(and all I can think about is how poorly drawn that cartoon is) If the above is the case here, I can't help but wonder why we're choosing something relatively extreme in its own right to champion free speech, though. Unless you're willing to dig deeper, it seems like the message it would send is one of intolerance: that you can (continue to) freely disrespect a major religious group (as most of western media has been doing for most of my lifetime), but call it satire and you will be protected.
  2. RuneScape isn't THAT sort of fantasy game.I dunno, the game does have maid costumes...

I'm just not sure how that's a good mentality to have in such an interconnected society: it basically comes down to "these are my beliefs about the world and I don't have to even consider that others might feel otherwise". Which might be fine (though still profoundly self-centered) if the world was utterly homogenous, but it just isn't, especially in Europe (as far as I'm aware).

Or, you know, as long as people feel that their right to not hear things they don't like trumps basic not killing people. It's pretty ridiculous to blame the cartoonists for this.I agree, it's just getting tiring to have to continue defending someone else's right to publish something that seems to exist solely to offend and provoke, and I'm not fond of how western society as a whole emphasizes the idea that if someone is offended by something, it's entirely their fault, even if the speaker went out of their way to offend, especially now that there's the implication that publishing such a thing is a patriotic duty. I'm just not sure whose rights are being protected here, and I doubt I'd have the same level of protection if I targeted a group we haven't been at war with for much of recent history. Kind of a vague, wishy-washy answer that distances itself from the issue, as usual. I'm not for censorship by any means, but it feels like this is just going to make things worse for everyone in the long run.

That's pretty apathetic.I guess we're getting to the point where it isn't too shocking anymore, then? It's never pleasant to hear that this sort of thing has happened, but it keeps happening, and most likely will continue to for as long as people feel that their right to free speech trumps basic decency :/

It's already warm here. Do I win yet?
  7. It was a lot harder when we had more controversial threads on here. Those were the fun times.Debate club was amazing, wonder if it's archived somewhere. Would be fun but slightly cringe to read. All of the debates were moved into general, I think? Except that was ages ago and they were just sort of scattered to the wind when they dumped the forum. No idea if the threads are still around, though the hardest part would be knowing what to look for. Love/hate relationship with that place, even if I was never warned in there. Perhaps that would have done some good.

Most of the time, they drop you if you don't show up? That's how it works here, at any rate

  10. Quite the opposite, really, considering the elf thieving nerf.
  11. I'm still not entirely sure why they removed the shop option, considering... you know, it's bought with points that you get by killing bosses. If anything, it makes more sense to scrap the random drop angle and just sell the pets exclusively through the Boss Slayer shop, if the goal is to show that you've killed a metric shitload of bosses.
  12. Eh? Warnings for that? I'm kind of glad I stayed away from that thread, then, I'd probably have done the same (if not taken it so much farther).
  13. After looking it up, though, it sounds like how Estonia is portrayed in Scandinavia and the World... Whose artist is Danish.

  15. Basically: it does come from hard clues, but it might as well not for all the good it would do you~
  16. Why not just build your throne out of money?
  17. It's more that the thread looks exactly like one of ours. I just found it amusing.
  18. I've been playing Warframe, a(n ostensibly) free action MMO with a lot of the trappings of the genre. The latest update included an event that ran from the 19th of December to just a few minutes ago, where you got points toward the rewards for playing through special missions. On the other hand, if the community as a whole didn't perform well enough for those missions, they lost whatever hub that mission was running on. I'm sure you can already see the problem here, but let me continue. The rewards were at 3 (cosmetic weapon skins), 10 (unique weapon mods), and 15 points (a straight upgrade to the default gun), and you were limited to two every day or so at most (barring Christmas, for obvious reasons). The rest... well, I'll let some cherrypicked comments from their forums say the rest. [spoiler=There are quite a few, so:] Probably not, you're out of luck, like everybody else that was actually enjoying the holidays afk (at least there has been zero communication to state the contrary). Yeah, for me it's the first time since Gradivus that I'm forced to miss out on the final reward (and the mod pack even, since there is only one fomorian up now, which will make me end at 9...). usually even if you only have limited time to play you can just grind through the event in one or a few days. This time, by artificially limiting how fast you can complete the event (and making sure that you can *never* catch up once you get behind) they are effectively telling people that cannot just play every single day to sod off. I am seriously dissapointed. ^This or at least extend the event by a week, pls DE we had holydays and were busy with familystuff :) With the amount of people complaining about it over the amount of people who like this event... I think your argument would win. Multiple reasons why this event went wrong were mainly around the timing of it and how much time was left after holidays... anyone who was off during then had no way of managing all 15. 20 were released which was more than 15, but most of it was during holidays sadly. And because not sourcing them is a pretty terrible thing to do: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/369665-update-1580/page-14 Really though, swap out some of the names and they look a lot like us.
  19. I heard that game was stellar IT IS Also, have you patched it, Squab? I haven't had much of a problem with freezes since the patch came out.
  20. invention 2025 Wherein bots are put in charge of building other bots, and everyone lived happily ever after.
  21. In their defense, straight level requirements exist in other games without too much issue. It's just another of those omnipresent RPG elements that only makes sense in the context of a videogame. Kind of like how breakable weapons tend to work perfectly until the last use, in spite of the fact that they may be visibly falling apart up until that point, though that and health get a pass because the alternative is just really awful to play (see: The Banner Saga). On a similar note, all of those apex predator-tier monsters that conveniently herd themselves into caves? Food should probably be an issue.
  22. Ooh, you're in for a treat. Put simply: Bethesda games tend to work better as platforms for mods than they do games in their own right.

I've got no clue whether this is the right place or not, but would there be any interest in Mafia here?
