^ I looked that up today- Apparently the decade did finish when 2010 started [1]. I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't have the right mindset last year.

So it won't be 2011 here in Helsinki for a number of hours, but it's been 2011 in some parts of the world for a while now so I decided to post this anyway. 2010 for me has had its ups and downs, I'm happy to report more ups toward the end, but it was ultimately a good year for me. How about you? What do you hope for 2011? Don't know about the rest of the world (Well, not all of it anyway) but here we celebrate with fireworks. My dog is about to go crazy so I'll just leave it there and wish you a Happy New Year 2011! Hope it goes well for all of us.

Greetings, Australians and New Zealanders, from the BYGONE PAST OF 2010.

Speaking from a photographic point of view, I think that his ex would have to sign a release form (Not sure if this applies because he won't be selling the images/videos) otherwise she could sue him for that too. But like others mentioned it would break a dozen different laws anyway so any "Revenge" he got would totally backfire on him x10.

Have you got a wacom? If not, sketch on a pencil and paper. Sketching with a mouse just doesn't work. Watch this for the most usable anatomy lesson I've seen, it's in the first 2-3 minutes then it goes on to something else. Edit: This should just be a link, it's got nudity so it probably shouldn't be embedded.

Thought I was still reading the "What did you get for Christmas" thread for a moment, lol. I thought, "What a crappy gift". Sleeping late, listening to Debussy, digipainting. Christmas break rocks. In a bit I'm going to have a sauna, then play some flute & guitar. I'm a cultured person now lol.
  8. I can trade with you- I too got nothing.

#! On a different note, I just realised that the new XBOX 360 Kinect Sensor is indeed a racist. I was wearing a black shirt, and it was going hayware and didn't work at all. Soon as I took it off and it saw my whiteness it worked. I'm glad I have no black friends. Well, black wouldn't reflect infra-red light very well.

Sketched my hand today, actually quite pleased with the result. Also, this is an awesome comic. Hmm it's late.

Well my 12 year old one doesn't have one either so it's no big surprise. I use either a USB WLAN card (Your laptop might not have USB, I'm guessing?) or a PC card for LAN. I don't think they're expensive, although it could take some time to find one (I got the card with the laptop so I don't know).

Try opening a console and typing su <enter>, and when you've entered your password, (Assuming you're connected to the internet): tazpkg recharge tazpkg get-install gimp
  13. I don't like the concept but I like free crap.

I have a reasonable amount of experience here, I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed on a 12ish-year-old laptop. The thing is, this laptop that you're talking about is even worse, my laptop has 256mb of RAM, and I think that's about the limit for what Ubuntu will run reasonably on. So I would try DSL first maybe. There's also a way to install Ubuntu very cleanly without any bloat, but it's reasonably advanced and I wouldn't recommend it for a new user.

My guess is maybe, but probably not. This is a situation where I would think that software piracy is morally right.

^ I haven't had stability problems with VMWare Player (Back when I used it), but Virtualbox has a lot more features for free. I think that Apple intentionally broke Atom processor compatibility so that hackintosh netbooks wouldn't work.
  17. How about PHP with HipHop? Facebook uses that. And nowadays you almost have to talk about Python too if you want to talk about web programming languages.
  18. I find that this usually works. Make sure you've got the correct graphics drivers too.

Yeah, I don't know. I watched it on a livestream and it was whatever. Not exactly that amazing, but cool nonetheless. I think that it's the fact that it's one of the few easily observable celestial events (That doesn't happen every day or require any sort of special equipment). Plus it looks cool.

This. That actually strikes me as very effective composition and seems like a good high-key picture to me.
  21. Hmm, wish I got here a bit earlier. As someone who has invested his hard-earned money in a Wacom Bamboo Fun Medium (Pen & Touch), I actually found the "Multi touch" to be a ripoff. :-( I was under the mislead impression that it was real (5+ touch detection) multi touch, but it only detects two fingers. Oh well, the pen is excellent and that's why you get it of course. I don't find Medium to be too restrictive on a 20" screen, it captures a lot of movement data and you can always zoom in.
  22. Stupid US-only thing, I want one sooooooo much. Oh well, I applied anyway, they had a "Country" drop down. :-w

You know what is really annoying? I've seen it many times before but seriously it's 2010. Having unnecessary line breaks between every phrase is really annoying. It makes things hard to read and generally reeks of n00b. Yes I know you copied and pasted that from a chain email but that is just another reason not to post it.

Dream job I suppose would maybe be a 3D animator for feature films, either Pixar or a larger studio that uses Blender. Or maybe founding such a studio as one doesn't really exist yet. More realistic is a Blender programmer, I've contributed code to the codebase already in fact. :-)

If you want to hate that song forever, I suggest you go ahead. That's the reason I never change my alarm clock song, no matter how much I like it I always end up dreading it.
