switzerland seem worse :D .
  23. Half of the problem is that alot of people over-simplify the problems into Iraq. It's not just an us(coalition forces) versus 'the terrorists' situation, by making it that you're completely deep rooted religious & sectarian divisions in Iraq as well as the the fact that the Iraqi security services are being corrupted by insurgents and are completely undertrained. On top of that, Coalition forces are also incapable of finding a way to negotiate an end to the violence as there was no plan of how to rebuild Iraq when the invasion was being planned. At the moment it seems that the Bush administration is willing to just sit tight until after the Presidential election and let somebody else figure out how to sort this mess.

I think it's just filler in a way, in a store when your looking at the back of a CD it's better for a potential customer to see more tracks - it gives the illusion of value for money. Of course you don't know how many of them are skits/intro's/outro's untill you get home & listen which is too late obviously.
  25. The world does have problems, it always has and always will. The reason why everyone thinks that "nowadays" are so bad is because when people look back they tend to do it nostalgically - forgetting the hardshipsof the past in favour of the happier times.
