  1. They'll likely get around to it once bot-fever has run out. I imagine that these sort of things take a lot time to plan, develop and implement. I don't reckon we'll see this for at least a year minimum even if they started it today.
  2. That's a lot of text to say you're unhappy you've become complacent with Squeal updates.
  3. [spoiler=Quotage] its not illegal. The most Jagex can do to gold selling sites is force them to remove rs or runescape from their names. Seems like it should be, both because your selling something that doesn't belong to you (you don't own your account), and because your profiting off someone elses intellectual property. Then again, they probably could have sued these players into oblivion if that would hold up in court (pity, because I would really love to see that happen). It's a nice start, and I really do hope this means their systems are actually working. Jagex have been far short of honest about their anti cheating systems in the past, so they are really going to need to do something to prove it, and banning a few high profile people who anyone could have guessed were RWT'ers is not that something. I'll wait for the bots to start visibly dieing off, and the post telling us about the hundreds or thousands of accounts banned for RWT. The high scores is nice. Would have been nice if they had mentioned they planned on bringing them back when they first removed them, and the fact that they didn't tells me this is a revision to that plan that came about after the removal. Jagex has been raking up a lot of resentment from their player base, and in the great scheme of things, highscores aren't going to be what get people to pay for membership, at least not compared to their other inititives, so I guess they now feel that its a sacrifice worth getting some good feelings back from their players. Also, they couldn't do it earlier, because it would have been obvious they were backpedaling in the face of player outrage, or at leats would have looked that way, and that's something they shouldn't do. It's sort of a reverse psycology catch 22 for the players. If they complain too much over certain issues, then Jagex can't back down until significant time passes, or they will encourage the players to go up in arms over everything. Still, its nice to see these kinds of announcements. Its not what I ultimately will want to see, but you have to get through this stuff before you get to the meaningful actions. As long as it doesn't stop at propoganda, and does move on to meaningful action, I'll be happy, and this kind of propoganda is a potential step in the right direction, and that's something worth celebrating. I believe its a violation of the T&C's which you accept upon making the account. That's why they can sue.
  4. I remember fishing Lobsters on Karamaja, cooking them and after stocking up, selling inventory loads between the wild and Varrock for a massive profit.... Ahhh classic pkers...
  5. I think that says more about the communities of WoW and RS than the respective companies policies on returning items.
  6. Interesting stuff! I think you were quite unlucky that in 900 spins you only got 1 rare item and 1 rare lamp. It would be interesting to see a massive collation of 1000's of spins to get some truly accurate data though you would need so many trust worthy spinners to do so. I wouldn't think Jagex would release that data any time soon.
  7. For RuneScape anyway. Things like Team Fortress 2 have had Microtransactions for aggggges.
  8. There are a couple of things you've got to remember: 1. Jagex, like any company with investors, is pretty much ruled by the investors. If they want something or dont like something, they get their way. No doubt SoF is making a butt load of money and therefore isn't going anywhere. 2. Following on from 1. Not every Jagex employee will agree with the Squeal so its unfair to lump them together. They either have to roll with the punches and do their best to provide good updates and support where they can or leave the company. Not many will choose to leave without having another job lined up. 3. The investors want this advertised as 'the next rare' so people buy lots of spins. Lots of bought spins = lots of money for investors + lots in circulation > lots in circulation = not rare > not rare + not very good-looking = low desire > low desire = low worth > low worth and lots of them about = little to no impact on the economy. Its not a new rare, its a pretender. My 2 cents. Feel free to tear it apart and rage etc.
  9. I'd rather we get afk whining next so we don't have to trawl through pages of waaaa it got made easier waaaa I don't like it waaa this ruined the game for every single update just to read info people are posting. I think if you got rid of the [bleep]ing, not genuine rants but [bleep]ing, most RuneScape forum threads would be a couple of posts long.
  10. Brilliant for those people that were suffering
  11. 2 Quality updates and a fun festive one. Sounds like a pretty good month. Guess that means they will start on this next week as its pretty much a 5 week month, more time to explore the RuneSpan :)
  12. In my experience you get about as much gp in Rune Items as you do xp from lamps. If you get 500k xp in lamps then you would get around that in Rune Items. For every player that has a quest cape you would be introducing 500k per person all at once. I can see how it sounds logical to Jagex. On the other hand I'm extremely pissed off having spent so long completing all the quests only to be left out to dry. GF.
  13. Members seeing these is more likely to be a bug more than anything and should be reported as such. As for the style of ad, probably just a more aggressive marketing campaign.
  14. I remember the days when people use to enjoy Easter eggs :( This saddens me and I'm not talking about the joke.
  15. To attempt to recover accounts created before November 2010, you need the original name to start the process. Some players get paranoid that you will try recover their accounts if you know their name. I'm positive you need more than that to recover an account and anyone who says otherwise is a paranoid cynic.
  16. Glad you did this, the amount of people complaining of lag when it's FPS or vice versa pisses me off. I'm afraid it wont change much though.
  17. It is, just ballsed up the GIMP part

  19. Brilliant. Well done mate
  20. Knowledgeable Player

  21. Really enjoyed the quest, it wasn't difficult if you used common sense, the whole thing seemed pretty polished and the extended rewards are really good. 9.5/10
  22. Everything that's said on this thread about the Appeal System is just speculation. Jagex keep it top secret so Hijackers can also only speculate on the best way to get accounts. No doubt they have ways to decided how likely the appeal is to be from the owner of the account. Then there's the time in takes to investigate each account considering they probably get a few thousand appeals a day. I sent an appeal in to test how secure my account was and got a response in less than a minute. Tell me of another customer service department that has that response time? These guys are only human, they do the best they can with the tools and info they are given. I'm sorry you got hijacked man, it happens. The question is, what are you going to do now?
  23. A small percentage have probably shared/are sharing their accounts with other people.
