Doubling Money.. and Other Weird phenomena..
so's dicing though, as well as lending money to a friend. [bleep] that. you should be allowed to trust trade, but doubling has no advantage whatsoever for the doubler so it's not even a trust trade it's just a dumb as fook trade. Yeah, I guess I should have explained that a bit more, my bad. People are perfectly within their rights to trade whatever they want to other people, but they can't go around encouraging people they don't know to do do strings of trades with them that is purely intended to hinge on trust, and run away with the money. You can lend to friends and gamble, assuming the host pays up in the event of a win. Also, can we just come out with it and call it 'gambling'? What is with this whole 'dicing' and 'flower game' crap?

The "perfect" Smithing update
Here's my idea; you can alter melee armour at the cost of metal bars, which augments the stats of the items, but the alterations eventually revert the armours to their original form. Similarly, you can alter ranged armour with crafting and hides, and enchant magic robes using runes. It would be really nice if there was some kind of special trade screen where you can pay someone to alter your armour if you don't have the levels but have the ingredients. For example, I've got Torag's Platebody. I use the Rune Berserker alteration on it at an anvil, which requires 2 rune bars and 95 smithing. It adds a strength bonus to it (let's say +4), reduces the defensive (especially against magic) stats, and becomes untradable. After 10 hours of combat, the platebody reverts to it's original, tradable form. Higher level alterations are more potent, but are also more likely to have downsides in other areas. Another example, I've got a Mystic Robe Bottom. I use the Mist Protector alteration on it at an Enchantment Site (like an anvil, but for Magic), which requires 10 mist runes and 35 magic. It improves magic and melee defence, and also lasts for 10 hours of combat. I don't think it's fair for Melee to be the only side to get an update yet again.

Doubling Money.. and Other Weird phenomena..
Doubling money is a trust trade, which is against the rules. I report it every time I see it, and so should everyone.

Changes to Lunar 'other' spells in single-way combat
Oh come now, there's a big [bleep]ing sign on it that says HEY YOU'RE GOING INTO THE WILDERNESS!!! I don't see any reason to remove it. It's a convenient way to get a PKing group to deep wild, and you have to be so, so, SO dumb to be lured by it. Although I will say that I don't agree that it's sufficient, and that there should be a lever that teleports there instead, I kinda don't want to get into an off-topic debate. Blah, I regret putting that there now.

[POLL] Is Dungeoneering a FAILURE?
How about some relevant comments on one or two things you said instead? Would you prefer that? You did post it in a forum, after all. It is a minigame, yet it is also a skill. They are not mutually exclusive concepts. Take BA for example; as you progress in the game, in a pretty repetitive environment, you gain points which you can use to quite literally 'level up'. That gives you more/better abilities, increasing your effectiveness at gaining further rewards which have applications outside of itself, such as the Granite Platebody which can be sold or commonly used as a piece of mid-range body armour. Couldn't you say that BA is a skill in miniature? One of the most unusual things about Dungeoneering is that it actually becomes more interesting as you level up the skill, unlike most skills which provide fresh and varied content at the start, but degenerate to a grind-fest at the end, often at a single 'strictly the best place to train in' location. You go through more floors, each with their own spectrum of monsters, puzzles and bosses, as you level up. It's a solid concept on paper, but it leaves the low levels (~60 and below) with pretty repetitive content and little in the way of player-to-player support as more experienced players only team up with more experienced players. The way that the skill is designed paves the way to two camps. The first is composed of people who tried the skill out, and never really 'got there'. They've soloed heaps of dungeons, grinded through the Frozen floors and Abandoned 1, and getting bored at around the Furnished/Abandoned 2 floors. The only experience with teams they've had is with people who don't know what they're doing mixed with buckets of disappointment and rejection. They dislike/hate Dungeoneering, because it's treated them poorly and unfairly. The other camp persevered and got through to around the Occult floors, if only for the determination to get more of the smaller rewards like the Arcane Stream, by now with about the same opinion of Dungeoneering as camp 1. Before you know it, they'll start landing with more reliable teams, maybe have a Shadow Silk Hood, and suddenly the excitement and variety that proper Dungoeneering brings is apparent. Meaningful choices have to be made, and the leadership and direction of the team becomes important. These people enjoy or fall in love with the skill. It's a Marmite of a skill, but there's more logic to it. The biggest criticism, about the real lack of important abilities your character gets in the outside world, is justified for now. But if your character is going to get better at exploring dungeons, perhaps displaying leadership of a group, that requires more complex dungeons in the game. That's pretty time-consuming stuff to develop, so it doesn't surprise me that it's a bit lacking in that department right now, but I hope that will change in time. Do you want to be in a forum or not? You're supposed to point out what point he missed and clarify, not make predictions on the obvious then act smug that you were right. "Oh look! I'm going to breath in a few seconds! ... ... ... Called it!"

Changes to Lunar 'other' spells in single-way combat
How can anyone complain about this?* The spells completely contradicted the ideas behind single-combat. I've never touched PvP, and even I knew this was going on for a long time. I don't think that it's a good idea to continue the trend of certain things being disabled in PvP and enabled elsewhere, it was bad enough with extremes. Lunars does need an update to its combat related spells if they are to be used more often. Now, Jagex, how about getting rid of 'Telegroup Ice Plateau'? Please? *Actually, I do know, it's people just wanting to go against Jagex because that's the popular thing right now.

That sounds like something I would like then. Hrm. I might buy both books later as hardbacks.

Is Betrayal at Falador actually good? I'm curious.

DevBlog 7th March - The Clan Camp
The best part is when he think's he's going to be heard by Jagex. Oh wait.. Thanks for the constructive comment. If we stopped being so negative and started proposing solutions instead of laughing at them, Jagex would be far more likely to listen. Frankly, it's an attitude like that that's driving Jagex away from working with us as a whole.

DevBlog 7th March - The Clan Camp
You know what Jagex? You're approaching this the completely wrong way. You know that you aren't the experts on how to improve clan support in the game, you might have the technical ability, time, and money, but you don't have any idea on how your ideas are going to be received. Clan/Community content shouldn't be something that affects markets unlike quests, dungeons and skill content, so don't keep it a secret. Tell us what ideas you have floating around in detail and we'll gladly give you feedback on each and every one. We'll tell you why it's good, or why it's bad, how to improve it, or if you should ditch the idea altogether. If you ask nicely, we won't even charge money for doing so, unlike some members of the company that probably do. If you really want to get a cohesive community going that covers a larger part of the game, become part of it. Tell us what you're doing and we'll help you! Argh!

08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop
I have a problem with you ignoring all use of punctuation, please use it in the future. The point is that there's no value here. Worthwhile content requires enough of an incentive for people to use the content, be that pure fun (a la Castlewars) or rewards for other parts of the game, and also a positive contribution to the game's experience in general. This has none of the former and very little of the latter.

Well, here it is. In all it's glory, I really can't wait to try this, I think Jagex has done a great jo...snarf, sorry, I couldn't say that with a straight face.

Two Chilling Graphs to Look at.
Oh for pete's sake. I've seen this plenty of times, I think the first time was about 4 years ago. The game still exists now, so what does that say?

None of those things needs to be fixed though. Year of the clan is good enough for me, thanks.

DevBlog 7th March - The Clan Camp
Hrm, I'm not sure if I like the idea or not. If there's one thing that really shows proper potential for meet-up areas for clans, it's Player Owned Houses, which would be infinitely cooler than a generic meet-up point. I suppose it's fair to the f2pers, though, and it does make sense to have a common point for clan recruitment if there's going to be a proper standard clan system. Alright, fine, go ahead. :) I'm excited for a graphical update for the trees though.

What do you call these images?
[hide= Norwich, UK] 1. Sweatshirt. 2. Roundabout. 3. Indicators. 4. Boot. 5. Crackers. 6. Mall. (Pronounced with 'Al' as in Formaldehyde). 7. Flat. 8. Tyre Guard. 9. Tarmac. 10. Lift. 11. Sweets. 12. Ice lollies. 13. Drinks can. Normally I call it by the brand, such as 'can of coke' or 'can of pepsi'. 14. Bin. 15. Porch. 16. Nappy. 17. Torch. 18. Goalkeeper. Sport; Football. 19. Prison. 20. Tracksuit, or 'clothes' in certain parts of the city.[/hide] This topic's only going to start me ranting about the American 'misuse' of the English language, so I'll just leave that there, cover my eyes and ears, shout 'LALALALALALA' very loudly and run away. LALALALALALALALALALALALALA...

I'm really concerned now.

Does it count as botting if I'm...
Nope. Remember the 'at least one click = one action' rule. You clicked on the dragon once. If it dies later on, you are free to benefit from that. You're doing the game a favour anyway.

Which void helm is most worthwhile?
To be honest, void isn't for slayer, don't use it for that. Separately, Range is clearly the most worthwhile helm, with applications from off-task training, to PvP, to Jad. It's simply amazing offence if the conditions allow you to use up those slots for void. Melee's great for off-task training, armoured zombies and the like, but getting up close means that you might have to deal with the vulnerabilities of the armour if what you're dealing with bites back. Mage is pretty much for hybriding only, as dedicated robes are better, but I've had a certain amount of success tribriding at barrows with black salamanders and ice blitz, switching to Range (salamander again) and Melee (deflector/whip/barrows gloves) where appropriate. Also, people, get a deflector. I know I've said this so many times it's becoming boring, but get a goddamn deflector. Seeing people using an unholy book with a rune crossbow on void range makes me cry.

Getting "Good Grades"
That's a fine quote that sums up my philosophy. I'd say it was unfortunate, but I couldn't care less about the state of the education system I've been through. I've learned what I needed to learn, I'm going to squeeze out as much benefit as I can for the least effort, and I'm not going to be the pushy parent my parents were. I notice a common pattern, parents that didn't have the wide range of opportunities their children have put it upon themselves to have their children succeed, nearly by any means possible. They never say it, but they internally treat that success as if it's directly linked to their own success, instead of the child's. The child, initially naive, goes along with what their parents say, until they become independent enough to realise that they have no interest in a lot of what they are doing. After that, they reject the continued advice of the parent instead of looking up to them, cruising at their own pace, for better or worse. I wonder what's going to be the story when the children have their own children.

Possibilty of RS voice chat?
There's a perfectly good reason why it's a good idea, you don't have to go through a complicated process of creating more than one account and using more than one program at a time, and it also establishes a common platform, so there's no incompatibility issues where one person says 'I only use skype' and another says 'I only use vent'. Most multiplayer online games have built-in voice chat, so what makes Runescape so different? Personally, I talk with friends on Skype daily while playing RS. It's a wonderful thing when you're Dungoneering with friends, I tell ya.

What I didn't bargain for...
Eh, I just take solace in the fact that quite a lot of my friends who quit have come back to the game. Yes, they're old geezers who don't understand these newfangled 'Korasi Swords', but it's satisfying to teach them. Also, if I see anyone say 'prod' or equivalent in a serious way, I file them under 'idiot' and ignore them.

Getting "Good Grades"
Ever since I've landed at university, the fact that my A-level results don't matter any more, after all that stress, has cemented the fact that I don't need to do more than what is necessary. I skip lectures where I know I won't learn anything, and just do the coursework and compulsory stuff to a level that I'm satisfied with. Since my results get wiped again at the end of this year, all I need is an average of 60% to keep on my course. It's far more enjoyable and just as good results wise. I just use the Internet if I don't understand anything. Most of my coursework has involved sitting at my desk, with the questions on one monitor, a video/webpage/Wolfram Alpha on the other explaining how to tackle the question, and paper draped on the mousemat. The fact of the matter is that if I keep on doing things that I am not required to do, I will only end up giving more than I receive. I don't know what world my parents have lived in, but they seem to think that it's necessary to excel in everything I do. It's a life that gives up the good times just to get a number that nobody, not even I, will care about.

How are you preparing for Bonus XP Weekend?
Made 3k planks myself, enough to get 71->75 Construction to make Dungeoneering Altars. After that, ZMI Runecrafting so I can progress towards getting 70 Runecrafting for a Celestial Surgebox bind. After I run out of essence, ape atoll agility course.
