  1. Exactly. I would have smacked my kid for such a smart-[wagon] comment. Sarcasm tends to piss off a large portion of the population. I especially would not reccomend it on your parents, if they are not the cynical type. And they have the right to punish you. Especially if you are going to act that way around them, then come brag about how "righteous" you are to an internet forum. OK, so would you rather your child mouth off to his mates that you're a variety of coloured words and work himself up, or would you rather he post about it on an Internet forums in privacy asking people what they think of it, questioning his own judgement? At no point is he saying how "righteous" he is, he's asking for other people if they think he's right. Also, I don't believe you would just smack a child spontaneously for that comment. The fear factor in smacking a child comes in the threat of being smacked, not the act itself. Get 100 parents in a room, and 99 of them will tell you actually smacking a child has no effect, or if there is an effect, it's counter-productive because it makes the child more hostile, not more obedient. As for the matter in hand, you were slightly disrespectful, so you did deserve a cold shoulder from both your parents. At the end of the day you have to respect there is a heirachy. I can understand that you think just because you have an adult job, you must be treated as an adult by your parents, but as long as you're living under their roof, abide by their judgement. Having said that, I do personally think your Dad handled the situation wrong and both of your parents have completely blown this out of proportion. I know my Dad would be a tiny bit more understanding, and in fact probably wouldn't have got so annoyed at the sarcasm in the first place. He's always taught me and my siblings that if you can't take it, don't dish it, and he also understands he has to abide by that in order to set an example.
  2. I'm personally on/off with RS. TBH, I've achieved all the goals I have the patience for and nothing else really interests me now. Tip.It I've never really left since I started posting here. I could blame that on my duties to the Crew, but I'd be lying if I did, even though I enjoy working on the Bestiary. I actually stopped playing RS religiously about a month before I was offered a place on the Crew. The fact is I love coming back to the community, in particularly the Off-Topic board to discuss things with people my age that are equally as mature. Not many other sites I know of can say they have such a great community! Maybe that's as much a merit to the excellent Moderators and Admins as the people that actually come on here. IMHO, and maybe this does the Crew's reputation a diservice, but the community attracts me more to Tip.It than the actual main site's content does.
  3. I'm sorry, your proof? Allow myself to clarify. Merely questioning someone's argument isn't "bashing" it. Dismissing it without considering it is. The fact is Atheism and religion run counter to each other. It will always be a fairly frictional confrontation when the two parties debate their own beliefs with each other, since essentially, neither party has proof to disprove the other person's theory. I myself keep an open mind. I don't know any better than anyone else who's right. I'm not religious, but I don't refuse to accept a God may exist either. I've been an atheist, I'm technically a form of atheist now, and of course we've bashed religion. Some ignorantly bash it, some find the idea of blind faith risible and can't really get beyond that, and some just avoid it entirely. It's practically a given that plenty of atheists "bash" religion, especially those who reject it without fully understanding it. And that's just weak atheism. Don't get me started on strong atheism. I mean, I myself love learning about religion. I'm even taking a World Religions course right now at my high school. But even when educated about world religions, I still can't help but giggle a little bit at the dogmatic sides of each one. Faith, it's just... funny. That's the only way I can put it. Ginger, Shadow is right- give it time, let atheism get bigger, and a dogmatic atheist attitude will permeate throughout society, and it's not going to be pretty. No offense to atheism of course, not like I'm trying to insult myself here :P . Basically, the bigger a bandwagon gets, the more idiots it can fit on it. Happens to anything that gets big :-$ . OK, I hear ya. I'm not doubting there are people who dogmatically bash any form of faith, but TBH I find them hypocritical, in fact they must have faith that there is no faith, which obviously proves itself wrong. I don't support people who blindly believe there is no such thing as a God just as much as I don't support people who blindly believe there is such thing as a God. In general, I don't understand anyone who has "blind faith" (i.e. they'll believe something without questioning it), but I'd be lying if I said faith itself is stupid, since I think we all have faith in the form of hope and trust in life and other people. Also, don't use the pronoun "we". I've never bashed religion, indeed I understand religion can sometimes be the only thing people have at times, and they gain comfort from knowing that people share values similar to that person. I don't believe in God, but this doesn't force me into saying "God doesn't exist", or "religion is faith, and faith is stupid and blind". I would hope others, and I actually believe most so-called Aetheists, would share that same willingness to accept that one opinion can exist in two seperate people without causing confrontation between those two people. I've actually found the nicest people I've ever met to be religious.

  5. How on Earth can you force Atheism on someone? It's philosophically impossible! Being an Atheist doesn't make you a "religion basher"! I respect that everyone has the right to believe whatever they like, I just don't personally believe in something there is no conclusive proof for.
  6. LOL, you do of course realise that me and darkblade just add your name to new entries in the Bestiary anyway in the knowledge sooner or later you will help us? You really make our lives much easier, and this info will definitely be used! Just one question... what do you mean by "Range 2x2" etc.? I get the Range part, and that each boss has three bodyguards, one of each attribute in the combat triangle. But what do you mean by "2x2"?
  7. This is turning into a flame war... fast.
  8. Explain to me how this is hypocritical. I don't see StrOwez pressing his views on anyone. You came here at your own free will and opted to read and reply to it. At no point is that "pressing views". Nor is it provacative. He's not deliberetely targetting Christians, rather questioning the faith itself. And as assassin has pointed out, are you seriously saying that just because a group has millions of members, that that group becomes exempt from any kind of questioning or sceptism about their faith?
  9. You know as much as anyone else there's a difference between a person having their own personal problems with a group, and a group having a problem with one person.
  10. I disagree Kant. I think it's safe to say everyone (near enough) deplores the act of rape, for example. It's immoral, no question about it, unless you believe in some weird branch of genderist dominance. However, let's put this to an example. I'm a male. I know a woman who, God forbid this ever happens in RL, has fallen victim to an act of rape by her long-term partner. The woman has lost all Self-Esteem in herself, as she souldn't see this coming. She's no confidence, she can't even feel she can talk to the police or something like that, she's so disturbed by what's happened. Now, I personally have two options I could take: A) Become involved because of what I feel is a moral obligation, phone the police round, report the rape, arrange her for counselling which potentially could only add to the problem because she's not ready to come to terms with what's happened and has little confidence. OR B) Wait for her come to terms with what's happened, tell her that I'm here for her if she needs any help, but allow her to gather her own emotions and the confidence to get back on track with her life and get help herself. Now, if I felt that, because of my morals, I absolutely must report the rape, and choose option A, I could potentially do a lot more harm than if I chose the consequentialist point of view, B. B isn't an excuse not to act on my morals. It's merely me thinking that that particular action will have the best consequence out of both results. I haven't not acted, because to allow someone that space is to act in itself. It's an incredibly extreme example, but it's actually one we discussed at a Medicine Vocational Conference in my local NHS Teaching Hospital. I think you've misinterpreted what consequentialism actually is. It's not an excuse to be immoral, but it's a way of coming to an ethical decision, just as you being a moral abolutist is your personal way of coming to your own ethical decisions.
  11. I'm ginger (duh), 5"0' (i.e. tiny), I'm not overweight but not exactly "fit" neither, and I wear clothes no one else really wears, I'm 17 in college and I've never got drunk, or drank more than a pint of beer a night in my life, I don't go clubbing like everyone else my age, I play RS and Pok̮̩̉̉mon for crying out loud! Of course I get the Mikey taken out of me, but you just gotta keep telling yourself that you have the right to act, dress and look however you want, and you should be proud of it. TBH, I get along with feminine people much more than most other guys. Most of my friends are girls. My best mates have always been girls. I find that these people tend to be able to form strong loving bonds with other people more easily than your typical masculine guy can, simply because they have a deeper understanding of emotions and can read beyond what someone's saying in words, but their body language as well. It's an attribute many people have found in me personally and I'm proud of it. I'd rather have that skill and know I can help people get through rough emotional times than get drunk every Friday night just for some cheap thrills. In short, don't feel ashamed, and neither should you. There are many people who don't fit into the norm of society. This doesn't make them outcasts. It's hard, but you just gotta keep telling yourself that. And frankly, if people at a Church are giving you funny looks based on how you act/look, I seriously question what your Church teaches them, since obviously God teaches to "Love your neighbour...".
  12. But the wife isn't committing the act, the husband is. Of course, the loophole for THAT is if you are a Christian, the husband and wife become "one flesh" so the wife would be participating... but I don't think you want to be arguing for Christian ethics, do you now :P Not at all just in Christianity either. Any marriage in the UK, for example, of whatever faith, is in itself a legal contract between two people to share their lives together and remain faithful to one another. If one person in that couple then commits adultery without the other person's consent, then presumably, that would be in itself breaking the contract between those two people. How did we get onto adultery from homosexuality anyway? We seem to have got side-tracked from the point... :?
  13. Actually... there are several anti-adultery legislations. In the US Military for example, it's actually a court-martiable offense, although that's got a few loopholes in it. Also, as a consequentialist, I'm bound to tell you the law is farly disregardant in morals, and affects my personal judgement very little. If, for example, a couple wanted to have children, but the mother was infertile, it may be seen as perfectly acceptable for the male to commit adultery with another women, have a baby, and then adopt that baby to look after it, since the consequence outweighs the law. Now, personally, I don't agree that, but that's just an example of how consequentialists don't use law as a moral outline.
  14. Was this really a surprise? I'll admit, me and the others that post on Nintendo of Europe's official forums were slightly apprehensive about the new bold approach by Nintendo, but DS proved it works. PS3 was dead from the start. Hardly any noticable difference between it and the 360, and a good ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã200 more. 360, while lower in price than PS3, simply couldn't compete with the cheapness of the Wii. Its exclusive games didn't do as well as expected, consequently it died. Look at it like that, Wii was an inevitable winner. However, the recent price cut by Microsoft on the 360 may prove problematic yet for the Wii... this battle's not over yet.
  15. LOL absolutely. I would have thought that would come as standard. We still use information without quantities to confirm the drop actually exists in the first place, but yeah, apart from that it is kinda useless. Me and darkblade have all the monsters in this update listed, and entries put onto the database (albeit hidden to the public ATM). We're just looking for screenies and drops, which we'll start documenting tommorow. No need to worry about transparentising or cropping, I can do all that from my computer. :)
  16. Come clean after you've lied to their faces? No, I don't think that would work somehow. :-k I'm with Nadril. Just be honest. Give it a try, but tell them beforehand you're actually into the more photographic aspect. Honesty, persistance and effort - those are qualities they'll admire.
  17. This is good info guys. Keep it coming! Could you also try and note whether the drops are 100% or not? That would help me and darkblade a lot! bobbington, I wanna use them pics so much! They're awesome! But can you label them with names? Then I can get them uploaded. Also, as for that interesting piece of info, I'll get the mapper doing this dungeon to take a look at it. Thanks. :)
  18. I have to admit, I'd prefer the information to be posted here, but here's fine too. Thanks for this! The Crew will be sure to use this info. :)
  19. Stats on the Dragon Boots first posted here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=5131939#5131939 Picture (credit to Yiioaneo):
  20. db986 - usable information added Hi there! Hope you're enjoying the new dungeon! This thread has been set up as the place on Tip.It to post information about the new God Wars Dungeon. Do you know information about one of the new monsters there, such as a screenshot, or a log of drops? Do you have any information regarding the new items? If so, post them here. Thanks, ~Ginger Warrior Tip.It Crew From: Darkblade986 Just a note: When you post drops in here, try and specify specifically which level monster you are attacking. Monsters of different levels, regardless how little, can have different drops and we don't want to put the drops in the wrong place.
  21. Aside from the unnecessary attempt to censor bypass, can I ask if that's actually a real picture of you in that signature? If it is, I'd remove it, since it's actually against forum rules to post real pictures of yourself. Sorry for the double post... I hit edit... honest! :anxious:
  22. Why did this get bumped all of a sudden? I'll concede that in my opinion, the rules about sigs on Tip.It are a lot more stricter than they are on other sites, and that yes, Tip.It's limit is very low in comparison. However, I don't agree with you because having that extra file size doesn't add quality to the signatures in the slightest, and as demonstrated by Sworddude's example, probably lessens the quality. At 30KB, you're forced to use that space productively, not fill it with random bit-and-pieces. Our limit may be an exception in comparison to other forums, but it's certainly a "good thing" in my opinion.
  23. Patience, my young padawan. There is an update to the PC guide in the works. It just takes time because the minigame was near enough completely overhauled in that update. Thanks for telling us though. :)
  24. That's not wikipedia, it is just a random wiki made by somebody on a free host... the images are pretty neat though. Follow the link. I think you'll find that's Wikipedia. Well, now that MPM's given his final word, I see no further room for discussion. I'll lock this. Locked ~Ginger Warrior
  25. OK, anything that I write from here on in is me speaking as a maintainer of the Bestiary Crew, and not the Crew or website in general. I for one am instructed to use as lower quality images as is possible to a reasonable extent. In other words, so long as the purpose of the image has been met, I needn't worry about the quality of the image. Therefore, from a Bestiary point of view, I would have to decline using these images, even though they are quite remarkable pieces of work! You should be proud - information on Wikipedia doesn't get on there easily - I know too well! =D> The guides editors on the Crew (I think) abide by that same request. It's simply to make things fairer on users with low-speed internet, such as dial-up. We don't want them waiting 15 seconds for an image to download that frankly adds no more substance to the guide than a low quality image, or no image at all, would. Don't hold me to that though, I'll allow them to have their say on the matter. But, and this is the opinion of someone who works on the Bestiary, there is no way I could justify putting these images onto our monster database, as much as I'd like too. I hope you understand my reasoning. :) In fact, I'll actually alert the Crew Leader to this thread, and allow him to make a decision on this.
