Nowadays, I pretty much quit runescape altogether. I looked on these forums just now and I am disgusted by what I see. A sticky for "post your rants in the rants forum" and I noticed the rapidly degrading quality of posts every time I looked here. What drives us to post such low quality posts? Why must a bunch of morons post spam every now and then, only not to have them banned, especially if it's their first/second post? There's a clear example of this even right now, on the first page.

 

 

 

Why must Tip.it degrade so rapidly? I remember when, about a year ago, I joined here and there was A LOT more intelligent posters here on this forum.

 

 

 

What I am simply asking is "Why post something as simple as '+1' or something to that extent, when you could spend maybe half a minute posting a simple thought? It's such a shame that the forums have started falling downward to the point of the "RSOF". :|

I got nothing for you other to be mature enough to overlook the immature posts. Its the approach I always take when dealing with people via internet. Your'll be hard pressed to find many places without immature people.

Yep, tip.it has degraded over time. A lot of people don't know, or didn't notice, because they are fairly new here. And it isn't just the quality of the posts that are degrading, people are getting more and more unpleasant and offensive aswell. But tip.it is still a good forum nevertheless, but not as good as before.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some people attempt to write about how the mentality of runescape is declining (has declined) and as a result, the new users to tip.it are also declining in maturity....

Anyway, I joined Tip.It in 2007 and I'm sort of used to players typing like that. I have not been here long enough to say I have seen a decrease in the more mature posts. But I can say, many of the posters now-a-days have a good posting quality.

 

 

 

I do think that there are alot of posts that don't realy seem to be fit as a post of good quality. Perhaps many of the runescape fansites have been advertising places that were not a good choice.

It's a public forum on an increasingly popular community site. As such, it will attract players of all intellects including the 'moron' type and 'intelligent' type.

 

 

 

Particularly in the last month or so, all community forums have seen a [bleep]e in spammy, whiny type posts and tipit hasn't been immune. Still, the forum moderators here have been good about letting people saying what they want to say and locking/moving other threads as appropriate.

 

 

 

In 'quieter' times, the discussion on the forums generally seems to be as it was. I haven't been posting for long but I was a long time lurker for several years and find the threads on tipit to be as interesting and insightful as I've seen.

 

 

 

Much like Jagex's updates, you have to take the good with the bad and learn to adjust.

The words you are looking for, ultimania92, is growth, and change. Those two things make this sort of thing happen to all forums. The more you expand, the more out of control it gets. It's no big deal, honestly. You learn to deal with it in the long run; so long as you have some oldbies to back you up.

Yes, I agree with you that some is going downhill. I haven't been here very long (just over a year) but I've noticed a decline in mature posts and actual constructive discussion in about 75% of the threads I read.

 

i doubt we'll ever go as bad as RSOF, actually I know we won't. The mature members of tip.it are still here, so don't worry.

You missed the point. The entire community is going to the dogs. You can't just ignore that, and we can't keep ignoring this decline either.

My advice is just to be mature and ignore it. Be a poster who makes the Tip.it community a great place. There isn't a whole lot that can be done about immature players, sadly. Just avoid stooping down to their level. As for players becoming more offensive.. well.. some of the latest updates have annoyed a lot of players. I am not saying they should take out their aggression on the community.. just saying that some people aren't mature enough to vent frustrations in a constructive manner. The truth is, the more intelligent posters seem to gravitate to the less crowded places. I know the Debate Club attracts the most intelligent audience I've seen on TIF, and guess what? It's an obscure subforum that nobody ever looks at except the people who really look for it. Off-topic does have its share, and that's precisely because most of the users (surprise, surprise) are RS players, and therefore use the RS-related boards more. It's the ones that want to get away from the idiots that end up in the obscure areas.

Oh I cut down people with 99's too you know. Its the people who fight back with good arguments that are my favourite prey, they are harder to bring down. And you get more xp from them.

 

 

 

I usually jump on those with no respect earlier though, since they deserve it most. And ofcourse people will be corrected if they supply false knowledge.

 

 

 

I don't do it to look good though, if I would I would just get a few 99s and full third age and show it off in f2p lumbridge. I just do it to get my severely battered ego a bit of a boost. Hey, it works :lol: .

Yes, I noticed a decline since Bubsa was banned. I think that you now belong to the board of retired RuneScapers- Off Topic. We still have a few people left that have actually intelligent posts, I would be honored to be recognized as one of them.

 

 

 

However, since the Real Life pictures sticky was made, some General Discussioners spilled over, leading to a huge volley of spam, now on page 4 or 5. We hope that sometime soon the effect will wear off, but we still have a ways to go.

I agree totally with you. I have been around here for quite a while and I have posted quite a lot of posts here. Tip.it's posts isn't as good as before, but they're still good. I have checked out other RS forums and Tip.it is still one of the best ones.

I haven't gone to the other fansites, but RSOF is awful. It is filled with spam. I for one agree with the majority of this rant. This is a rant isn't it? I mean it is better than the "I got told to shut up" rant.

 

 

 

Anyways, I have been reading this forum for almost 3 years, and I still enjoy it. Anytime you have a forum for a game played by a bunch of youngsters (and most of you are youngsters, I am 29) then you are going to have your share of spam and sillyness.

 

 

 

It took me forever, to figure out what +1 meant. I try not to abbreviate too much. I take pride in my ability to type out WORDS.

I've been around Tip.it for what seems like more than a year just never joined the forums. Now that I have I cant say I notice any difference in posting. I am just glad I dont have to click on a thread and see this:
