Hiscores.
Maybe I'm missing the point, but why would it matter if the hiscores became filled with 99s? I can't see the problem... :?

Grading Religion
Well, I know for a fact that religious 'indoctrination' isn't allowed in any of our (UK) comprehensive schools, since they are state run and our state doesn't actually have a state religion (and before anyone fights me over that with technicalities, too all intent and purposes we haven't since Elizabeth I advocated Free Religion). Therefore, the style and the language is completely different. If we were being taught a Christian viewpoint, the language would be something like, "Christians believe that ... althought there are some branches of the Chritian fiath that believe ...", as opposed to making it sound like it is the viewpoint and no other viewpoint equates its dominance. Nor are we taught the History of religions, but rather their viewpoint on the modern day world. TBH, I find that much more relevant. It allows us to see through what the media says about a minority, and allows us to actually gain a perspective of a religion before we judge them. For example, when people talk about this Jihad nonsense, it allows the majority of this country to turn round and say, "Well, actually, there is nothing America's done to initiate Jihad, so in the eyes of most Muslims, there is no Jihad". It's just healthy for an overall better tolerance of other people's cultures, traditions and opinions. As for the matter in hand, I don't see why it can't be marked. I'm marked in History for my ability to recall information about the past and to use that information to justify an interpretation - why is it suddenly wrong not to mark a subject that requires learning another group's general beliefs, and using those beliefs to see how they could justify their viewpoint?

Grading Religion
I dunno if that's the system for religious studies in the US, but in the UK we're actually taught about two or three religion's stance on a certain topic. It's actually called Philosophy & Ethics, and it involved looking at something like Environmentalism or Vivisection and looking at how Christianity or Islam would view that topic, and how they would use their own literature to back that up. Our exams are mostly asking "What would a Christian think to scenario X". Only a small percentage of marks are awarded for being able to form our own opinion, and no marks are awarded for the opinion itself, but the ability to justify and support it. In other words, it's not religion that's graded, or our beliefs in religion, but rather our ability to recall and understand how certain religions view an ethical topic, and our own ability to formulate and justify our own opinion.

Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti dies
That actually helped him. His figure actually helped him be the singer he was. They say he had the perfect physique for an opera singer. I don't think opera music would be as recognised as it is today without his presence. The opera world has lost a legend by the sounds of things.

Still think randoms are totally random?
Like we need His Royal Majesty to tell us that! We've known that one for donkeys' years. Anyone who's tried powertraining for a 99 in anything will no certain randoms crop up for certain actions.

Did you know 1 molecule can make a big difference?
No. Even if you had that extra atom of Oxygen, you'd still need catalase to convert it from water to hydrogen peroxide, plus the conditions, such as pH, temperature and pressure, to be right for the chemical reaction to take place. So, no, we're not all one molecule away from being turned into bleach (which is actually one use of Hydrogen Peroxide). Above all else, we'd die long before we'd get turned into Hydrogen Peroxide anyway, considering it's toxic...

Before whoever made this mistake (I don't know) gets flamed too badly, I'll lock this ;) Thanks for alerting it to our attention maturely though. :) Locked ~Ginger Warrior

Lightning leaves the building
I think we need to step back a bit here. What happens in the past is in the past - those that dwell there will be swept away by the tides of time. You have to think about the future. Lightning has decided her future is away from Tip.It. Instead of thinking about any bad feelings you have, congratulate her for the hard, good work she's invested into this site and respect that she has a life ahead of here and wish her the best of luck. The Tip.It forums, as you all know, isn't a place to bring grudges. Keep that to the PM system. Thank-you Lightning for the hard work and effort you've put into this site. It certainly won't be forgotten anytime soon, and good luck with the rest of your life. :)

Is it really a problem? (MP3 piracy)
Interestingly enough, I had to get rid of LimeWire after all the stuff I'd downloaded (most music, some film) came up as viruses during my security check. :anxious: As for your comments about Independant bands, I disagree. If you actually go to MySpace or any decent music download site such as 7digital, you'd actually find from time to time they offer you a bootleg - a demo for that bands music. They also let you preview about a 30 second sample before buying the music. To actually buy the music for your own personal use costs me about 80p ($1.65 abouts). This is hardly damaging to Indie bands, when they had absolutely nothing except word of mouth and Indie magazines such as the NME. Considering bands can have a free (I think) account from MySpace to host their band, and then post a feed for their music onto that page for absolutely free, I think it's unfair to say this crackdown is doing Indie bands any real harm, and it's definitely more better now than it was 10 years ago for the Indie scene. The fact is when you use these "file-sharing" software you do two things: A) Most likely download a nice lovely virus. LimeWire Firewall didn't help me, nor did Avast! or the Windows firewalls working in conjuction with it. B) Steal from those bands. If it was you in their position, I can't imagine you'd be condoning this "file-sharing" from there. The only problem I have is that when you buy a single, it doesn't let you put them onto an MP3 player since it's protected. I can understand why they'd do that, but surely they can make a license that actually works on my player as well as my computer? But for 80p, I can avoid the above two problems, and have a high-quality audio that's actually come straight from the band? I say that's a bargain.

Split up blogscape...
BlogScape, as I'm sure Shey of all people will agree, makes for a nice community gather point. There are many people I know that have formed friendship, most of which have spilt out into RS itself, in the BlogScape board. To make sub-forums would be to split that community asunder, and thus would only do more harm to Tip.It Forums overall than it would do good. As Shey has also pointed out, the index set up by SaidinWoT makes the need to split BlogScape up obsolete. Also as jemathonical touches on, you'd almost create a kind of class system within Tip.It. We've seen what abuse occurs when that exists in RS in-game, I think the way everyone is banded together increases tolerance. As a certain Judge said, "Seperate is not equal". So in short, no.

Am I crazy?
Exactly. What you're saying Shadow (in slightly exaggerated terms) is that my Dad should have my instant respect because he had sex with my Mum. Why would I respect someone just for that? In fact, if anything, it's a cause of disrespect, although obviously not in that case. I have respect for my Dad because he's raised me and provided for me for the past 17 years as well as two other siblings, eight of which on his own after my Mum died when I was 9. Even then, however, this doesn't stop me questioning his decisions as a parent. I'd never mouth off at him, but I've every right to challenge him on how he tells me to live my life. That's part of growing up, and if you took that away from an dolescent you'd probably do that person more harm in the long run than you would solve in the short term. And occasionally we do trade the odd sarcastic comment with one another. He doesn't mind - after all I got that sense of humour from somehere. It'd be deeply hypocritical if he gave me a sarcastic comment and didn't accept I can give one back. So long as it's not disrespectful, I really see no problem with that.

hp update ? no way there is easyer solutio
OR, how about people learn to use proper defensive equipment, not neglect their defence level, and become educated in the ways of using "Protect from" prayers. Surely that's the answer? The whip and DDP++ combo's just as powerful as the Godsword when speed is taken into consideration. I get the feeling some people are using the Godsword is a vanguard to 'nerf' mel̮̩̉̉e overall.

Penpals - a lost hobby? :s
Inter-school penpals are good. Anything outside is usually a bad thing. Regrettably, it's a dangerous world for lil' innocent kiddies. Then again, if you're in your later teens and you know better, it can't be too much of a bad idea. Brings you in touch with other cultures, makes you a well-rounded person. Not that I'd do it myself... I'm just not the kind to initiate conversation with complete strangers. :P

This annoys me about my friend, I can't stand him sometimes
If I was selling something of that comparative worth, I'd take the extra $35 (well... ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã20ish :P) over appeasing a cheapskate anyday. No contest. He seems more annoyed at the fact he missed out on a noobish deal, which considering the 'noob' was you, is a horrid way to treat a mate. Let him cool down. Don't take action against him, but just tell him 'No'. If he doesn't like it and goes off, don't follow him. He doesn't seem to be doing anything to deserve you trying to be his mate when he goes off on a strop.

macro, argue about it or outsmart them
And where did you formulate that opinion from? The people who programme macro programs are probably the most knowledgable of players in the game. They'd have to, or their programs simply wouldn't work, would they. It's not very productive as a solution either. It doesn't address the fact they'll just make another account, and continue. How is that fair? If I'm unfairly banned (a possibility with this "Zero-tolerance" scheme), and I'm competing with other people in the hiscores, how is it fair that I'm not allowed to compete with the, yet they're allowed to break ahead? RS is a competition as much as anything, it's not fair you allow one person to do something, yet say to another he can't do that same thing. If I was a true human, I'd find that oppresive and vindictive as much as anything. The fact I like RS would be irrelevant. Jagex already have a system of Zero Tolerance. If someone is caught macroing, it's an instant ban with presumably no chance of appeal. Can't get much less lenient than that. The only way to remove cheating in games is to remove the psychology that cheating in games is acceptable in the first place. As I've said before, that's something the entire gaming industry, not just browser-based games like RS, but companies like Microsoft, Nintendo and SONY have to come up with a solution to collectively. Having something else to your work for you so you don't have to is a crime in the real world? So, what's a corporation then, if not a means of having thousands of people do your own work for you whilst leeching off their efforts with huge profits? Is having a corporation a crime? If so, most of Western World's economy is guilty. I do however agree with one completely unrelated point, in an otherwise flawed topic: This would even out the playing field. One of the things I find unfair about Rs is that some people can play this game for 12 hours a day, yet some people have to go to school/work/college or they have personal matters such as a family or something like that. I find that personally unfair, and this solution would go some way into making that more even. Apart from that, I disagree with this topic.

~Bring Back the Black Hole (NOW WITH PICTURES!!!)~
I disagree with this whole concept. Aside from the fact it is vindictive, and to some extent just hateful, as mentioned before, it would cost Jagex a lot of money that simply doesn't need to be spent. And what would be the point in keeping the Disk of Returning a rare still? IMO, if this idea was to be considered, its use should be reinacted and it should be sold again cheaply at stores. If players lose money, well, that's the world of investment for ya. Sometimes you lose money. That's not Jagex's fault.

Bestiary-bush snake-broken link
... that's strange. I have no idea what the Crewbie who put that in before me was trying to achieve with that. :| Edited. Unfortunetely, much as would like to credit you, our code states only actual information about monsters can be credited. Don't let that put you off in the future though, we appreciate it when people find lil' glitches like this! :) Locked ~Ginger Warrior

Where do you want to go?
Ooo Wales. I've been to Snowdonia and I agree with ya. I think we stayed at the foot of Snowdon and the view was just breathtakingly beautiful! I've always wanted to go New York. Just because I wanna know what it feels like to just be there and see how frantic it is, because nothing in London is anywhere near the scale of New York. Also, Melbourne. Saw it on the Commonwealth Games and it looked amazing. Doubt I ever will see it because of my fear of heights and the fact I'd die form heat exhaustion in like 30mins of getting off the plant lol! A lot of places really...

Welcome to Our Newest Moderators!
You do realise it takes a hell of a lot longer than 11 days for someone to be first considered for Tip.It staff to actually being publically announced, don't you? I won't obviously tell you how long, but I can certainly say in my case it was a lot longer, and I know people who's process took longer than mine! Congrats to both Devoted and Dork. I don't know Dork as well, but I know he's a great member of this community. Devoted I've seen on some boards and I know he'll make a good mod. Well deserved both of you! :D It is absolutely ridiculous to think Tripsis being made an Admin has anything to do with her boyfriend being made a moderator, especially when he's proved his effectiveness on the Tip.It Staff before. She's not exactly saying, "Welcome my lovely adorable boyfriend to the Mod team! Love ya hun!" in the title post is she?

uri emote changed
Yeah... send a report to Jagex. I did for a grammatical error by Postie Pete (at CW, the old it's and its one) and it got changed in no time. Should be, "Think underneath the lens of the Observatory" I believe.

Sig/Avvy size question
It means exactly what the rule says. You are allowed signatures up until and including 450 x 175 pixels total, so long as the signature overall isn't exceeding 30KB and there is no more than four images.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
That can't be explained because your definition of right and wrong is relative. I don't care about my beliefs, I want to hear your justification for thinking homosexuality is wrong (if you do). I believe homosexuality is wrong on the same basis I belief pre-marital sex is wrong. I believe sex is for a husband&wife only. I've heard many theories trying to to go against homosexuality - that one's a new one. What has marriage got to do with sex? Sex is simply our way of continuing our species through reprooduction. You don't need to be married to reproduce, so what has marriage got to with sex? Like warri0r, I'm awaiting an explantion to that viewpoint.

Wii finally makes it to #1 in worldwide sales
No it wouldn't. And I say that as someone who has been behind Nintendo for a good part of the last ten years. In fact, I actually found out about RS through a Nintendo forum. The reason being because if it had as powerful graphics as PS3 or XBox the price would go through the roof, and Ninty wouldn't be able to use the "cheap, family console" line Wii has so relied upon. The Wii would be squeezed out of the market in next to no time... in fact it would just be the N64 disaster for the third time running. And Shadow, the Wii is capable of great artwork and Twilight Princess, along with Brawl coming out later, proves that. TBH, I barely notice a significant enough difference in graphics between the Wii and the other two consoles for me to choose the other two conoles over the Wii. Yet the Wii has a lot more weapons in its arsenal the other two can't compete with. Nintendo anticipated the massive explosion in new technology, and also anticipated the way SONY and Microsoft would go in response to this new technology. With that, they could plan their actions accordingly, and under Satoru Iwata, Nintendo have leeched off the other two's success. If SONY don't get their act together soon, they'll end up from going 1st at the sixth-gen, to 3rd at the seventh.
