What are your opinions on no-lifing?
NOTE: My post is controversial. My opinion is not representative of the Tip.It Staff. You're just rearranging words in an attempt to somehow justify the flaw Reb has pointed out, instead of actually countering. I'll take this to mean you actually think he's right, you just don't want to say it. It matters that when I ring up a call centre expecting a straight-forward conversation, but because they spend their whole time watching TV/playing computer games, they possess the communication skills of a garden snail. Communication skills are essential in order to get on in the world, and if you can't see that, that's your problem. When you go for a job, and they ask you for past experience, are you honestly going to sit there and say: "Well, my best achievement in life was getting 99 Fishing on an online computer game. I spent hundreds of hours doing it"? You'd be (rightly) laughed out of the door. I understand there are some personalities (typically introverted) which ask for 'alone time', and many of these people achieve this by playing computer games. However, this doesn't mean socially isolating yourself from everyone else is suddenly 'healthy', nor does it mean it's none of our business when you go and enter jobs later on in life. There is a difference between no-lifing and escapism. The latter is a perfectly natural human desire. The former is frankly nothing short of an addiction, and is most certainly unnatural and unhealthy.

If the US is weak, looks like the UK has brain damage. Indeed. That wasn't my judgement by the way, it was Michael Johnson's.

Russia+S Ossetia+Abkhasia in a war against Georgia
Although I did find the 'disproportionate' comment by Bush quite strange. I suppose the Iraq War was proportionate to the 9/11 attacks... I personally cannot see an end to this war unless Georgia concedes South Ossetia, or perhaps even Abkhasia. I wouldn't rule out Georgia becoming something akin to a vassal state of Russia either. I have sympathy for the refugees whose lives have been turned upside down - war isn't a nice affair - but I've frankly no sympathy for Georgia's government here. South Ossetia is a cocktail that hasn't been defused or properly addressed in 20 years. This situation could have been sorted on the collapse of the Soviet Union, but was never addressed. Added to that the incompetence of the Georgian PM who honestly thought the international community would lend military aid. I'm sorry, that's not Russia's responsibility - it's Georgia's. It's about as close you can get to asking for a war with Russia without saying as such in explicit words. And the thought of a country as puny as Georgia picking a war with Russia reeks of gross political and strategic incompetence. I'm hoping for a cease fire as well, and I'm hoping the French FM can persuade the Kremlin to accept the offer on the table, or at least reply to it with a counter-offer to get the ball rolling. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit here and go "Poor Georgia's being picked on by evil Russia".

Olympics 2008
I was thinking about Tehran hosting the 2016 Olympics, with Ahmadinejad opening the games. Would be way more cooler than the Queen in four years' time. -.- China have got a strong chance of getting more golds than the US this year. GO CHINA! (not that anyone in China can actually read this post...) The US team this year is weak apparently. The Aussies have got high ambitions, we're hoping for 4th. We've even sent a 14-year-old to secure a medal for us. Not anymore, China got destroyed by the U.S. in basketball with a double digit deficit. One event of how many in the Olympics? I'd like to see you beat China at China's game - Taekwondo, Shooting, Diving, Badminton, Weightlifting...

Personality/Type Indicator
There's nothing wrong in taking these tests, so long as you remember four things: 1) This isn't an official psychiatric report, even if you payed for it. Just because you get the Counsellor type doesn't mean you should open your own service, or run off to the nearest doctor claiming you're suffering from bipolar disorder (as some 'descriptions' I've seen have implied a connection). 2) Don't box yourself based on this result. For example, I'm an introvert on this test, but whenever someone says a racist comment around me, I become the most extroverted character imaginable. This test displays your basic preferences, not the limits of who you are as a person. 3) You will not likely be able to relate 100% to any character type in this test. You'll almost definitely lie somewhere between the middle of two types. I'm INFP, but I also show some traits of INFJ. Looking at my results on this test, I was only slightly perceiving. I'm also quite judgemental at times. I lie in the middle of those two traits. 4) Some are totally bogus. This one is, as I said, OK. Not great, but not a disaster either. The questions are closed, and it makes a limited attempt at clarification through repeating answers. The ones on MySpace and Facebook are totally laughable, especially the Enneageam tests. I've seen the most backstabbing, precarious people going label themselves as Sixes on that test.

Attention all Offtopic Users...Project Offtopic is Underway
I find it strangely ironic how those who used the "Ever caught them?" thread claim it drew in adult discussion into one place, when near enough all the adults on this board have called it for the hell-hole it was. What people fail to understand is that there aren't two levels of maturity - child and adult - but there are three levels. A fourteen year old isn't going to be interested in adult discussion OR universal discussion. There's a middle ground called puberty. This is the archetypal person who would be interested in topics like the "Ever caught them?" thread. Talking about boobs isn't adult discussion. It's adolescent discussion. There's a massive difference in maturity between the two.

Today...
After over-sleeping and getting up too late to go to town, went onto TIF and did the personality thing. I watched United win a mind-numbingly boring game against Pompie in the Charity Shield (not that any money's actually raised for charity these days). Cooked a Carbonara for everyone. Then I played Settlers IV after about four years of not playing it. (It hasn't got any more interesting -.- ). Contemplated going on RS, then thought better of it, and played AC:WW instead. Now I just watched Family Guy and Star Trek Voyager - epic TV. Just waiting for exam results to come out Thursday... :ohnoes:

If a player is using a character that hasn't got a projectile of his own, or at least a way of deflecting projectiles, I see no reason why I should stop using projectiles in order to make the battle fairer. Same goes with Pika's n-ground. Anyone who says spamming is unfair is, frankly, talentless at this game anyway.

Russia+S Ossetia+Abkhasia in a war against Georgia
Indeed. Even I realise China's record is ten-fold whatever the US's is, however, this doesn't mean the US is innocent by comparison.

Personality/Type Indicator
You're presuming Tip.It is representative of the general population. It could just be "Masterminds" are more attracted to an internet community than other personality 'types'. ;)

I was referring to the 'first 150' part. My point is still made though.

Personality/Type Indicator
This seems an OK Myres-Briggs test. It only repeats questions a couple of times so inconsistent answers aren't really filtered out at all. The Myres-Briggs personality test is hardly a recognised psychological test either - it's a very primitive test in the context of the sheer complexity of psychology. It's like testing bodily fluids for the Four Humours in order to diagnose a physical illness. Still, it's a good test if you want to explore the basics of who you are. I almost guarantee there will be no one else the same as me. When we did this test in our RE lesson at college there were only a few others in my entire year of ~500 who got my results. INFP Introverted - 56% (moderately expressed introvert) Intuitive - 50% (moderately expressed intuitive personality) Feeling - 38% (moderately expressed feeling personality) Perceiving - 11% (slightly expressed perceiving personality) [hide=Type description] [/hide] I can settle with being a George Orwell, but I always though myself as more of a Leon Trotsky. :-k

What enthusiast gaming websites do you use?
I use gamefaqs for guides, GameSpot UK for news, the official Nintendo website when I need it, and I'm also a member of the Animal Crossing Community website.

What is your favorite pokemon attack ?
Ahh... such wonderful ignorance. You haven't ever played online on the new ones have you? In fact, scrub that, did you even know you could go online in D/P? Go up against a Blissey, a Tyranitar, a Weavile and a Salamence online, and repeat that statement - I wish you the very best of luck (you'll need it) ;)

Are you a loyal democrat or republican
I'm glad we agree, as I don't recall saying New Labour were socialist. As for the Democrats... they're right wing. In a country as vehemently patriotic and capitalist as America, perhaps they're left wing; but I assure you, they are right wing in the context of the rest of the world. Gun control laws, as opposed to a total ban, is the sort of stuff the Tories would come up with over here, and they sure as hell ain't left.

While we're on the subject of human rights, shall we list all the US violations?

There is nothing of interest in this topic!
... except for how stupendously idiotic its OP is.

Russia+S Ossetia+Abkhasia in a war against Georgia
Let's look at this simply: [*:3c9mgagp]They're not attacking the Georgian capital [*:3c9mgagp]Given the size of their army, they could frankly annex Georgia in a few weeks if they wanted to. They've sent 150 tanks and a few jets? That strikes me as a country that's pulling their punches - threatening rather than actually doing, in order to bring as quickly as possible a solution to the table.

Olympics 2008
Only in the football. If you qualify, and your country's got an Olympic Committee, you can participate at any age I think. He's a diver though, so I don't get how they get away with filming him. It's not like I can go down to my local swimming pool and film all the kiddies jumping off the springboards... :?
