Behind the Scenes - November Edition
Take a look in RSOF suggestions forum. The new poll will be on NPC graphics, and who we want updating.

lock please
It's difficult to know until it is here.... but I suspect we will have huge amounts of rants about how "merchanting is ruined" although i think it will just change how it is approached. A real merchant will have the ability to adapt to their new surroundings, I am sure it will be just as good if not better.... yet different.

Hey, who's that freak with the whip...?
I believe they wont publish a picture of somebody under the age of 18 due to legal reasons.... and for non legal reasons i think it's against their policy to publish images of players..... worth a shot if you want though though.

Why keep the old threads open?
Although it should very much be taken on a case by case set up I agree. Allot of these bumped threads become just spam and server no purpose, having said that though allot case still be useful and should defiantly not be closed just because they are old.

P2P secure?
it's perfectly safe, the server is encrypted not even Jagex have access to the info you send it, it's totally done via computers that can't be hacked. It's good to hear you where actually looking out for the secure server icon though, it's a shame how many people don't know to look for them. unfortunately that is totally out of Jagexs hands as an external company, it was probably more to do with the postal service that it was not completed though.

d wcing axe or melee..
It comes down to personal taste... personally I would go with the whip and then work towards the axe. The axe is a rubbish weapon, and the woodcutting difference between rune and dragon is not huge. They are a good thing to have in the long run but probably should not be at the top of a wish list unless your a serious woodcutter.

Lightning Clan Chat - Perhaps it's time to move on?
Nothing because it is unofficial? That's my point. From what i understand currently although lightning has left the building she is still updating and maintaining the chat channel, and have seen mods in the past to Pm mods or admin if changes need to be made as they are still in contact with her. I agree that it's possibly not fair to keep her attached like this, and a new channel should be implemented, although that does not change my position that it is incredibly unfair to make personal attacks in public. and for your other point..... If I was aiming to be a mod I would have applied when we had that option.... but I just don't have enough time at the moment so would not apply and would not try and be noticed that way.
-
Lightning Clan Chat - Perhaps it's time to move on?
Personal attacks are really not welcome.... if you have an issue with a chat mod please contact Tip.it directly through pming a mod or admin.... it's not fair to do it publicly.
-
Lightning Clan Chat - Perhaps it's time to move on?
I believe we are moving to "the tipiter" Although I think Jagex may object to that name for the same reasons they objected to "tipit chat"

rarest item in runescape?
Hack of alot of DDP's will be left over from before farming was released. Extra strong poison would be rarest..... From daggers though I would say Mith (P+) would be the rarest (the metals before that less rare as people make them thinking they are uncommon) But whats the rarest item? it probably is the Half wine as nobody knew in advance that they would be discontinued unlike holiday items.

MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
TTFN Runescape...Trading...Cards... :ohnoes: Although a Runescape version of Monopoly wouldn't be half bad :) Port Sarim: $300 Abyssal Whip: $150 Surely that class 28 past refers to what else is in the category chosen... Jagex is making a "game" and so are in class 28, MB make bored games so come into that class too.... is it not just a class description rather than company description.
-
MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
Personally I think the runescape graphics are done much better than the ones in that game.... it looks so rushed. The fact is Jagex have a different graphics STYLE the quality of their new work is extreamly good.
-
MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
I would say this game has about 4-5 years left before drop in intrest is noticeable.... but the game could probably be kept for 6-7 years by which time I expect JAgex to have 3 or 4 separate games aimed at separate audiences.

Signatures? (when will they be officially evaluated?)
I'm sorry but this smells terribly of advertising..... Although I am sure you would quite like a bigger KB size I can't help but think thats not the main point of this thread. as I see it the KB limit is fine, with a bit of creativeness anybody can make a signature that can look great in the right size. My signature for example did not have to be reduced in quality at all to be in the size. I remember you posting on RSOF at the time of the first 3rd party software rule change just to advertise your program and it seems to be in the same tone here.

~ The Thieving Guild ~
It was actually intentional not to go into too much detail there as it would be far to complex for a suggestion to go into the small details but just to sumarise where they would be (after Jagex to the detail work) Defiantly worth having, yet not overpowered devaluing the skill.

MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
It's a good point really.... I have seen you around the forums allot and have never noticed you every saying anything positive about the game or Jagex..... maybe it means it's really time to stop playing? it will happen to most people at one point in their life, you get bored. I think you have to make the decision of do you actually want to play anymore, most people don't see many of these issues you speak of.... it it possible you are making them up of exadurating them to your self to make reasons to leave?

MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
They will never drop RS until the players drop it, it's as simple as that. The game is a business and so long as it continues to gather huge numbers of players they will continue to support it. They have been talking of a new game, and developing one for years and they are doing it for a reason. Jagex is a one product company, they require more products so that they can stay stable and not suddenly go out of businesses if their is an accident. For that reason to drop RS would be a total swing round on the main reason the are making a new game...... stability.

Tip.it Times Presents: Reasons to hate Jagex!
The important fact to remember is: This game as 1 million paying members all with forum access; 1 MILLION! Out of this it is only a tiny faction who we see complain although the complainers always try to do their best at speaking louder than any other group. You can probably see the same in nearly every company, they are always going to be seen as stupid awful companies that can't do their job.... as there will always be a small community of people trying to make us think that. Having said that with 1million players it is impossible to please everybody..... it's just not going to happen and what is an update without rants?..... I don't think it's ever happened has it? Sure there was the odd bit of the shop update that I did not like, such as battle staffs but it is upto every player to take a step back and look at the wider view! if it is not the pure essence update (:P) the wider view is always better. In summary... we are idiots if we don't expect a noticeable level of rants about any change from Jagex. it is upto us to look why people complain and to create our own informed opinion about a situation and not just take who's ever we read first.

Does Jagex play their game?
You also have to remember every person who works for Jagex works for a computer games company..... the entire development team chose to take a degree in computer game design (or something similar) That means the chances are they all have a real passion for gaming. Even if they don't play RuneScape (although most do) they almost defiantly play other MMORPGs and so will gain huge experience for he view of the customer from there.

PayPal CEO joins Jagex Ltd
The companies are not joining, Geoff left PayPal and is now working for Jagex as a totally different job. As such it won't directly bring money with it.... although obviously the old boss of PayPal is quite good with money (we hope) and so money should be used allot wiser withing the company. The raised profile of the company through getting a high profile person however could bring some money and new customers/ advertisers.

Does Jagex play their game?
Obviously allot of Jmods don't play..... but a fairly large section of the team play on a regular basis. I can name several Jmods who's player account I know the names of who are in the top 100k.... one even in the top 30k players (and thats just the mods I know....) the satchel's where more of a test item than anything else.... they used it to test a new code system they had made which is now used on the dragon fire shield, so I would not hold too much against that (although they are useless) I know the bigwigs play although possibly not the new CEO as he does not strike me as a gamer....
