New Option: Buy Banned Accounts
The logical course of action would be to demand more money than what was made by RWTing, or simply not give the buy back option for serious offences like this. This thread's got more slippery slopes than an Arctic glacier. To allow microtransactions would defeat the point of any progress in the game as inflation hits. There's no point in considering it further.

Canadians, we just got [bleep]ed
I presume so, although I've never tried to measure the amount of data RS generates per hour. It's probably not that big. Also, I really hope that you Canadians get that repealed. Why is it all the nice people who get bad internet deals? First the Australians, now the Canadians. Oh well, we're a miserable lot here, so at least our Internet will be fine.

New Option: Buy Banned Accounts
They said that any gains from botting would be reset. So they'd just be paying for nothing. IMO this is stupid. There's no way this will be a viable source of income considering the number of people who are perm banned for non-botting offences. To be even worth mentioning in the financial report it would have to cost hundreds of dollars/pounds/euros per account, even then they number of people willing to do so would be small. It just encourages people to keep acting like idiots. Jagex is getting money, and the occasional continuation of membership, for extremely little effort. That's a viable source of income in any book, no matter how large.

New Option: Buy Banned Accounts
Ahaha, that's actually a really smart move by Jagex. I'm all for Jagex extracting every last penny out of cheaters.

What are your goals for 2011?
Well, while this is here, I'll add that I want to land myself 99 Magic as my second achievement cape, now I've got my Quest Cape (finally!).

The Private Server Syndrome
It's no different than many speculative economies around the world. then make 200m overnight irl plz Quite a few banks and stockbrokers have done that. I don't have the funds or the knowhow. Similarly, I can't do that in RS either.

How would you live differently?
I'd love to rewrite my childhood (basically between 5 and 18), because it, as a certain Canadian friend would say, 'sucked ass'. It'd mostly involve having far more confidence. Also, if I could rewrite other things during that time, I'd make every reality and celebrity TV show, magazine and any other kind of media of a similar vein be total flops. If you want to be famous, fine, but you should deserve out of your own hard work, and people deserve to keep private affairs private when it is of no importance to the rest of the world. The world would thank me if they could remember it.

Daily/weekly activities - really daily/weekly?
MTK, Pengs and Tears weekly for me. Circus if I'm feeling like it or come across it on my travels. I don't have the attention span to do dailies, they don't give enough benefit to me for the effort.

Heh, gave away a whip for the hell of it. Good times.

01-Feb-2011 - Return of the Wilderness
Can anyone explain to me why any of these were necessary? Just because gravestones stop working in the wilderness doesn't mean that everywhere else needs to be incredibly safe.

Let's see how this goes. I'm excited now.

Is RS Dying?
RS has been going reasonably strongly all the time. We've seen the financial figures and the player numbers, and Runescape is not exhibiting signs of declining at all. Also, the abundance of skillcapes is only a sign that there are some very easy 99's to be had. You don't see many tough 99's like Slayer, Runecrafting, or Summoning, do you? Bladewing's right, the game isn't dying, it's the OP's interest in the game that's dying. Other people are perfectly happy here.

Slayer Challenges Improvement
Although they're very good, they're not Slayer Challenges. They're just normal tasks fighting monsters that can only be killed when on task, like Strykewyrms. A Slayer Challenge is, for example, if Rogue Familiars in the dungeon don't respawn while you are there, and you are tasked with clearing out the area. That way, you can't leave.

Tip.It Times - 30th January 2011
Huh, you learn something new every day. I never realised how mandatory basic economics was in US education. As Racheya said, its not required in the UK at all. I'm at university, and I've never even taken a class that could be called 'Economics'. Frankly, after seeing complicated things like junk trading, it gets a bit beyond me. EDIT: My God, I'm starting to sound like my dad...

Whip vs. Chaotic Rapier?
TIF has become a lot like the RSOF since the revelation of "Wildy coming back." Wish a lot of the people who quit after 12/10 stayed quit. At the very least, I would have thought they'd have grown up a little since then. Nope, once a derp always a derp. Judging from your generalisation, and the use of an irritating and inappropriate meme, they're not the only ones who need to grow up a little. I get very sick of this attitude sometimes.
-
Whip vs. Chaotic Rapier?
Seriously, why is this a discussion? A rapier is basically a stage higher than a whip, given that they have similar roles (general use non-spec one handed melee weapon). If you use a whip a lot, which is most people, then a rapier is the right weapon for you if you can get it.

Full worlds
I always thought they did that anyway, although that might be my mind playing tricks on me. Getting on a world, even crowded ones like w2, has never taken me longer than a minute.

A multi-way dungeon that is pvp?
The way I pictured it, the dungeon's going to be pretty huge, with single- and multi-combat areas. Like others, I never got why Jagex are keeping statuettes. They've got fixed GP values, so convert then discontinue them.

4th Binds
Hmm, I generally act as a support mage, so empowered fire staff.

Metric System'o Hits
I don't buy your argument that there's anything wrong with putting more increments on the hit system. It strikes me as a knee jerk reaction to change. When you're dealing with a system that needs to be read quickly and accurately, each visual element must not influence the others. In this case, the number is the magnitude, and the colour is the cause. When you make the colour change the magnitude as well, it will take longer to work out what each splat means. All that for a bit of nostalgia? No thanks.

Massively's exclusive interview
Coinshare needs to be removed. It was simply a horrible remedy to the lack of free trade and the unfairness of random drops. It's created millions of gps out of thin air and seriously imbalanced the game towards a few boring camping places. Of course Jagex soon realized their mistake and added lootshare potential which is a far better fix. But then they leave in coinshare... You have no idea what you're talking about. The essential problem with lootshare is that when it's used on bosses with rare but extremely valuable drops, one player will get the item and then quit the team since he/she will have incredibly low loot share potential relative to his/her teammates, which means that he/she will almost never get another valuable item with that team again. It breaks apart teams. Coinshare solves that problem by splitting apart the value of the drop. Yes, coinshare is based on the assumption that the GE prices are accurate, but if the price ceilings and floors go, and the GE tracks all trades, that assumption will soon be accurate. Remember, when someone buys the item at mid price at the GE, the difference between the mid and min price dissapears, so it's actually designed to lose money. Yes, money is initially created, but if the items are underpriced as everyone claims they are, more money is destroyed.
