  1. Doubt it, they said that the trade things comes in today, and they wont update two days in a row.
  2. I would think that only the discontinued items and armour forums will be used, where large value items are passed around and people can't pay with just cash.... in these cases people will need to pay with items meaning the GE cant work. I see no point in world two and most of the marketplace forums.
  3. Copyright is different for each type of copyrighted thing. Written music (score) copyright is 70 years yes i believe, although there are other rules like Hard recordings of music are copyrighted (CD's, records) are copyrighted for only 50; or something like that. No doubt, game copyright is less long, because the game Shadowrun released in 1990's sometime was re-made in 2007 without any formal buying of copyright as far is know. So copyright on game names must be less long. HOwever game content copyright is probably much longer. Well some discussion has come of spam :) My bad :P I am a designer so only really know in depth about copy law from that aspect.... But from that example you said.... 17 years sounds awfully familiar for patients on products (think of Hoovers) so maybe as a game is a product it may be 17 years...... either way there is no issue here, they just need to update. [/hide] :) no problem; but something i thoughtg i'd add: Cliff Richard no longer gets royalties from some of his first songs because they were over 50 years ago  , and he's still alive. Anyone can plaguerise his work now. \ \ Back on topic: NO-ones going to steal the copyright for runescape, Jagex just gotta udpdate the site. But if someone did uby the copyright b4 jagex i would laugh :) especially when the theives got sued to hell. Hehe, and the beatles don't have copright on theirs either..... Michal Jackson Bought all the rights :P but thats getting kinda off topic now! (in other news.... hey your from Preston! *waves from Bolton*)

  5. Although that tzhaar stuff has always been there..... it's an interesting thought! Oh and as for that forum thing..... nothing to do with summoning.... it was just some bug abusers who had worked out how to get into a server that had temporary been taken off the list for some reason... really nothing interesting. It just seems that everybody seems to be clutching at every little thing meaning summoning lately.... :P
  6. Copyright is retained until 70 years after the death of it's creator, or untill sold for a cash value. Jagex own copyright for a few years yet...
  7. That was done as a reaction to, player complaints as suddenly the music was playing in both high and low detail, rather then before construction when it was just on high detail... it's good but I would prefer it to remember my request for silence :P ------ Mistake Qeltar.... In section one you say But then in a further article you say you got a dragon full helm.... I put this down to bad wording on the first section where it should have read: (or something?)
  8. Currently reading through it all :) Just finished the policies bit, and would like to stick my input in: I would disagree here, I would say that both the initial decision and the ending one where both good, I would rate them both at B. The issue was more (in my opinion) how Jagex handled and went about this which is still having major implications today... The 3rd party client change was the first time in any noticeable fashion disruptive players rioted, and the way Jagex announced the change in policy made it seem as if the change was made due to the riots. I fully blame Jagex for why people riot now.... that does not put me on the side of the rioters, but I can understand why they would think it would work... It seemed that to anybody who had no contact with Jagex, that rioting was the reason it was changed and not constructive feedback. Issued two: Strider, after just banning his program from use Jagex chose to name him on the front page, praising him for his hard work, and thanking him for his feedback.... this just led to a huge advertising of the client, and has probably meant far more people use it now then previously did. In my opinion all 3rd party software that is related to Runescape (as a game) should not be allowed, and Jagex should have introduced a new offial client to replace them before a full out ban. The fact is these bits of software have a huge risk of danger.... maybe allot of them are safe (probably), like SS but a heck of alot are just there to cause damage... I would grade this update set as: Initial Grade: B+ Final Grade: B+ Delivery and application: U (U is used in English marking and stands for unclassified... aka a total failure) ____________________ Just to correct you here.... Luring was never against the rules, and all Jagex did was to clear a Grey point as it was commonly through of (for very good reasons) as an item scam. As such, I don't think the wording of how your graded it is correct..... but the grades them selves are good :) The delivery of this announcement was probably the second worst (after 3rd party clients) bit of community relation that Jagex has ever done, and I don't think any member of the non pking community (and allot of pkers) agreed with it. The forum mods as well where VERY upset about it.... and from what was conveyed to me (although I doubt they would be allowed to say it) most of the Jagex forum curator team where very disappointed with it too... Hell I even seem to remember some of my fmod friends resigned their positions and left the game due to it.... I don't know why they thought putting the sticky up in the only forum that lurer's would would would be a good idea. On one angle Jagex did the correct thing in clearing up an aspect of the rules that previously was gray.... but in the more obvious angle, the rule was just totally wrong. I believe from how it was written that it was Andrew him self who stepped in and stopped luring (he has a very distinctive witting style)... and too right! I however don't really like you point about idiot forum mods.... we where just as annoyed as everybody else.... it's just we had to apply sensible community management onto it, it may have seemed harsh in allot of places, but it was needed (which would not ever be fully appreciated by those who where not in full possession on the facts surrounding it. I would rate this: Initial implementation Grade: U Final Grade: A I don't know whey you gave it a C to be honest i would have though you would have made finally out lawing this a good thing....
  9. Omg xD Thats hillarious. Pickled you narb, it's from the players gallery on the runescape site. I think you should really get back on thongy and stop playing on that narb account.. :XD: True.... my good friend Bannanananana did that...... best not to post somthing and claim it's yours =; Great pic though..... he apparently did it because he was bored.
  10. ..... Whats that got to do with it? ________ It's a good point you raise though, the limit will be very low! I would hope that they put a fix on the f2p figure so that it is not reduced every time a new p2p quest comes out. But to be honest with you I doubt we will see new f2p quests.
  11. Good work there. As to what Duke was saying Maples have dropped so very much due to the introduction of the system.... !0's of 1000's of people who had been collection maple logs for a long time in manage thy kingdom whom had never sold due to low cost, suddenly stuck them up as they meant such little effort to get rid of them.. As such millions of logs that previously would have never touched the market suddenly flooded on. crashing the price.... If they can ever repair the price or not is a different matter.... people may just become so used to the low price, that without JAgex intervention it would never raise. I look forward to the market watch page jagex say they are developing.
  12. With the huge amount of advertising WOW does, I doubt RS could ever outrank it.... as Jagex only used 3 other sites that link to it, and the rest of the advertising is only word of mouth....
  13. It's exactly the same anywhere else... the issue is not with the community itself, but with the size of it. As tip.it's community grows the community will suffer. I see people flaming the state of the official forums so much, but I personally spend a fair amount of time there, and promise you, that the tip.it community is near enough exactly the same! the only difference is that the official forums community is much much larger. ratio wise there are probably a similar amount of "idiots" here as anywhere else, but in a smaller community the more active mature users can make a huge postertive impact on the way in which people post, but sadly as the community grows their effect is lessened. It's just one of the things we have to put up with in a larger community.
  14. I seem to remeber your name in my supporters list :) it had been posted on the offical forums twice.
  15. You could have worked out it was at the end of Jan from the first diary where the graphe of timings pit the completion point a certain amount of the way through 2008.... I would say it will be the last week :) I am not saying why.... but hope it's a tuesday update
  16. Small bump so people can see the pretty old stuff :)
  17. So if we don't lock a thread.... it means you don't like us as we are not doing our job..... but if we find a rule breaking thread and lock it you don't like us because we are "robotic"? am I right that you just don't like anybody with any form of authority? You seem to be looking at every view point as a negative If we don't lock a thread it is for one of a few reasons. 1. We did not notice it 2. we don't have time to deal with it 3. there are more important threads to deal with first 4.we don't have enough knowledge to give the thread/post justifiable responses. I have talked to nearly every fmod, and trust that not one of us would ever leave a rule breaking thread as we agree with it.... if you think an fmod is abusing their position.... please send a message to jagex about it and the issue will be sorted.
  18. Wait..... who do you like?! I am sure most people will find them selves under one of your titles there... You seem to say you don't like anybody? And whats wrong with fmods.... speaking as one... surely as you seem to hate spammers, and rule breakers, the fact that we only lock rule breaking threads (usually spammers) surely would mean you like us? but yet we don't as you have an issue with anybody in authority, just because they have the moderator title? And as for your last comment.... If you don't want anybody to have an opinion other than support then why did you even post this thread? the whole point of forums is for discussion.... and it cant be one way. Sure alot of things on your list annoy me, but it seems like you hate everybody? who do you like?
  19. Including the people who spam hack, porn, and RWT site addresses all over the comments, and the people who post videos of rule breaking. Whilst most people know it.... it does not mean it's "safe" there are very important reasons why we don't allow it's name.
  20. w99 Fally Center Say "Old Bone Bow or no $5" get muted and leave the game :-X :| :?: If you don't get muted quick enough you have to start imparting constructive feedback to jagex and the community through saying thats like: "@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@" Just to make your point clear, you could repeat it! Please don't! I am not sure if it's been slowed.... I hope not.
  21. I got 5 black marks added onto my account, my appeal was denied, and now I am muted for 2 more days (I was originally muted for 9 days). A blind monkey could have done a better job at reading the appeals... :boohoo: If what you have posted is correct and not changed in any way (not accusing, but lets face it many people have done it before) then I personally don't think there are any grounds for punishment there..... is it possible that a 3rd party there questioned the other guys ability to trim armour, followed by you saying "sure, hand 'em over"?
  22. there are 7 log in servers that store the infomation about out account, every 20mins this data is backed up so incase of a server crash we will only lose upto 20mins of game play. it does not do the whole lot at once as it would be too much but alternates saving each player group every few mins. This is why when they preform maintainance on one of the servers they put up a message explaining that one in 7 players will lot be able to log in for a while. When we log out of our accounts it backs up all of our data that has been done with the last few mins of game play (after the last time your account was saved). although it's a petty quick proses the servers need a short period of time to save the data, and get it in a state ready to send back out to another game server, So when you log into a new world your server has to make a request to the login server for your account variables, if however you have just come from another world they allow a small amount of time to make sure that the infomation is correctly saved and ready for use.
  23. I think everybody has some desire for recognition, I think it's the feeling that when people put allot of work into their characters stats, money, etc.... or they spend allot of time posting to help the community in the forums.... the idea that nobody noticed would be a bit sad...
  24. Sorry for being off topic but while it's here..... I would actually disagree with the GE simplifying merchanting, it seems to be allot more complex now, with chance greater rewards for those who can predict future changes in the markets. For example with changes mentioned in the official forums about correcting some prices, maples logs would be a very sensible thing to stock up on now while they are cheap to sell on later. I think the new system requires much more skill and judgment rather than just buy low sell high.
  25. I like to be well known in my chosen community, and well known for respected reasons.... but the day sombody would run up to me and say "OMG it's Bobbington2!" I would think it's far too much. I don't wanna' be a nobody...... and who does? it's always nice to know the people around you know your name. Forums are probably one of the best ways to get famous as you say for saying nothing... it's a nice level of general overall raised knowledge of existence that gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling :) As for fame and power..... sure they are not the same but there is defiantly a positive correlation between the two
